look, we have already determined that the hotel downtown is one of the better places to be. the problem is that it is a few miles from campus, thus we are limited to University Towers, if time is a major issue. Also, you are NOT going to be able to get out of town due to the clogged roads.
4/17/2005 10:32:54 PM
actually my roommate made a good point... the UT cafeteria might have more food stockpiled as they are used to cooking in greater quantity.
4/17/2005 10:34:01 PM
If we could get into Thompson Theatre, there's tons of tools, welding materials and hammers. You could easily build up a vehicle or weapons. You could use the work tables to barricade the doors.
4/17/2005 10:45:35 PM
no food, and there is no fallback area.
4/17/2005 10:50:05 PM
I'm talking about making a run over there before it gets bad, not staying there.
4/17/2005 11:01:07 PM
4/17/2005 11:11:07 PM
^^10-4. that might be a good plan. Of course, i'm sure there is some equipment around UT in closets and whatnot.
4/17/2005 11:11:09 PM
What about the old armory in Pullen?
4/17/2005 11:15:19 PM
I the answer is to get out of RaleighI live in a place with a better chance of survivalrelatively high distribution of firearms, not as densely populated, lots of 4 wheel drive vehicles
4/17/2005 11:25:20 PM
I can't think of a decent place to go around here in Winston. Too deep in the city to get out fast, and I can't think of a place that would be secure and have food.
4/17/2005 11:27:01 PM
currently, my neighbors and close friends could equip a small army based on the firearms they personally ownhowever, I would want to go to Macclesfield because my friend literally has an armory out there at his house... in a rural area
4/17/2005 11:28:33 PM
you guys take over UT, then i become part of the group by default, because i have the advantage of having read this thread, and you wont be able to get me out of the buildingplus i won a few rifle sharpshooter awards in my HS daysi could pick off zombies that look like celebs when we get bored ]
4/17/2005 11:30:20 PM
actually, you could be the inside guy... you could prepare the building for our arrival. i'm thinking a false message from the "national guard" to evacuate towards the fairgrounds might get the people out of the building.
4/17/2005 11:33:48 PM
yeah, except for my cats being in raleigh i like going to school in the boonies.........and if i can get to dads...........he has guns and stuff
4/17/2005 11:33:57 PM
yeah i know where all the keys and shit are, and how to get into the basement where all the maintainence crew's tools and shit is
4/17/2005 11:36:02 PM
you could stockpile plywood in your room or hide it somewhere in the blding for sealing the doors
4/17/2005 11:40:36 PM
I'd trust a full barricade more for the doors--save the plywood to cover windows.
4/17/2005 11:41:58 PM
just use the damn closet door mirrors with the metal behind themthey arent very strong, but im thinking 4 or 5 back to back should be fineand there are 4 in every room]
4/17/2005 11:42:45 PM
it would be nice if we could keep the zombies out of the fenced in pool area too
4/17/2005 11:46:51 PM
the fence is high enough for the shamblers, but not for sprinters
4/17/2005 11:48:02 PM
well lets pray for the former.
4/17/2005 11:48:34 PM
but then again, fucking a girl by the pool, all that moaning and shit is just gonna fuck up the moodand another point, are we going to have time to get by the middle school to get 2 females for smath?
4/17/2005 11:50:58 PM
i only want women of child bearing age in this scenario[Edited on April 17, 2005 at 11:59 PM. Reason : a]
4/17/2005 11:52:06 PM
In this scenario?
4/17/2005 11:53:03 PM
shit, just all you guys run here immediately, and bring any guns you canjust pick out 2 bimbos from the UT residency (in high supply) and then we kick the rest out
4/17/2005 11:53:15 PM
you guys are dumb as hell thinking you're gonna "repopulate" the Earthyou'll be lucky to survive 6 monthsand your death is inevitable
4/17/2005 11:53:52 PM
yeah survival is lowif the zombies don't get you, the diseases all that rotting flesh causes will
4/17/2005 11:55:53 PM
after about 3 months, the first wave of zombies will have just fallen aparti dont care if the brain still works, if fresh blood isnt going to joints and shit, that shit aint staying together
4/17/2005 11:55:59 PM
haha you think that all you like buddythey'll be waiting there to eat you longer than you can imagine
4/17/2005 11:57:06 PM
for realfort macon
4/17/2005 11:58:50 PM
personally, I'd like to be with the Michigan militia or the Montana Freemen
4/18/2005 12:00:55 AM
yeah the Zombies wont last all that longits Mr. X and Nemesis that will fuck your shit up
4/18/2005 12:00:56 AM
if the zombies run out of brains and whatnot to eat, they will starve and die. in 6 months, we would be home free.
4/18/2005 12:01:07 AM
there would still be a few zombie, you know people that had to look for food or starve, safe houses that got compromised, etc, that just havent had time to fall apart yetbut those numbers should be small enough to take care of by raiding a gun store or some shit

