So, yes--Atheism and Agnosticism are considered religions. I know that many are used to "religion" meaning "organized religion", but without the term "organized", it means something very different.)

So kbbrown3's poll has gone on for a couple of weeks now, and hempster has tallied in the information. Is there anyway of analyzing the data, are there any interesting conclusions, things people didn't expect etc? Or was it just information gathered for information’s sake?

now that spring break is over & technically it recently turned to spring (even though we have cold weather now vs the 80s we had during winter)... maybe we can get some new blood in this thread and add to the poll as well as get more analysis of the data. There definitely isn’t enough Greco-Roman Polytheism on this page yet. Heres Hermes... he was the youngest of the main gods for a while (but later Dionysus was born). He is the messenger god as well as the god of travelers & of thieves. Before he was even 1 day old he managed to steal the cattle of the gods. He had them walk backwards and wore special shoes to hide his tracks. He even promised the 1 witness that saw him that he would make his garden plentiful if he kept his mouth shut.Eventually Apollo (the next youngest god at the time, and his older half brother) did some detective work... saw the fake backwards tracks and wasnt fooled, talked to the witness and got the truth out of him, and watched for signs & saw an eagle (a symbol of Zeus) so he knew a son of Zeus was the culprit.Hermes played the innocent child, lied to his mom, the dectective/police Apollo, and the judge/his father Zeus. Eventually he played a musical instrument he had made that night, showed apollo where the cattle were, and was able to get on good terms with his older half brother. From then on he was in charge of the cattle.Greek mythology can be fun... there are a few of the storys that read like mystery novels.

its really sad if you think religion limits one's experiences
3/21/2006 11:43:14 PM
it surely doesn't expand it.
3/21/2006 11:52:06 PM
i can have the same experiences you can havebut you cant have the experiences i can haveso it does expand it
3/22/2006 12:07:56 AM
What positive experiences do you have that I cannot have?add me as athiest.[Edited on March 22, 2006 at 12:10 AM. Reason : .]
3/22/2006 12:09:31 AM
he has the satisfaction that he will go to heaven, and all other infidels will burn in hell.
3/22/2006 12:10:28 AM
since god doesn't existI don't consider delusions of grandeur as positive experiences.
3/22/2006 12:11:33 AM
how do you know if God does or does not exsist?
3/22/2006 12:15:23 AM
because i was playing golf with jesus the other day, and he said it was all a ruse.
3/22/2006 12:17:18 AM
oh
3/22/2006 12:18:09 AM
jesus needs to work on his short game.
3/22/2006 12:18:42 AM
3/22/2006 12:18:55 AM
as an athiest you can never have any religious experiences, but i can have every experience you can havereligion may all be wrong and all be for nothing, but it certainly isn't limiting one's experiences
3/22/2006 12:21:56 AM
3/22/2006 12:22:45 AM
You can run out and experience everything I can, but then you have to run back and repent. Repentence suggests guilt, fear, and sorriness. I just don't want to live my life being sorry because I'm a human being.
3/22/2006 12:22:59 AM
here is an experience jonhguth can't have as a believing christianthe experience knowing god doesn't exist.
