I think this film is going to do pretty damn good in the box office. Every show at the IMAX has sold out so far and there are very few seats left for the 3 shows still available this weekend.
7/1/2006 12:58:24 AM
yeah at non imax theaters weekdays are pretty full and weekends mostly sold out
7/1/2006 2:11:22 AM
we sold out all 4 prints tonight at my theater for every showing starting at 7pm and onward so it is going to do damn well at the box office, and X-men 3 kinda sucked so don't compare it to Superman which i feel is a very well done comic book movie. and i watched it again today before i had to clock in, it was good the second time around too. i'm starting to like it more and more every time i see it.
7/1/2006 2:11:46 AM
yeah i love working at the movies bc when it isn't busy i get to do my 10 min "theater checks" in superman
7/1/2006 2:13:50 AM
It was a good movie. It didn't even feel like I was there for two and a half hours. While good, I didn't think it was as good as Batman Begins. It hurts a bit because IMO, it parallels Spiderman 2. - Alter ego is a dork- Girl conflicted over two men- Action sequences typically involve someone else in peril (Spiderman had much more action tho)- It was more about the story than the action, etc...I did think that the guy who played Superman did a great job. ***
7/1/2006 2:17:59 AM
I'm gonna have fun tommorrow night kicking people out who try to sneak into superman. god i love working door.
7/1/2006 2:21:59 AM
i've heard that there's talk of making a batman+superman movie[Edited on July 1, 2006 at 2:24 AM. Reason : door is where it's at]
7/1/2006 2:23:29 AM
thought the movie was weak as hell.
7/1/2006 2:35:29 AM
7/1/2006 6:17:43 AM
There WAS talk about batman vs. superman. It was on the table for a while but it was scrapped....I'm sure someone will do one at some point in time...but not anytime soon.
7/1/2006 9:03:54 AM
in cartoons
7/1/2006 9:18:15 AM
was an awsome movie, but i felt it was a bit too long and drawn out.
7/1/2006 12:13:31 PM
it was the right amount of time -- not too long, not too shortSinger had a lot on his plate, what with making a sequel to movies he had to assume our generation hadn't seen
7/1/2006 12:18:12 PM
I saw it last night at the imax....I really wished the intro was in 3D that would have been so hot but some of the scenes that were 3D im kinda like uhhh and they should have done better scenes. other than that the movie was pretty good and I would probably go see it again
7/1/2006 12:38:49 PM
There's a great article in the Indy... plenty of spoilers needless to say.http://www.indyweek.com/gyrobase/Content?oid=oid%3A33476
7/1/2006 12:46:22 PM
SPOILER-semialtert.every fucking new show is spoiling the main twist of the movie ... fox news did it this morning, "someone's super abililtie suprises the audience midway thru the movie...."this just shows ya, see any movie you dont want spoiled as fast possible, becuase people are pricks and that doent change no matter where you go.
7/1/2006 2:29:41 PM
^ I agree
7/1/2006 2:41:34 PM
they really could've cut out that little flashback he had from when he was a kid. it wasn't necessary and added about 10 minutes. otherwise i thought it was great
7/2/2006 12:07:15 AM
i LOVED that part.
7/2/2006 12:19:21 AM
i mean it was well done and everything, but as much as i liked the movie, i thought it dragged a little bit so that part could've been cut
7/2/2006 12:43:50 AM
I had a lot of doubts about this movie considering all of the developmental hell, the questionable casting, and choosing to continue the story rather than reboot. However, Brandon Routh was great...pretty good as Superman and incredible as Clark Kent. It really was like seeing Christopher Reeve back from the dead, and thats not a bad thing. Yeah, the Luthor plot was kinda bad though...too similar to the one in the first movie, yet this time the plan didnt make much sense. Im curious, was there anything in this film that made III or IV necessary viewing? Its been awhile since Ive seen either, III is pretty bad and IV is bloody awful, so Id like to continue pretending they dont exist.
7/2/2006 6:00:31 AM
i saw it at IMAX last night. it was WAY too long.