Guys, as a Fort Macon loca, I am going to have to tell you that it will not work. There's a road that leads directly to the Fort which would make acces to it by scavengers (a la '78 DOTD) to attack us. True, we have a moat to fill, but getting seawater and such and such to full said moat would prove most difficult. I guess we could escape using the waterway that is near Fort Macon, but let me tell you this: those seas are rough and dangerous, and only for the experienced boatsman. I can't tell you how much of a dangerous history that coastline has nor how much the Coast Guard (there's a base near the fort) goes out to save fishermen and the like. The fort was built for invasion by ships. It was meant to be a maritime fort--meaning that it can hold off soldiers, zombies, what have you for a time, it will eventually fall. History proves this if you just look back to the Civil War. In addition, Fort Macion is just simply to open. Zombies could climb a hill near the fort and be right in there with us. The stonework would not be conducive for long term survival, especially coastal winters. You would be surrounded by the undead and eventually become one of them if you decide this defensive location. The only advantage that Fort Macon has is that we have quick access the Atlantic Ocean, which would be useful in boat situation. Zombies can't swim those waters. Morehead City I think would just head over to Atlantic Beach, explode the bridge, and start having a druken bon-fire party that would but pagans to shame. That's what the whole town has wanted to do for a long, long time, as long as I can remember, and we'll have it for whatever reason--zombies, aliens, mutant vampires from Venus. I would definitely advise just being near a large body of water when this happens. Get your kids, wife, dog (could serve as dinner in rough times), and a lot of warm clothes, weapons, reading materials for anti-boredom, board games, go out to sea (not too far) and set anchor in the ocean. You don't really have to go that far to be safe. You could just be wear the waves break. Remember your fishining equipment. For survival during hurricanes, that's a different matter.

^must be late 'cause I be spelling bad.
4/18/2005 1:32:07 AM
Snewf definitely does not get a place in the survivor group. He lacks vision, and he's too much of a pessimist. We will repopulate the Earth, we will survive, we can outlast the zombies. Mark my words, three months, tops. Then they'll waste away and we can set to rebuilding civilization. And I really need to watch this thread more closely so I can call dibs on the more zombie-competent females. ---Moving onto other business, I can't believe I'm having to say this again, but, here goes:YOU AREN'T GOING TO BE ABLE TO TRAVEL. YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO GO TO MICHIGAN. YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO FLEE TO THE COUNTRY. YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO GO TO A DAMN FORT ON THE BEACH. At least, not for a while.Make your plans for places you will conceivably be near -- namely, the campus, and whatever your permanent residence is.---If we were to hit up the Army reserve place on Western early, before other looters, we'd probably be able to get our hands on some pieces in all the chaos. Alternatively, if we snuck a couple of people over there after everything died down a little bit (read: everyone else is zombified but us), there'll probably be something still lying around. That said, firearms aren't really all that necessary -- a gun only holds so many bullets, but a baseball bat never runs out of ammo.---I'd say we've pretty effectively narrowed it down to UT or the Clarion/Holiday Inn. UT is the most likely scenario, owing to proximity. As a result, NCSUStinger is in as our inside man. That brings the current list of people in the group -- and if I've forgotten you please correct me -- to the following:Male:GrumpyGOPFroshkillerSupermanSmath74JH PriceWraithEasy MacNCSUStingerFemale:NerdchickaleeMetriculasilvrrainStill Pending:CalledToArmsWe still have room for two males, assuming we reject CalledToArms, and one otherwise. Applications still open.[Edited on April 18, 2005 at 2:39 AM. Reason : ]

A motorcycle or dirt bike might be a good idea to have. They would be excellent for making quick dashes for food/supplies if necessary because they would be fast and easy to manuever. The only problem would be their small size = not much room to storage space, and if you get swarmed with zombies you don't have much of a way out. Their small size would be an advantage to keeping them inside though. There are a few around campus, if we were able to get them working, 2-3 people could ride to Food Lion on Western with a few backpacks and stock up on canned food and Ramen once supplies start getting low. A backpack full of canned food could last for a few weeks and we could drink the juice that the canned vegetables/fruits come in. Snipers (if we had rifles) could be on the top of UT picking off any zombies that try to attack them on the way.[Edited on April 18, 2005 at 8:15 AM. Reason : ]

Hey, does anyone in the survivor group has any weird genetic diseases that run in his family? We should keep that stuff to a minimum...
4/18/2005 12:48:59 PM
if you posted a serious reply to this thread youre a fag
4/18/2005 12:53:43 PM
yeah, and when the zombies strike, who is more likely to survive? huh? no genetic diseases here.
4/18/2005 1:41:49 PM
No diseases at all. I'm not as fit as I should be, but otherwise my health is impeccable.Good thinking, by the way. I was thinking last night about how anyone with chronic illnesses would have to go -- diabetics, etc. We won't have fucking insulin in UT.
