I saw it today and liked it. The battles were awesome (esp. the giant dude)
The ending scene was a total rip off of Gladiator.
[Edited on March 15, 2007 at 10:49 PM. Reason : .]

3/15/2007 11:18:04 PM

3/16/2007 7:21:02 AM
Great fucking movie...
3/16/2007 7:49:45 AM
I'm thankful that the sky blotting wall of arrows mercifully missed Leonidas' crotch by a mile whereas the same number of arrows turned Hero into a pincushion.
3/16/2007 8:03:47 AM
nor did they hit his facei don't think a final shot of the Spartan leader left to die bloodied and dishonorably by Persians would've been an image consistent with the rest of the movie, and the legend of his character Miller spent the whole movie trying to buildcome on
3/16/2007 8:26:01 AM
I don't think anyone can afford to take the movie that seriously.
3/16/2007 9:49:27 AM
saw it, loved it
3/16/2007 10:04:39 AM
It was over the top but in a good way.It was hard to take the storyteller seriously though since I immediately associate him with being the friar from Van Helsing.
3/16/2007 10:13:19 AM
3/16/2007 10:24:44 AM
I splooged 3 times, it was baller as fuck
3/16/2007 11:02:38 AM
Try associating the narrator with Faramir from LoTR and you'll feel much better about the whole thing
3/16/2007 11:02:48 AM
from the daily show:"In the movie, 300, a group of 300 spartans, with well over 1800 abs ..."haha

Well the whole Gladiator wheat field rip wasn't all intentionally done I dont think. My friend and I were talking about it. They did fight in the spring and the fall they harvested. Wheat is what they grew back then. The resolution of the movie shouldn't be located at a rocky coastline casm so where else but the fields. I mean if you're going to make a movie like this it's going to be hard as fuck not to accidently pay homage to Gladiator anyway am I right.

^ugh the whole reason they had the wolf scene in the movie was to show how Leonidas got the idea to fight them at the hot gates. Then they flashed back to it again near the end just to drive home the comparison. It does not really matter that they fought at the entrance of the hot gates the pass leading to it was already narrow enough that it limited the number of persians that could fight them at once.

How is that a bullshit story? Its totally appropriate. These are ancient greeks - simple people living by simple laws and traditions.
3/17/2007 5:01:12 PM
alright, well i was expecting them to fight in the hot pass, since it may have well just been a wall the way they used it
3/17/2007 9:29:24 PM
Yea, I didnt understand why they started fighting out in the open.
3/17/2007 10:14:26 PM
you guys missed the whole giant cliff and the ocean thing i guess ?
3/17/2007 10:42:47 PM
no, just saying what's the point of showing the whole wolf thing, where he traps the wolf in the narrow rocksbut they fight outside of the narrow rocksthe advantage of the pass is negated when they fight in the openthe fights would have been the same if it was just a cliff (i know not story-wise)just saying, the movie was still awesome

Ay yo, I saw it tonight. I'm not reading 7 pages of thread, but hopefully it doesn't take 7 pages for someone to say that it was bad assed.BadAssed.Yo!
3/18/2007 2:13:46 AM
apparently at the REAL battle Leonidas was one of the first to die by arrows, not the lastI'm glad they changed it though, it woulda been stupid to have him die first
3/18/2007 10:30:03 AM
the only part of this movie i liked was the wizard hat
3/18/2007 10:59:05 AM
The wheat field thing wasn't for homage of Gladiator. That's more than likely an allusion to the elysian fields (greek mythology) after life. It's all symbolic yo - russell crowe doesn't get to claim that shit by himself!
3/18/2007 5:44:20 PM
and as earlier posted in the thread, that's what the comic looked likeso gladiator did an homage to 300
