11/2/2006 9:40:43 PM

11/2/2006 9:41:47 PM
I think this was the least funny of any episode of The Office I have seen. And yeah, HD NBC is still breaking up to shit.
11/3/2006 12:31:22 AM

11/3/2006 8:45:22 AM

future dwight ahahaha
11/9/2006 8:31:14 PM
Going into tonight, I was skeptical of The Office's longevity. This season has been lackluster so far. I can say that tonight's episode was the best in a LONG time.Highlights:- The opening with "future Dwight"- Jim defending Micheal Scott- Ryan feeling like he found his "out"- The in-car conversation turning homo-erotic and making Micheal uncomfortable
11/9/2006 9:00:34 PM
that episode was amazing and next weeks looks like it will be even better
11/9/2006 9:02:42 PM
agreed. tonights episode was a good one and i have a good feeling about the rest of this seasonpam vs. karen (who will get jim)jim vs. dwight (who will be asst reg manager)
11/9/2006 9:02:45 PM
karen > pamshe's hot and she wants him when pam wanted him but she wouldnt do it
11/9/2006 9:10:30 PM
pam was engaged though...
11/9/2006 9:12:26 PM
it feels like it's really turning into a dramady, moreso than a sitcom or mockumentary, or whatever it was before. not that i mind, because they're doing a very good job with it, but the 'laughs per episode' count is definately going down this season, replaced with story arcs and drama (again, a good thing as long as the writers keep it up).next week looks good - "wow, you are very exotic looking. was your dad a GI?"btw - jenna/pam is on Letterman tonight^ yeah, pam was in quite a bind. she really had no good course of action there. as we discussed during season 2, her options were to cheat on roy, which would make her look like a cheating bitch (regardless of how "right" she was), or get dumped by roy, which didn't happen, or dump roy, which she obviously did too late for Jim's sake.[Edited on November 9, 2006 at 9:17 PM. 11/9/2006 9:14:48 PM
will andy be picked up by scranton??please say yes
11/9/2006 9:21:03 PM
^ check the middle of page two for the answer to that questionPam will be on letterman tonight and this is from her myspace blog:
11/9/2006 9:54:49 PM
^ seems like something pam would say.
11/9/2006 10:15:01 PM
if i had to make a complaint about tonight's episode, it would be the realism with which they handled the actual branch closing. (nit-picking here, but to be fully into the show, i prefer it to show real-world realism, even with all the character abusurdity)First, Jan drives from NY to Scranton to tell Michael. Then she drives to Stamford to tell Josh. As soon as she get's there, Josh tells her he quits. Within minutes (a short enough time that Jim remained waiting in Josh's office), apparently she contacts the board and they make a decision to clost the Stamford branch instead and transfer people to Scranton..... iiiiiii don't think so. I'm not sure it's quite that easy to decide to all of a sudden shut down and keep open an entirely different office. Then, Jan drives all the way back to Scranton, apparently without even calling or confirming with Michael that he is still there (although she does seem to be a pop-in type manager, in order to catch people like Michael off guard). anywho.... back to Pim/Jam/Jaren/Kim?
11/9/2006 10:52:09 PM
the part where micheal and dwight were role playing, and micheal told him to do it again but act scared, was one of my favorite scenes yet.
11/9/2006 11:02:23 PM
^^ I had similar feeling about the show, even though it is just a sitcom. It just seemed silly to believe all of those decisions got made and notified to both branches in the course of the same day.
11/9/2006 11:06:12 PM
ho hum ho hum ho hum im home from work ho hum
11/9/2006 11:18:25 PM
best episode in a LOOOONG time, and I agree it's become a bit drama-ish, but well doneand yeah, those "quick decisions" were completely inaccurate. No company could/would ever pull those strings so quickly. next week looks killer, too
11/9/2006 11:24:24 PM
right, the "quick decisions". i feel like the writers have been very patient for 2 years now, letting storylines develop at a natural, realistic pace. Then all of a sudden, they crammed what could have been 3 episodes worth of material into 22 minutes....
11/9/2006 11:29:39 PM
ahaha"sold the building for magic beans"i died at that part
11/10/2006 12:11:22 AM
So would you bone Pam or the other chick whose name doesn't come to mind right away?
11/10/2006 2:27:54 AM
Pam > ALL
11/10/2006 3:06:37 AM
^^her name is Karen JAM FTW
11/10/2006 3:07:41 AM
probably asked manytimes over but !!how similar is us office season 1&2 to british ?
11/10/2006 3:13:40 AM
^ not very. We all know the first episodes were almost identical - they just changed some of the US lines to make it more topical for the audience. (this was a major mistake, i think, because right from the beginning it really turned off a lot of fans of the UK one because it made it look like the US one was just going to copy them)then there were some other episdoes that had similar plots, like diversity day, but the execution was different in the US. and of course, some of the underlying themes are the same..... pam and jim = dawn and tim, dwight = gareth, michael, the annoying, obnoixious boss = david, the asshole, obnoxious boss. something to keep in mind though, for all the US haters claiming that they "stole all their ideas" from the UK, is that the UK there were only 12 episdoes of the entire series (6 per season for 2 seasons). There have already been 35 episodes of the US one, and will be 50 by the end of this season. obviously the US one has diverged a lot. one thing i noticed last night - david brent would never go to the same lengths as Michael Scott to save his branch. Michael really cares about his employees, where david brent is just a fucking asshole and looks after himself
11/10/2006 7:51:54 AM
There are also completely different French and German versions of this show. Watching each helps us to better form stereotypical opinions about other nationalities.^For instance, Brent wouldn't have done that, because all Brits are depressed, uncaring and lazy.
11/10/2006 10:05:23 AM
can i get the french and german one with subtitles?[Edited on November 10, 2006 at 10:11 AM. Reason : @@@]
11/10/2006 10:11:00 AM
here's a good column on Salon comparing all 4 versions, and discussing some of the cultural differences that lead to different humor in each showhttp://www.slate.com/id/2150015/
11/10/2006 11:00:39 AM
The Producers Cut is online. Added a few extra tidbits if you wanna watch.Plenty of good Creed moments!
11/10/2006 12:25:03 PM
^^that was really interestinghttp://www.slate.com/id/2150113/ I'd like to see Jim and Pam do that at some point
11/10/2006 1:22:30 PM
but Karen can speak french!
11/10/2006 4:41:18 PM
They are seriously holding Creed back for whatever reason.
11/10/2006 5:50:28 PM
apparently Creed was in the producer's cut version of this weeks episode. haven't watched it yethttp://www.lifeintheoffice.com/2006/11/10/branch-closing-producers-cut/they probably have to cut his parts to make room for the bigger plots. which, again, is a reason they should have spread Branch Closing out over 2 episodes with some kind of cliff hanger in the middle.
11/10/2006 6:11:14 PM
If you're too lazy to see what happens in the Producer's Cut w/ Creed:*Semi-Spoiler!*When Creed finds that the branch is closing, he starts selling everything on his office space and just other random things from the office to some random people. That whole "Creed buying shots" thing is because he made $1200 by selling his computer and all that other stuff.*End Spoiler*
