how about Ryan Doumit? the pittsburgh pirate player can play C/1B/OF in yahoo leagues and is doing well lately...is he gone too? also do you have to play individual infield positions in your league, or do you just play 4 "INF" positions?
5/16/2007 2:18:59 PM
I'm fucking feed up with Cano.I already have Aaron Hill (2nd, SS), JJ Hardy (SS), R. Furcal (SS) and Cano (2nd). One of these fuckers has to go, and all signs are pointing towards Cano.thoughts?
5/16/2007 2:19:29 PM
I've played Orlando Hudson 99% of the time and he is having an awesome season at 2Bi am also fed up with Cano...i'm HOPING that he will get his shit together, because one thing he has over a lot of other 2B is good bats in the lineup for him to knock in runs and get knocked in...its been pretty weak so far though...i mean fucking Miguel Cairo is starting today?
5/16/2007 2:20:57 PM
I already have Doumit. I have individual INF positions and a MI, CI, and IF.Right now I have:Teixeria 1B, CI, IFB. Phillips 2B, MI, IFE. Chavez (killin me, but he's my boy) 3B, CI, IFJeter SS, MI, IFDeRosa (dropped him today)Tejada SS, MI, IFDoumit 1B, RF, OF, IF, CIIwamura (DL) 3B, CI, IFK. Matsui (DL) 2B, MI, IFH. Kendrick (DL, added to roster today) 2B, MI, 1B, CI, IFSo as you can see, I'm weak in the INF until I can get those guys off the DL. But I don't see anyone on the FA list who is worth dropping one of them for. Our league has 12 teams and the rosters are pretty large, so there's not much out there. I am in first place right now but getting beat pretty bad this week (team batting average is .146 so you see how my week is going.)[Edited on May 16, 2007 at 2:25 PM. Reason : 1]
5/16/2007 2:24:28 PM
yo, so address my question though.I need to get rid of one of those guys. 3 SS's is too much. Hardy and Furcal are getting played every night in my SS and Utility position.Top players still available:Jhonny Peralta (Cle - SS) Ray Durham (SF - 2B) Sammy Sosa (Tex - OF) Chris B. Young (Ari - OF) Chris Duncan (StL - 1B,OF) Mark Teahen (KC - 3B,OF) Kenny Lofton (Tex - OF) Top 2nd basemen available:Ray Durham (SF - 2B) Ryan Theriot (ChC - 2B,SS) Craig Biggio (Hou - 2B) José López (Sea - 2B) Luis Castillo (Min - 2B) Mark Ellis (Oak - 2B) Mark DeRosa (ChC - 2B,3B,OF) Álex Cora (Bos - 2B,3B,SS)
5/16/2007 2:25:48 PM
^ Try and swing a trade for a pitcher. I would not even consider dropping Hardy, Furcal, or Cano. You may be able to package Hill or Cano with another average player for a stud.
5/16/2007 2:49:23 PM
About time Konerko and Abreu did something productive. Both just hit homers.
5/16/2007 3:15:26 PM
Does anyone else remember when ESPN's Baseball Tonight did that segment where they had a mock fantasy baseball draft and dumbass Karl Ravech was talking about taking Robinson Cano with the 2nd (or maybe 3rd) overall pick in the draft?? and to whoever said they were fed up with Cano, I'm fucking fed up with Rocco Baldelli's sorry ass, I keep wanting to drop him (since he has like 2 hits over his last 60 ABs) but then I see how highly ranked he was coming into the season and decide to hold out a little bit longer.
5/16/2007 3:27:23 PM
I hate the fact that all my pitchers seem to be getting hurt. Beckett, Street, Carpenter, Halladay, Hernandez, Wickman (even though he's back now). Next thing you know Hudson is going to get hurt.
5/16/2007 3:40:12 PM
Felix is back now toobut yeah, it does seem like a LOT of pitchers have been getting hurt this year
5/16/2007 3:44:23 PM
I just traded Rollins, John Buck and Tim Lincecum for Randy Johnson, Eric Gagne and Brian McCann. I looked to upgrade my pitching staff which has been woeful this year. Randy finally has had a few starts under his belt and looking good, McCann is a huge upgrade over Buck whom has been a surprise so far and anything out of Gagne would be a plus. Buck and Lincecum were waiver pickups but I do hate to lose Rollins. I'll have to replace his speed but I upgraded at other positions, especially pitching. Now my staff looks pretty good with:BedardBondermanJohnsonGlavineMecheRiveraHoffmanGagneValverdeand Clemens on my bench.

