Anyone with a Pip Boy 3000 clock for sale HOLLA AT YA BOY
10/29/2008 11:33:30 PM
hey, walls, you should man up and buy the game instead of flooding our thread with stupid trollish questionshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallout_3 --- it answered all your questions about four months ago
10/29/2008 11:45:14 PM
no shit...the questions he's asking are the most basic shitjust ordered an 8800 GTS so I can run the game (prior card was a x800)...hundred bucks for the upgrade keeps me from having to build a new comupter
10/29/2008 11:49:26 PM
the questions i asked aren't something that could be answered by wikipedia (okay maybe i could've looked up VATS...) but as far as differences between it and oblivion that was a serious question. Oblivion bored the fuck out of me because i had so much going on that i forgot which quests were the main one and i just ended up doing random shit and never getting anywhere. I like tons of sidequests but not so many thats its overwhelming. Pretty sure the wikipedia doesn't have a section dedicated to comparing this to Oblivion.I'm walls1441 and i approved this message.[Edited on October 30, 2008 at 12:26 AM. Reason : i decided to get Farcry 2 instead.][Edited on October 30, 2008 at 12:26 AM. Reason : i'll probably pick this up in classifieds in a month or 2 when people need xmas funds]/]

MehMy roommate has been playing far cry 2 a lot. looks pretty meh.
10/30/2008 12:30:02 AM
farcry 2 was a good choice! it is by far one of the best FPS' i've ever played. Very fun and very realistic!
10/30/2008 12:41:24 AM
walls, we wouldn't be making a 19 month year old thread about fallout 3 if we didn't think it was awesome. if you want a metacritic review, go to metacritic. if you want an oblivion comparison, go to an oblivion fansite. noone here wants to do your research. until then keep your idiotic questions out of the thread. we trying to game here.
10/30/2008 12:41:42 AM
okay mod, i'm sorry. i didn't know i had to be pumped about this game to post in it's thread.I'm walls1441 and i approved this message.

^ The sidequests in this game feel a ton more engaging than the Oblivion ones. I think part of it is that the NPCs seem to have more variety (and voice actors) than Random Elf #57 who wants you to kill 2 deer for him.
10/30/2008 1:17:34 AM
really loving the combat in this game so far...both FPS style and VATS.
10/30/2008 2:03:06 AM
It really is a nice balance. VATS is great when I want to target weak points or slow down the action and watch someone's head explode. The FPS combat is nice when I don't feel like pausing things to use VATS on a cockroach. Also, melee weapons are more fun in real-time.I'd like to take this moment to express my love for the lock-picking and hacking minigames. Each one is difficult but fair. There doesn't seem to be any random impossible crap like the lock-picking in Oblivion. The hacking beats Bioshock's "hacking" for sure.
10/30/2008 2:23:40 AM
Well I finally got to install this at about 11 last night, and figured I would play for an hour or so before bed.Well now it's 6 am, and the only reason I'm not still playing is I just had my first CTD (hopefully they aren't too common). This game is great. Saying it's "Oblivion with guns" is an oversimplification, it's used as an insult by hardcore fallout fans of course, but there really are a lot of similarities. So rather than saying it's "Oblivion with guns" I think it's more like "Everything Oblivion should have been, set in the Fallout universe"

I have been really good in this game so far. I have good Karma, I was at very good, but I did something stupid (hacked a terminal and picked a lock) just to get practice of doing it. Its SO much incentive to be Bad in this game, and not enough, at least for right now, incentive to do good.LAME

Without the 'power-ups' to ease hacking or the auto-hack tool in BioShock, it can be harder, way harder in fact than the hacking in FO3. However, the hacking in FO3 is awesome in that you don't feel pressured by time, and you actually have to think quite a bit more, rather than randomly flipping tiles that may or may not uncover a piece of the maze that you need to complete the hack.

