^You are supposed to realize that before you buy the console. I'm not sure why you think the ps3 and xbox360 are not worth it but somehow the NR will be. All three are not worth it.

I don't think any of the next gen consoles are going to be all that great. Better hardware? Who cares? It's not like there are that many games that take advantage of all the hardware that current systems have to offer.

My computer will substitute for my console for this generation. I'll check back on the next unnecessary go-round to see if they have anything worth the money.

HAVE YOU READ NOTHING OF THE NR? c'mon man.

IT WILL BE CHEAP (under $200, probably $150 at launch)

IT WILL BE DIFFERENT (the controls are completely revamped and in 3d space, etc, etc)

IT WILL HAVE ACTUAL GOOD 1ST PARTY GAMES (as always with N)

ETC

ETC

Yeah, I've read it. It doesn't interest me at this point because it is mostly hype. THey say these things now because they don't want to lose the console war before it begins. Time will tell how it plays out.

You could have come up with something better than that.

I guess you don't like 3d shooters or rpgs with fmv.

i can see how it is so terrible to like the games that are most popular right now.

im excited to see if the revolution goes anywhere, but that doesnt mean i have to jump onto the anti-sony/ms train. i like playing consoles for a variety of reasons and so i'll buy a new one. sony and ms will keep the tradition with games that we are enjoying by bringing those out in new forms and hopefully improving on them while exploring new styles. revolution will probably be very diff but wont have the support (who'd be surprised).

do new fighting, shooters, etc warrant a 400 dollar purchase? maybe not to you, but anyone else who wants to try a new one that may have more sophisticated AI, looks nicer and takes advantage of newer technology, etc will pick one up. the online features look very interesting too.

OMGZ THAT GAME IS A SHOOTER, IT MUST BE TERRIBLE!!! I WILL SETTLE FOR NO LESS THAN REALISTICALLY PLAYING PING PONG WITH SAMUS.

In case you all haven't heard, the Revolution will also feature downloadable games from the Sega Genesis and the Turbografx 16.

BIG NEWS

we knew that the revolution would be similar to the cube, but more powerful. but now we now know about how much more powerful. its no suprise that nintendo wants these details kept secret.

the news is that the revolution is about as powerful as the xbox

http://revolution.ign.com/articles/699/699118p1.html

sounds fine to me, but im sure some people will wish nintendo would compete technologically.

in reality, this is nothing new. they have always said that the revolution would be about twice as strong as the gamecube, which may be near the power of the xbox. read this. http://www.play-girlz.com/nintendo-revolution-specs/ either way, if the gamecube put out resident evil 4, i am sure the revolution is gonna rock. also, nintendo is smart by not directly competing with the ps3 and the 360, because it would never win, and they want themselves established as the 'second console' - honestly, i already have my space on my entertainment set up ready for the arrival of the revolution.

whether they are competing with sony and microsoft is somewhat irrelevant. if the consumer thinks it is the alternative, then you are competing.

by going innovative and pricing cheaper they could either get what they want or become that cheap alternative that a parent brings home instead. if they botch the controller somehow, it could mark the end of their home consoles forever.

i said that they are not 'directly' competing - i never said what the consumer may think.

also, who would really think that this is an alt to the 360 or ps3??

^^well, if one is not a serious gamer then his or her opinion does not matter.

Nintendo will survive, because they always have the dedicated fanboy market.

It's not really watching their back when they're already in 3rd place.

Nintendo lost with the N64 and never caught up again. It's kind of sad, too, considering that they had maybe the two best games of that generation of consoles (Mario 64 and OoT). Shouldn't have been greedy and gone with the cartridge format.

Funny, I always though "serious gamer" mean someone who really enjoyed playing quality games. I'm just not buying the whole "someone who only plays more or less generic games, but with SWEET machine specs dude!" definition.
Who's the real "fanboi" here?

to me, a serious gamer is one that know how to evaluate the differences between games, consoles, pc's, handhelds, arcade games, etc etc, in terms of quality, originality, purpose, competetion, etc etc.

As most of you know, there are still things about this console that have not been revealed to the public. I can't wait for E3.

It does if said person is the parent responsible for purchasing the console for their child, whoch a good chunk of gamers are represented by.