5/17/2007 7:26:06 PM
thats pretty much what everyone else on the show was saying to him
5/17/2007 8:50:13 PM
^^^that was an absolutely terrible trade for you. horriblerandy johnson is not what he use to be at at (still somewhat good though) but lincecum is better even though he's on the verge of going back to AAA because Ortiz is coming backI don't see how they can demote him after going 6 innings so far with 10K's and 1 ER tonight (he still has one or two more innings in him)[Edited on May 17, 2007 at 9:42 PM. Reason : horrible trade]
5/17/2007 9:40:55 PM
Oops, benched Lincecum and Carmona tonight because I was already winning in era by like 1.7... total of 15.1 innings pitched, 0.0 era, like a .57 whip and 14 ks so far from the two of them.. doh.
5/17/2007 9:48:23 PM
i'm thinking of moving francisco cordero since i have like 5 closers, and i really need a bat and another good starter. i was thinking maybe him and nate robertson for smoltz and michael cuddyer. thoughts?also, should i give up on abreu? he's been utterly disappointing
5/17/2007 11:18:12 PM
Lincecum is filthy... and looks like a 4th grade school girl.
5/17/2007 11:23:02 PM
cordero is pretty solid...depends on who your other closers arei just dropped cano cause he's a piece of shit
5/17/2007 11:23:52 PM
i've got jj putz, dave weathers, al reyes, and isringhausen
5/17/2007 11:25:13 PM
Note: Guardado is on the fast lane back. Weathers will not be closer for too much longer.
5/17/2007 11:53:32 PM
well whatever, its not like they win that much anyway. regardless, cordero is probably my best bargaining chip
5/18/2007 12:09:57 AM
Who to add?Have some fat to cut on my roster and looking to add a bat, who's worth a shot on my bench between:Damion Easley, 2B/SS NYMFred Lewis, OF SFChristian Guzman, SS WASAll are seeing the ball really well right now but I've got obvious drawbacks about each. Easley seems like the easiest pick, but is he a full time starter from here on out even if he keeps up the hitting? Lewis is hot but very green, no telling what he might do. Guzman was recently injured and playing for a pretty inept offense. Also, here are a few other FA's that I'm not considering, but they're putting up big numbers recently so I could be convinced:Angel Pagan, OF CHCEsteban German, 2B KCGreg Dobbs, 1B PHITony Gwynn, OF MILCarlos Gomez, OF NYMTony Pena, SS KCJason Michaels, OF CLECesar Izturis, SS CHCMatt Murton, OF CHCMike Napoli, C ANA[Edited on May 18, 2007 at 12:14 PM. Reason : 5x5 Standard Roto]
5/18/2007 11:54:37 AM
i really like this angel pagan kid..would it be stupid to drop jose cruz jr (or willits) and pick up Pagan?my other OF's are:hamiltonrowandwillinghamhunterwillits
5/18/2007 4:30:11 PM
here is my pitching "rotation" for today and today only
5/18/2007 4:36:42 PM
^^He put up stellar numbers since getting called up, but here's CBS' and Rotoworld's take:"Pagan has minimal Fantasy value, but he's worth keeping an eye on to see how he does.""Felix Pie couldn't get one start in the first nine days of the month before being sent down today, but Pagan is up and gets penciled right into the lineup. It helps that he's a switch-hitter, whereas both Jacque Jones and Pie are lefties. Maybe this will lead to more starts against lefties for Pagan, but he shouldn't have any fantasy value."[Edited on May 18, 2007 at 4:38 PM. Reason : a]

Trying to decide... at 1b I have Cuddyer, Berkman and Adrian Gonzalez... I only want to keep 2 1b's, recommendations?
5/20/2007 8:50:10 AM
^Berkman for sure. I would take Cuddyer over Adrian....he had way more RBIs last year.
5/20/2007 8:52:14 AM
i've proposed cordero for jhonny peralta. good trade? i've got closers but i need offense and i've got orlando cabrera at SS
5/20/2007 8:03:50 PM
Who should I start this week? Jon Garland v. Oakland or Joe Kennedy v. BaltimoreI'm leaning Kennedy
5/21/2007 11:33:34 AM
I get 3 outfield spots for starters for the upcoming week.. I have Francour, Ichiro, Youkilis, and Cust.. I can't decide whether to leave Cust in there or pull him for Youkilis whose been hitting really well lately as well
5/21/2007 11:35:21 AM
I wouldn't take out Youkilis if my life depended on it right now. He's really playing well.