Thankfully its not an online game so that glitch will only effect people who decide to take advantage of it and not people who decide to play straight up.
10/30/2008 9:27:17 AM
I really want to play this but I'll be steaming it after Left 4 Dead because of too much gaming right now. I'm sure it'll be even cooler by then, maybe some cool new mods to enjoy, who knows. It's though though - the game looks cool.
10/30/2008 9:47:30 AM
methods to play game:1) good guy with guns (I think most people default to this at first.. I know I do)2) stealthy thief3) strong melee (fun when combined with low intelligence)4) sniper5) morally bankrupt childkillerI think I might go with #2/#4 combo after I finish the game as #1
10/30/2008 10:15:27 AM
Yo I rescued this hussy from being one of this guy's sex slave and took her to Rivet City, did anyone else do this? The random encounters in this game are sick.[Edited on October 30, 2008 at 11:37 AM. Reason : /]
10/30/2008 11:37:00 AM
Man I was playing this initially OCD style trying to immediately get the bobbleheads for maximum stat valueBut that felt too much like work so I just started playing naturally, finding things as I go, and its 10 times more fun that way
10/30/2008 11:42:11 AM
I'm glad to see that they still provide plenty of ways to talk out of many situations; that always made the game fun for me. That, and once I picked up a combat shotgun, crawling through the subway isn't nearly as scary anymore.
10/30/2008 11:43:01 AM
I have only found one Bobble head, I got it out of Vault 101 before I left, I really have no idea where to look for them, and hope I just stumble upon them.^ Yeah I ran across some dudes attempting to carry out a hit on me, and fragged them, LOL.[Edited on October 30, 2008 at 11:45 AM. Reason : /]
10/30/2008 11:43:46 AM
Whoa how did you get a bounty on your head? I want some mofos to try and hunt me down.
10/30/2008 11:53:48 AM
I dunno, it was random as fuck, lol. I think the Overseer put the hit out on you.
10/30/2008 11:55:34 AM
Hmm maybe I avoided that by taking him out in the Vault...
10/30/2008 11:57:45 AM
Oh, yeah you are right, I blasted his ass too (glad I did not get bad Karma for it lol), well in that case it was someone out in the wasteland.
10/30/2008 11:59:19 AM
i killed the overseer in the vault too...but it was probably his daughter that put the hit on you...although she really likes me haha
10/30/2008 12:41:32 PM
I shot the daughter twice in the head before I felt bad and moved on
10/30/2008 12:53:19 PM
Has anyone done anything especially awesome with the Black Widow or Lady Killer perk? The only place I've seen an extra dialogue option was with Tenpenny's good in Megaton. It has yet to result in anything cool. Also, what perks have you picked up that are worth getting/not worth getting?[Edited on October 30, 2008 at 12:55 PM. Reason : .]
10/30/2008 12:55:06 PM
I upped my agility and used the swift learner perk twice I think... the first four levels of perks are pretty vanilla
10/30/2008 1:14:27 PM
I think unless you are just straight up role playing, most of the skill points based perks (i.e. 5 to science and medicine) aren't worth it.Black widow is definitely worth it as a female, 10% extra damage on like 75% of the humans? yes please.Intense training is also quite good.At level 3 you should take Educated. 3 extra skill points per level is FTW. Comprehension may be good, there do seem to be a lot of books out there, but I'm not so sure right now. Iron fist is good for unarmed, child at heart looks like it may be alright.Gunslinger and/or commando looks good, but I don't know how much of an accuracy boost they are talking about. Toughness is a great early game perk at level 6, it nearly doubles your (or at least my) armor class at that level. But who knows, with power armor it may become useless. All of the level 8 perks seem pretty good, except maybe size matters.Avoid here and now. It may seem tempting to gain 2 levels at once, but perks are one of the biggest reasons to level, and there's always more experience points out there.[Edited on October 30, 2008 at 1:19 PM. 10/30/2008 1:17:49 PM
I think Swift learner is a mistakeYou get to level 20 faster, but once you get there that perk becomes uselessIf you play the game all the way through, you should to level 20 anywaySo it makes more sense to get a perk that will still be relevant during the end game
10/30/2008 1:24:11 PM
you level faster, period, which means you get skill points sooner in the game which means you'll probably have an easier time getting to the end gameI only got swift learner this goround... I wouldn't get it when I'm playing the game the second time around[Edited on October 30, 2008 at 1:45 PM. Reason : .]

trying to read gamefaqs boards for good information is fucking pointlessi don't see how people are out there creating a thread a minute about stupid shit
10/30/2008 5:52:33 PM
^I learned that with Homecoming and the best way to deal with that is to sign-up with a serious fansite, its heavily moderated and usually has some good content.
10/30/2008 7:00:38 PM
Gamefaqs make TWW people look like geniusesYou can't make a topic there without it being buried ten pages deep in 5 minutes
10/30/2008 7:20:16 PM
What the hell is going on down there? Revolution? Vacation? Somebody fart?
10/31/2008 12:02:43 AM
Just beat the game, freaking awesome game, very engaging. I've had to trouble in some parts of the game being "evil" (the game does give you the option of doing some fucked up deeds).Overall, I think this one kept true to the feel and atmosphere of the original. The way repair mechanic works is great!
10/31/2008 1:22:01 AM
gibbing heads never gets old, just tonight i caught a feral roaming ghoul mid leap with a shot to the head that exploded as the body flew past me and with my other 3 shots i took out the feral ghoul behind himif oblivion had let me do shit like that i wouldn't have quit playing it after a month^ i love the way repair works[Edited on October 31, 2008 at 1:25 AM. Relatively speaking this game has the best soundtrack that I have ever experienced.
10/31/2008 6:22:51 AM
I'm getting tired of the three dog Dj howling like WOOOOOOOOOOO Ric Flair style every 5 minutes on the radio
