The Hound is a beast, and Arya using needle was epic

Boom, so glad they didn't stretch that out over a couple episodes.

I love this series. Nobody is safe.

Think of the Tyrion!
4/14/2014 12:25:02 AM
Only one person died and not one titPretty unusual episode
4/14/2014 12:33:59 AM
Wooooooo!!So Oberyn Martell prime suspect. Though I wish in her quiet reserve and mourning it was Sansa.
4/14/2014 8:21:49 AM
First thought at the end of the episode:"Ding-dong the bitch is dead!"
4/14/2014 8:39:02 AM
Actually...poison is a rather female thing to do. Oberyn would probably much rather physically kill and flay Joffrey or his children or something. Sticking with my hope that it was Sansa that it is in fact Sansa. She was next to last to touch the cup and the wine already was at the table so it couldn't have been the wine itself. Unless it was the pie. "This pie is dry!"
4/14/2014 8:58:26 AM
After the episode first thing I did was gloat about how after 2 episodes this show has had more action than the entire last season of walking dead. I'm so glad that asshole is dead.
4/14/2014 9:10:53 AM
i'm thinking it was the pie and not the wine as he was the only person to have eaten it. as for my list of suspects, in order of most suspected: Oberyn, Margaery, Tywin/Cersei, Lady Olenna, Sansa. but at this point, it really could be anyone. with that said though, i do not think it was Tyrion. as much as Tyrion hated Joffrey i don't see him going to those lengths. Cersei was quick to point the finger at him too which makes me wonder too. ugh so many possibilities! lolwe need CSI: King's Landing [Edited on April 14, 2014 at 9:24 AM. Reason : .]
4/14/2014 9:23:11 AM
Didn't Margery eat the pie too? And even if not, wouldn't there be a high risk for her (or someone else) to eat some pie before Joffrey started showing symptoms of the poison? Also, definitely not Tyrion. He's WAY too smart for that. If he were to poison Joffrey, he'd set it up enough to where there is no way he could be a suspect.
4/14/2014 9:36:57 AM
I don't think she did. She fed him and I don't remember her taking a bite.CSI king's landing hahah
4/14/2014 9:48:44 AM
I don't think it was Sansa, she just seems too "shell-shocked" half the time to actually come up with that plan, plus she knows that Tyrion would be the first person accused of poisoning him and she'd be lumped in with him being his wife.I thought the way they kept showing Lady Tyrell was odd, so my guess is she had something to do with it if she didn't outright do it herself. The wine goblet was sitting right in front of her, would have been very easy to slip something in while everyone else was paying attention to Joffrey cutting open the pie.I really thought the necklace that Sansa got would have been the necklace used in the wedding by the bride, but it looked like she was still wearing it at the wedding so must be some other reason they gave it to her. Thought the necklace looked different though. Seems odd they'd just show an entire scene about that necklace not to have it have some meaning unless it was just establishing why the Fool would help her at the wedding.
4/14/2014 10:04:35 AM
I'd love for it to be Sansa, but how would she know the cup would get kicked over to her and give her a chance? Other than that, it would seem pretty odd for her to be near his cup at any point. What about that dude who gave her the necklace and was immediately was telling her to come with him? He seemed to be acting pretty cool in a hectic situationand who becomes king now?[Edited on April 14, 2014 at 10:23 AM. Reason : asdf]
4/14/2014 10:22:25 AM
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Cersei has no more authority than Tyrion himself. So I don't see any reason for anyone to be grapping Tyrion and putting him into custody. Pretty obvious it wasn't him. I'd almost think it was Cersei herself, but she looked way too distraught for that to be the case.Where does this leave "Queen" Margaery? She had been queen for not even half a day. Is she the most powerful (at least in the public's eye) person in King's Landing for now? Or will she just be demoted back to a "Lady"?
4/14/2014 10:24:32 AM
Yeah my prime suspects are Sansa and Oberyn. So Margaery was named Queen, but I can't imagine she'd stay ruler with no King and no designated heir. So who in King's Landing has immediate claim to the throne? Tywin?
4/14/2014 10:28:10 AM
Tommen is king now. In the event that a king dies (or I guess abdicates) without officially declaring his heir and he has no children, his next younger brother takes the throne. Although in the GoT universe it has lately been "Whoever has the largest army".And I guess Cersei is Queen Regent again now that Joffrey is dead and Margery is no longer queen -- until Tommen gets married, he's technically the only one that will have more power than her (although we all know Tywin has the money so he's really the one pulling the strings)
4/14/2014 10:28:29 AM
i assumed it was dontas the fool. why is no one else suspecting him? he looked guilty as fuck, the way it all went down.
4/14/2014 10:57:05 AM
That was my first thought. He went straight to her and was like "lets run now". He wasn't even dead yet.
4/14/2014 11:05:17 AM
I don't see how the Fool could have gotten close enough to poison him. He never got near the goblet, the table, or the wine unless you're speculating that the poison was in the pie(not absurd but seems weird after all the attention put towards the wine/goblet).Poison seemed to be fast-acting, it had to be planted in between him putting it down(on the Tyrell side of the stage) and him drinking it after the cutting of the pie. That would basically rule out any of the Lannisters, including Sansa. Really seems like the only options would be Margaery and Lady Tyrell. I could see it being either of those, but my money is on Lady Tyrell, she just seems more conniving, almost like a female Tywin. She knew how crazy Joffrey was from talking to Sansa, she probably knew what Joffrey would have done to Margaery on their wedding night. (Would also give Margaery motive because we know how crazy dude was with women)
4/14/2014 11:11:08 AM
i really don't think it was the fool. at least not on his own.. i could see him working with Lady Olenna to help Sansa escape. for example, Lady Olenna sets up the distraction, ie Joffrey's death, and the fool jumps in at first notice to grab Sansa to escape.
4/14/2014 11:13:32 AM
^That makes more sense than many of the other theories. Perhaps he gave her the necklace to garner her trust.Still don't get why they spent time showing Lady Tyrell sending out her servants looking for this nice necklace and then all of a sudden the Fool gives Sansa a necklace in the same episode. Not sure the meaning of it all, but this show doesn't really show scenes for no reason, so that has to end up meaning something.

