Although...I wouldn't turn this boat down...too bad I didn't get the front of it in the picture...I was taking it in kind of a rush...
8/5/2005 6:18:18 PM
does bayliner quality still suck ass? cause i know trophy = bayliner fishing is maxum part of the family too?
8/5/2005 6:23:31 PM
Yeah Maxum is part of the family, too...basically they're Bayliners that are better quality...but Bayliners sell really well...supposedly they're the top-selling boat company...because a lot of people are just looking for a boat they can have fun with at a fairly cheap price.[Edited on August 5, 2005 at 6:29 PM. arcgreek:Yeah it was on CP. Ask David Cox about it. He'll tell you. Ask him about the time I almost got catapulted off the deck when Billy's replacements forgot to break the lazy jib sheet. That earned me a trip from Oriental to Bath in the cabin on top of the #3 with an icepack on the sprained knee. That boat really hates me.[Edited on August 5, 2005 at 6:53 PM. Reason : Shit I got it confused with NCYRA]
8/5/2005 6:52:34 PM
I had a Bayliner for a whileit was a capri1950... I/Onever gave me problems that any other boat wouldn't have
8/5/2005 6:55:51 PM
Our spin pole likes to open up for no good reason. you can be gybing and get the sheet in, then go to attach at the pole and bam--time to start over. Even well into a gybe it may decide it no longer likes sheets. I hate that fucking pole.
8/5/2005 9:56:24 PM
you guys don't have EZ-ends on the poles? do the sheets just pop out or something?
8/5/2005 10:02:55 PM
Yes we do, but we have the pre-redesign model. This is the reason it was redesigned.
8/5/2005 10:08:29 PM
need sleep, must get up early
8/5/2005 10:21:20 PM
i hate when spinnaker poles do that.
8/6/2005 12:41:25 AM
i've been one a few mid 90's bayliners that the glass had began to separate all over the place ...and its thinner than most to start with so i was real about it. for a family boat.. you can't beat a sea-ray and for a fast boat you can't beat a fountain (unless you go custom or cat then you can't beat nordic(afforable),pier 57, or platinum ($texas))... there are about a dozen company's who do great jobs with cc fishing boats though.
8/6/2005 9:38:47 PM

My vote is for the Yellowfin 34[Edited on August 7, 2005 at 11:08 AM. Reason : broken link]
8/7/2005 11:04:12 AM
i'd rather have the cuddy & diesels on 34' boat though
8/7/2005 11:45:59 AM
I'll just couchfish I guess
8/7/2005 3:04:43 PM

8/7/2005 4:19:57 PM
That Yellowfin 34 is sexxxxy as hell. *drool*
8/7/2005 5:35:50 PM
it is pretty but... i'd rather get good gas milage and its been proven that diesel clatter attracts fish
8/7/2005 5:38:02 PM
one day I'll own a machine like that I'm partial to diesel too, but damn, that boat is nice[Edited on August 7, 2005 at 5:39 PM. Reason : s]

Formula 40 'Extreme' Catamaran made by Volvo (yes the car people).
8/7/2005 7:32:29 PM
there is a volvo marine too. btw... you could make a nifty hydro foil that i bet would help those boats go wicked fast.
8/8/2005 7:41:24 AM
for those of of you w/ an hp addiction tripple blown bigblocks @ about 140-150ish
8/8/2005 8:03:41 AM
sumfoo: you mean like this?
8/8/2005 8:12:38 AM
omg... 1st single mast sail boat to take my breath awayif you could adjust the up/down force on the foils by adjusting their pitch... ooooooof thatwould be sooo awesome [Edited on August 8, 2005 at 8:22 AM. Reason : .]
8/8/2005 8:21:48 AM
you can.its "flown" by a joystick. They almost sailed it across the ocean but they hit a shipping container and broke off a foil.the only "not cool" thing about it is that its 100% built, owned and sailed by frenchmen.(imagine the smell)
8/8/2005 8:25:47 AM
oooof... and the hairy women he has on it when he's tryin to pimp it out haha thanks man do you have any links to articles on it ?

maugan, arcgreek: SAYRA regatta this past weekend was awesome... great wind and terrific weather. there were 3 fireballs, too
8/8/2005 9:11:54 AM
Nice,I'm going to be in Myrtle Beach for a catamaran race this weekend, then the last weekend in August I'll be in hatteras for another. We've gotta start ramping up our 2006 Tybee 500 campaign soon. Trey has been selling sunfish like crazy. We're taking applications for regatta groupies now. One week vacation, you see a new beach everyday.
8/8/2005 9:33:55 AM
i'm thinking baout getting a new boat...i was thinking laser or sunfish, but i can get a new fireball hull for less than a new laser with full rigging... and i already have all the rigging for a fireballso, in short, we'll see
8/8/2005 10:05:40 AM
I'd get bored with both a laser and a sunfishI learned to sail on a laser, I remember how uncomfy it was when I was 8 years old.
8/8/2005 10:42:34 AM
That 34 yellowfin is without a doubt one of the best looking CCs around. He recently sold that particular one to go back to a 31. That dark blue hull is awesome but you'd have to wax it at least once every two months or so.

There should be some there on NC Waterman. If not, try Stanmans site. Look in the library there. Hopefully the link will work for you.http://www.captainstanman.us/forum/sitenews.asp

He writes a lot of the watersports articles for SI and has written a book or two. His site is pretty fucking hilarious and it deals with all kinds of "extreme wet sports" not just sailing.

Maugan: I have already talked to Trey about it . It's going to depend on a lot though. If i graduate i'm going to cowles week. there is talk of my boat going south in the spring-- key west week, miami, etc. I may be on the broke side Dgm: what is the one design scene like in the south for fireballs? I know there is a big following for Lasers...Glad to hear Dragon's Breathe went well, I was at Dragon's Breathe
