7.02I tell ya, she had a lot of nerve photochopping those beer cans off her head and using the same photo for her RA picture. Damn shame, the hypocrisy these days [Edited on October 30, 2005 at 9:02 PM. Reason : +.02]

10/30/2005 9:29:25 PM
we just need that photochoped pic with some sort of Alexander Residence Hall sign in the background..... and I don't know about you guys, but I'm gonna bring that pic to the meeting on this topic Wednesday @ 8pm in witherspoon.....

let's see how you are mixing these terms:"University", "sane", "reality"please try again
10/31/2005 1:34:24 AM
^Try what again? Do you have a point or not?The University isn't serving any end by policing Facebook. Anybody with half an ounce of common sense can see that.Besides, what are they going to do? Any measure that is even reasonably successful against Facebook, just means that people will go to another site. Facebook is this month's fad; next month it'll be some other site, and then another, and another ...
10/31/2005 1:48:19 AM
Of course it isn't going to be effective, but they probably think it is effective. However, that's really irrelevantDo you really think it came from the higher ups to start doing this shit, even the RD? Or rather that an RA decided to bust some people?I mean, it's not like any RD is going to say "no, I'll think we'll let think this one slide." If the RA documented it, then the RD is going to follow through.
10/31/2005 2:14:45 AM
I still don't get how they can enforce this.... MAYBE if the pictures were of people drinking. Like turning up the container and imbibing. But just to fault someone for holding a can of beer of appearing in a picture with one is horseshit. For my COM110 class freshman year, I did a presentation about how beer is made. For my props I washed out a couple beer cans and a 40. Are you saying that I could have been cited just for having had aluminum and glass containers with labels on them that said they formerly held alcohol? Once again, horseshit.

UPDATE: TOWN HALL MEETING, Thursday -- TBA!!!!, will be announced Monday if all goes ok... and we're going big on this one! -- It should hit the papers soon *crossing fingers*
10/31/2005 2:30:59 AM
^^It's be one thing to walk down the hall and see this with her own eyes. It's another to find pictures of it. Why the hell didn't she just make a note that those rooms party and may need a visit next Friday night? And actually catch them in the act? If she had done that, they would have been issued citations, it would have been deserved, and no-one would have said shit.
10/31/2005 2:31:22 AM
^1. are you pointing to yourself?2. I have no clue why she did that, I wouldn't, but that's just me3. it is against University Housing policy just to have alcohol containers in a residence hall. I'm assuming that's what the pictures invovled. 4. Are you into design? Our COM110 teacher keeps showing us this kick ass visual aid that some dude made and it was about how beer is made.
10/31/2005 2:41:40 AM
Well, I was pointing to the guy in front of me. Someone else posted right before my second one apparently. It can't be against policy to have alcohol containers in a residence hall - that dorm is wet.Not particularly into design... what about this visual aid?
10/31/2005 3:05:40 AM
Someone please take that beer hat picture and blow it up onto posterboard and bring it to the meeting. Everyone from TWW unite and go, that'd get a point across... or be an excuse for us to heckle.
10/31/2005 3:11:10 AM
I guess it wasn't you. The guy had a job as a graphic designer I think. Anyways, he made this visual aid about how to make your own beer or something along those lines. It looked really amazing.
10/31/2005 3:15:25 AM
Nope, wish it was though. I'm a computer science nerd, and a shitty one at that!

10/31/2005 5:52:30 PM
why won't this bitch pick up her phone?
10/31/2005 6:51:10 PM
prob been disconnected for a long time now. in addition, she prob has a new screenname too.
10/31/2005 6:52:51 PM
Her room phone? I thought about that but thought there might be some rule against it since she's an RA. Her voicemail still has her saying her name.
10/31/2005 6:54:54 PM
wow..... it is insane that certain people in high positions people feel so threatened by this message board that all the RA's that have posted on this message board are being reprimanded. So now not only is the rights and freedoms of those living in the dorms being stripped, but those posting as well. They are trying to punish everyone they can get their hands on, absolutly disgusting. I'm sorry, but I will not be silent, I have the right to express my views. I must say though, we have made quite the intrest in high places b/c the link to this forum has been passed through all the ranks, from RD's, AD's, Campus Director, and even the likes of Susan Grant. So the best responce these people can come up with is to hunt down those who are not mindless drones and remove them from their positions, how cute and fair. These people in high positions speak of diversity and the need for uniquness, but when we open our mouths and express this opinion we are punished. I will see you all at this meeting, and hopefully the likes of those trying to keep my quite will be there too...[Edited on October 31, 2005 at 7:15 PM. Whoa, hold up here. You're saying that they're firing RAs for posting in this threadbut the one who started all of this keeps her job?