Minor spoiler I guess:It has never been revealed in the books who did it as far as I remember, although there are some theories. So book readers have to speculate also./spoiler

And glad the guy that said that didn't tell us which person he was talking about.Personally hoping we're all wrong and it's something out of left field, like Jamie.[Edited on April 14, 2014 at 12:18 PM. I won't go any further into it here so as not to reveal any spoilers but AndyMac it does reveal who is behind it in the books. We can move over to the other thread if you wanna talk about it more.

I bet it was Vayon Poole or Derwa Frey, actually I'm pretty positive its one of them

It's funny, in the book the actual person (people?) responsible for Joffrey's death doesn't really matter to the larger story. It'll be a fun thing for show watchers to speculate about but it's ultimately one of those things that just sorta happened and then the story moves on. What's important is that Tyrion was accused of doing it.I will say, they did an amazing job of putting all the puzzle pieces out there for show watchers to put together. All you need is a couple choice screenshots.[Edited on April 14, 2014 at 1:00 PM. Reason : :]

Yeah I imagine that there are multiple people involved with the plot to poison the King, so we're probably only scratching the surface with our theories anyway. Will be disappointed if they never really divulge who does it on the show though.^Now that you say that about the choice screenshots, I might have to go back and watch the episode and go CSI mode now that I know to look out for things.Plus the previews for next week make it look like it's definitely not Margaery(she tells Lady Tyrell "but I would have been Queen") and that Tyrion was definitely made out to be the fall-guy in this whole ordeal.

I'm a little surprised no one mentioned Tommen as a darkhorse since he was next in line for the throne...
4/14/2014 1:36:41 PM
oh yeah, that's a good guess. he is probably working with Derwa
4/14/2014 1:39:27 PM