5/21/2007 11:41:24 AM
youkilis ftwps: i have mag ord and torii as a couple of my outfielders...currently yahoo overall rankings:1. Alex Rodriguez2. Jose Reyes3. JJ Hardy4. Maglio Ordonez5. Torii Hunter [Edited on May 21, 2007 at 4:18 PM. Reason : i apologize for leaving out two accents on A-Rod's name, one on Reyes' name and two on Mag]
5/21/2007 3:58:00 PM
Whom do I start this week, Glavine @ATL or Bonser @TEX?
5/21/2007 5:18:06 PM
tough call...i think Glavine will play well against his former team, who has struggled lately...but Bonser had 11K his last start (if i'm not mistaken) and Texas hasnt really had great battinglucky for you, both matchups seem to be favorable, IMO
5/21/2007 5:24:31 PM
^^ I'd take Glavine. Bonser is inconsistent and besides his first year in NY, Glavine has pitched well against the Braves. Plus the Braves hitting has been a joke the past week other than the 14 runs on Sat in the 2nd game of the double header.
5/21/2007 5:40:02 PM
5/21/2007 6:29:15 PM
in 17 starts (101.2 IP) vs. ATL, glavine is 3-10 with a 5.39 ERAthe rangers offense has turned around a bit lately, but i'd go with boof
5/21/2007 7:27:21 PM
yeah Boof is coming around and has had a few good starts in a rowI'd pull the trigger on that Peralta/Cordero trade...relievers are hard to come by while SS is a pretty deep positionwhat do you think about dropping Akinori Otsuka and picking up Joakim Soria? Otsuka has been good when he's in the game, but with Gagne off of the DL he hasnt been getting a lot of appearances
5/21/2007 8:45:19 PM
soria has blown three saves this month but has more strikeouts than IPi guess some saves would be better than no savesi have a hard time trusting a 23 year old closer though, especially one who pitches for the royalslast week's write up in SI was pretty interesting though, sounds like he'll be solid down the road
5/21/2007 8:57:21 PM
well after commenting about Otsuka and Gagne splitting time, I just read that Octavio Dotel is about to come off of the DL so he will take over the closer role and Soria will become a middle reliever againso I'll keep Otsuka
5/21/2007 9:22:27 PM
5/22/2007 11:16:07 AM
I get: Scott Kazmir, Chris Ray, Ryan Zimmerman, and AJ Pierzynski (sp?)I give: David Wright, Oliver PerezThat seems almost too good to be true even though I love the two guys I'm giving up. I can use some more saves since Flash Gordon is on the DL, Zimmerman won't have as good power numbers as Wright given his team/ballpark but he is solid, and I gotta think Kazmir will end up about the same as Oliver Perez.Yes/No?Another trade is Konerko/Crede for Wright. The thing is I have Delgado as my 1B and he is killing me but Konerko hasn't been better.. I'll probably pass on that one.[Edited on May 22, 2007 at 1:23 PM. Reason : x]

Josh Hamilton on 15 day DLMay 21 The Dayton Daily News' Hal McCoy reports Cincinnati Reds OF Josh Hamilton (stomach illness) took early batting practice Monday, May 21 but was held out of the game. "He's feeling better and looks a little better and is available to pinch-hit, but I didn't think he looked quite well enough to play," Reds manager Jerry Narron said. May 20 Hamilton was sent back to Cincinnati by the Reds on Sunday to be checked out by team doctors a day after he had been diagnosed with gastroenteritis.Advice: It is not known whether Hamilton will be available Monday when the Reds open a four-game series at home against the Washington Nationals. His comeback from alcohol and drug addiction has been one of baseball's most inspiring stories this season. He was named the NL's top rookie in April after hitting six homers and driving in 13 runs.
5/22/2007 3:11:07 PM
5/22/2007 5:05:26 PM
I don't like that trade either...Kazmir will end up contributing more than Perez I think, but Wright is too valuable. You're basically giving up a first round pick and late round breakout for a closer, a couple 5-8 rounders that aren't performing like they should and a throw in.It's a decent amount in return, and if you are seriously hurting for saves maybe not so bad, but I think you could get a whole lot more.
5/22/2007 5:16:16 PM
First place in my league, after spending the first 3 weeks near the bottom.People laughed at me for picking Bonds and Hamilton.LOOK WHO'S LAUGHING NOW!
5/22/2007 5:27:07 PM
hamilton just went on the dl fwiw
5/22/2007 5:34:30 PM
^^ Bonds has sucked the last 2-3 weeks unless you have a BB category. Hamilton is on the DL and had not done shit in the past 2-3 weeks either. I suspect that there are other players on your team that are playing well or that you are in a horrible league.[Edited on May 22, 2007 at 5:56 PM. Reason : there]