10/31/2005 7:26:42 PM
That's ridiculous. The whole thing just reeks of laziness to me. If you want to enforce the rules on your hall, that's fine, but how about you actually conduct your business instead of playing around on a website all day?[Edited on October 31, 2005 at 7:30 PM. Reason : ]

When exactly is the Meeting going to be b/c on page 6 JSW3OL said it was Wednesday @ 8pm, but just above he said thursday.... anyone have the exact date/time cause I know I'm gonna be there and I'm going to be speaking up and inquiring as to why they feel the need to dismiss those with opinions if the Big Dogs are there......
10/31/2005 7:30:37 PM
I want to be there as well, and I've come to bring the pain punishing RA's on here who speak up?!! now thats wrong too

http://www.aclu.org/FreeSpeech/FreeSpeechlist.cfm?c=87 some interesting free speech cases involving schools, though, not to jump too quick on either bandwagon, is this a case of free speech? cuz i recall hearing in the news about companies reprimanding/firing employees for personal blogs[Edited on October 31, 2005 at 7:44 PM. Before you go in there saying that you heard this and that on TWW, you might want to make sure it's actually true.

10/31/2005 7:53:12 PM
unfortunately, I can't go to the meeting no matter what night it's on...
10/31/2005 8:04:15 PM
Just curious....if someone ripped off your laptop, then you saw pictures on Facebook of someone taking your laptop from your room, would you go after them? Or would you ignore it because you can't be sure the pics were real........
10/31/2005 8:26:43 PM
are you implying that these two things are even comparable?
10/31/2005 8:29:36 PM
AMANDA BOSTIAN, I HOPE SOMEBODY RAPES THE FUCK OUT OF YOU
10/31/2005 8:29:49 PM
you're arguing semantics,ie circumstantial evidence. it's a photo, it'd be an allegation, you would have to substantiate it with more sollid proof. you'd had no proof that it wasn't you who took the picture, told him to do it, told him he could borrow it, couldn't prove if he was leaving with his own laptop and yours was in it's carrying case in the closet. i think you get my point.
10/31/2005 8:31:24 PM
does anyone know where she lives? I wanna send her a letter
10/31/2005 8:34:32 PM
No, the point is that pics on Facebook are either legitimate, or they're not. You can't say that you can use them for evidence in one type of case, but not in another one if you happen to disagree with the charges.
10/31/2005 8:34:56 PM
i'm not sure i understand the implication you were making in your first post then
10/31/2005 8:36:10 PM
i sure wish i could get the same punishment for murder as a dui if that were ever to happen.
10/31/2005 8:38:39 PM
^^^ That's a good point, but at the same time, people drinking (maybe) in their dorm rooms isn't depriving somebody of his property. It doesn't matter. At all. If you are really THAT interested in busting people for drinking, you need to go ahead and BUST them, not have some sort of maybe evidence that something might have happened. And in the case of the laptop, it probably wouldn't be enough evidence by itself to prove that this guy took your comp, but it would sure give you a good idea of whose grill to fuck up.[Edited on October 31, 2005 at 8:39 PM. 10/31/2005 8:39:28 PM
oh shit, MOOTDUFF!
10/31/2005 8:39:56 PM
It just seems like everyone here thinks it is dead wrong to rely on Facebook pics to prove that someone broke a rule/policy/law. I wonder if these same posters would insist that the pics can be used as evidence is they are the victims..... It's the old double standard.
