I wanted to rip my ears off listening to the Sabres vs. the Rags. I can't stand either team but it's the playoffs so I have to take hockey where I can get it. I was listening to it on NHL Radio from the Sabres side and their play by play guy drove me nuts with his "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL" like it was a freakin soccar match!

Sam Rosen & JD for the win (I miss JD). Too bad Dolan fired Marv, he was GOLD on the radio...

I like Doc Emrick too...

Chuck Kaiton called the empty netter to win the cup with less emotion than that jackass called the first goal of the series in the 2nd round.

nice to hear Forslund tonight.

mshaul, why you hatin on like everything? your special week or what? Forslund isn't the most energetic/emotional broadcaster but I think he's pretty good. Know's his stuff and doesn't say retarded shit....even though tripp tracey tries to throw him off

Second:

I could care less. I already said that I hate both teams.

W--T--F New Jersey!!! I didn't hear the game because I was playing tennis but at least they came back at the end to make it look respectable. Had Patty been in and Marty not been a clown then we could have pulled out the W. Oh well. Six more games to go. I make no bones about the fact that I really like Ottawa and Emery is a beast in net.

Oh and:

he is calling canes fans rednecks because forslund is announcing, or something like that

he acts like the typical buffalo fan doesn't live in a subaru brat behind a tim horton's, scavenging the leftover timbits

let him have his fun though

i mean we knew the coyote was never gonna actually catch the roadrunner but it was fun to watch him fail every single time

And detroit has LOST bandwagoners over the past 3-4 years, and theyve gone to Carolina, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Anaheim, and San Jose.

BLOOMBERG FTW

Quote :
"Bloomberg Blows Off Brown Over Bet

Posted by: Stefan Mychajliw, Reporter
Created: 4/23/2007 10:20:32 PM
Updated: 4/25/2007 7:28:31 AM

Big Apple Mayor Michael Bloomberg's office blew off Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown when he tried to place a friendly wager over the Sabres-Rangers playoff series.

That is according to Mayor Brown.

2 On Your Side's Stefan Mychajliw: "What was the response from the Mayor of New York's office when you tried to make this bet?"

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown: "The response was a little chilly. We think it might have some indication of what kind of faith they have in their hockey team. We on the other hand are very proud and very confident in betting on the Buffalo Sabres."

Normally Mayors from opposing cities place friendly food wagers over a playoff series.

For example, Mayor Brown betting 50 pounds of chicken wings with Mayor Bloomberg betting 50 pieces of cheesecake.

Mychajliw: "Do you think the fans should get a little fired up over this?"

Mayor Brown: "I think the fans should get very fired up. I think the fans should really be thunderous when the Rangers come into town and have to face the Sabres."

2 On Your Side called Mayor Bloomberg's office in New York City to talk about blowing off the bet. A staff member asked to see a copy of Mayor Brown's statement, which you can read here:

"Earlier today, my staff contacted New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's staff to discuss waging a bet on the upcoming NHL Eastern Conference Semi-Final playoff series between the Buffalo Sabres and the New York Rangers. Unfortunately, Mayor Bloomberg's staff declined to accept our offer to place a "friendly" wager on the playoff series. I hope Mayor Bloomberg's reluctance to wage a bet is not a sign of his lack of confidence in the Rangers' chances against the Sabres.

As a native of Queens, but now a 31-year resident of Buffalo, I was disappointed the Mayor of the state's largest city wouldn't engage in a wager against the leader of the state's second largest city. At the beginning of the NHL playoffs, three New York State-based teams were in, but soon only one will remain and I’m confident it will be the Sabres. Well, a bet or not, I'm looking forward to the Sabres' eventual victory over the Rangers.

Go Sabres!"

This is the response from Bloomberg's office, word for word:

"Mayor Bloomberg has only the highest praise for what Mayor Brown is doing in Buffalo. Norwood – I mean 'nor would' – we ever mention other memorable postseason games that Buffalo lost to a New York team. But we simply can’t go making friendly food wagers every time one of our pro teams enters the postseason. After all, there are only about 18,000 restaurants in New York City." -Stu Loeser, Spokesman for Mayor Bloomberg"

Don Cherry was the greatest ever though; Hockey Night in Canada and Rock Em Sock Em's, can't beat that.

I finally took some time to read through old posts on here:

Holy Crap- I am beginning to see why everyone on here thinks people from Buffalo are assholes.

I feel like we are ill represented by a mere few complete and total dumbasses.

Thanks,

By the way: Sabres play Rangers tonight- lets see if we can go two for two!

^alright when I first came on this board to talk about hockey, said a go sabres and then the criticizism rained down on me, this is the tww not carolina hurricanes.com, just because we are in nc doesn't mean im not suppose to support my team, now i know there were a lot of drunk obnoxious fans down here last year, but it takes obnoxious carolina fans to set them off, now i don't care if you root for every team the sabres play, just gives us stuff to argue about, ^and that wasn't directed all at you, sorry

No one set off the Buffalo fans. They were obnoxious when they arrived. That was the problem.

I don't give a shit if you like the Sabres, but if you're going to be a dick about it, I'm going to be a dick back, and when you say shit that's unsubstantiated, I'm going to prove you wrong. It's that simple.

BTW, jules, Don Cherry is signed on to do some NBC broadcasts with Brett Hull as well as his normal CBC duties this year.

I've made it pretty clear on here over the years I'm a Rangers fan and no one gets ticked off and talks shit to me. Maybe it's because I'm not an all out prick to all the WhalerCanes fans. When it comes to the Mets [versus Braves] though... well that is a different story.

p.s.- I like Drury. Played against him one year as a kid in Connecticut even though he is 4-5 years older.