7/2/2006 10:58:54 AM
This movie was ok.Lois was done horribly IMO. the casting for her sucked. (and wtf she couldnt spell a word and had to ask the chief how to??)cyclops was much less douche in this film than the xmen one.there wasnt enough clark kent/lois interaction.luthor had nowhere near enough screen time and his plot was anti-climatic and not very super-villiany. but spacey was great.superman was done well and cast well too. and the piano scene was hilarious with the kid.i know they wanted to leave it open but the film had no closure at all.
7/2/2006 12:26:38 PM
I heard rumor of a Batman+Superman+Wonder woman movie. This being after the wonderwoman movie and going along the lines of the "Trinity" story line with darkside, and the begining of the justice league.
7/2/2006 12:46:41 PM
^ why not just make a Justice League movie.. screw a pre-JL story..[Edited on July 2, 2006 at 1:14 PM. Reason : ]

no more comic book movies
7/2/2006 2:09:51 PM
Superman Returns - $84.3 million in its 5 day opening weekendX-Men: The Last Stand - $119 million in its 3 day opening weekendI win.
7/3/2006 9:47:04 AM
Actually I'm pretty sure that X-Men wins.[Edited on July 3, 2006 at 9:48 AM. Reason : ]
7/3/2006 9:48:45 AM
boring... movies over 2 1/2 hours are just unacceptable. not every movie can be an epicand just what the hell was lex luthor trying to do? they didn't really explain his villainous plot well enough. i probably wouldn't ever see it again, but it wasn't atrocious.[Edited on July 3, 2006 at 10:00 AM. Reason : asdf]
7/3/2006 9:53:29 AM
They explained it very well, unless you have Down syndrome or some other horrible affliction of the mind and body that prevents you from processing and comprehending information like the rest of us with IQs in the triple digits. He gave Lois a big speech about how land is most valuable commodity on Earth because they're not making more of it and oho I have a means to create new land, ha ha, and I don't care if people die as long as I get paid. I mean, you might as well call that low-hanging fruit for the mongoloids in the audience. How did that slip by you, Corky? Were you too busy counting your fingers to make sure you still had all ten?
7/3/2006 10:18:19 AM
When Batman Begins came out I had heard that if Superman Returns did well enough then they would consider doing a Batman + Superman movie. But if they do more Superman movies they'll have to be a little darker/more serious in order for Superman to fit into Batman's world, or Batman's sequels will have to be a little lighter in order for Batman to fit into Superman's world. Sure, this Superman was a little more serious than the original movies, but not as much as Batman Begins. Besides I don't like the idea of them being in competition with one another.
7/3/2006 11:09:07 AM
They wouldn't be in competition. They were published continually in World's Finest for decades as the best superhero team-up in comics. That's why the phrase World's Finest is used to specifically refer to Batman and Superman today. For a good idea of what a World's Finest movie might look like in terms of tone, check out the World's Finest trade paperback published in 1991, written by Dave Gibbons and pencilled by Steve Rude.
7/3/2006 11:12:26 AM
FYI, Gotham got a shout out during a news report.Three movies down the line for both series, if they're as good as Begins and Returns, then a Superman+batman super trilogy would be fucking awesome. Epic even.

maybe i fell asleep during that part... or maybe you have read the comic book one too many times... or maybe you get off flaming people on message boards, you tell me.
7/3/2006 1:25:21 PM
^ I'm pretty sure all three. Hes good at the third too
7/3/2006 1:43:15 PM
Well the plot was easy enough for most children to follow, so I don't really get why people are making it out to be confusing.
7/3/2006 1:48:47 PM
Did someone really use opening Box office gross as measure of success?
7/3/2006 1:51:29 PM
7/3/2006 1:58:18 PM
7/3/2006 2:02:44 PM
how much money does Superman Returns have to make to insure a sequel? I read it cost 260$ million and Warner Bros. was very unhappy with the 5 day opening numbers?
7/3/2006 5:24:09 PM
It cost $185 million to make. They'll recover costs, profit probably won't be spectacular...around $50-70 million maybe.
7/3/2006 7:39:56 PM
for the record, the sountrack to this movie sucks. i was let down by paramore's acoustic version of the foo fighters "my hero."
