now, am i gonna be able to get the legit OTA update when it comes?also, google voice is really pissing me off - haven't been able to receive calls and half the outgoing ones won't connect[Edited on August 20, 2010 at 1:47 PM. Reason : ]

AFAIK, nothing has been mentioned about it blocking OTA so as long as the official version is newer you "should" be fine. If not, you can always sbf back to stock and install the official Froyo. And since no one reads the 49th postLeaked Froyo for the Droid X@ http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/droid-x-discussion/4112-mydroidworld-exlusive-droid-x-froyo-everyone-including-non-rooted-phones.htmlBlur'd Froyo on the Droid X
8/20/2010 1:54:15 PM
omg, installed it - fucking phone is lagging to shit now.
8/20/2010 2:06:16 PM
lol. give it a day or so. Those who updated to the leaked and even official Froyo on the Droid were reporting lag but things improved after a couple days of use.]
8/20/2010 2:20:13 PM
i wanna install froyo on my DX, but i dont wanna fuck up any shit
8/20/2010 2:25:51 PM
#8 on linpacks droid x devices, rofl.
8/20/2010 2:28:55 PM
^i confirm lol
8/20/2010 2:32:36 PM
6 now. fantastic. im' world famous
8/20/2010 2:32:56 PM
and you say you installed the leaked 2.2?is yours rooted? everything on mine is stock at the momenti just ran Quadrant and placed between the DX and the Nexus one 2.2+ on the bar graph thing[Edited on August 20, 2010 at 2:35 PM. Reason : ]
8/20/2010 2:34:29 PM
nah, never rooted itall i know is i was getting 5's on linpack prior to this...and a few min after booting it, the sluggishness went away. still want the official OTA, though [Edited on August 20, 2010 at 2:37 PM. Reason : ][Edited on August 20, 2010 at 2:37 PM. Reason : ]

droid-life posted a new video of what flash looks like, and it was pretty smoothhave you tried that yet
8/20/2010 2:38:15 PM
DURR, wow, can't believe i hadn't tried that. give me a few.
8/20/2010 2:39:29 PM
Apparently the TI processors hate linpack. The N1 is hitting the 40's and 50's.And on a Droid 1 note, installed Simply Stunning 4.7 last night and it beats the shit out of Sapphire and Cyanogenmod.http://www.droidforums.net/forum/chevyno1/71611-ss-4-7-faster-more-statusbar-options-music-controls.html
8/20/2010 2:40:14 PM
lol i thought you were being a dick at first, all like "durr you mean the biggest part of the froyo update? have i tried that yet? naaaaww..."[Edited on August 20, 2010 at 2:41 PM. Reason : hate the auto http ]
8/20/2010 2:40:48 PM
^heh...nah. and now i can't think of anything that requires flash other than hulu
8/20/2010 2:44:29 PM
well load this webpage, it's got an embedded youtube video, it should play within the webpage
8/20/2010 2:46:15 PM
wait, has verizon released 2.2 yet? did y'all mean ATK as in advanced task killer? so I need to get rid of that before 2.2 will be pushed?i'm confused from the last page.
8/20/2010 2:48:09 PM
^ nah, they haven't released it yet^^ video loads great! man, flash is rocking it now.also, my battery is dying like a mother f'er now (not flash related)[Edited on August 20, 2010 at 2:50 PM. Reason : ]
8/20/2010 2:50:46 PM
^When I was asking about ATK, I was referring to Advanced Task Killer. I didn't end up installing it. Picked up System Monitor Lite that someone mentioned earlier instead. As far as the 2.2 thing, I believe that was whatpttyndal was referring to as far as 2.2 not coming through to the Droid.
8/20/2010 2:53:31 PM
8/20/2010 2:54:32 PM
oops -
8/20/2010 2:57:01 PM
so, if my phone hasn't been rooted, but i install this leaked 2.2 update, will it void the warranty w/ verizon?
8/20/2010 4:05:41 PM
Technically yes if it doesn't end up being the official release so if you have problems, don't call in and expect verizon to support it. In the event that something does happen, you can almost always get it back to stock using rsdlite and verizon won't know.
8/20/2010 4:23:35 PM
ok I apologize for the newbish questions. Regardless of any other questions I run across this weekend, I'll make this the last set I ask this week:Is there anything out there that will refresh/sync gmail when the phone wakes up but not do any auto-syncing / refreshing of my mail beyond that except for manual pushes? For example, the weather on beautiful widgets is a perfect example of what I would like: it has a setting that lets the weather refresh when the phone is woken up, but outside of that it I can have it not looking to update the weather at all on its own. I love that a lot more than setting a frequency, real-time, or completely manually.
8/20/2010 4:37:13 PM
....found out the google voice problem. somehow my number had been unchecked in options so it wouldn't forward anything to my phone...and my damn text options got changed so it forwarded those, too
8/20/2010 5:15:21 PM
and my npr app is borked. i wonder if it's 2.2 or a temp error
8/20/2010 5:34:31 PM
ugh, apparently that's common - looks like i'll be factory resetting this weekend
8/20/2010 6:08:30 PM
im glad i held off...i downloaded that update.zip file to my computer, maybe ill just go ahead and delete that too
8/20/2010 8:05:04 PM
8/20/2010 8:22:46 PM
well ^^^ is saying something about factory resetting his, and im not quite savvy w/ messing around with phone OS's and potentially fuckin shit up
8/20/2010 8:25:34 PM
I thought he was referring to his NPR app not working. I don't know why that would require a factory reset of all things.
8/20/2010 8:41:14 PM
Serious question. Now that I have the stock 2.2 (never rooted before) for my Droid... what exciting new things can I do with it? Having 5 screens doesn't really mean anything to me. I haven't much followed what some of the changes are. Can you tether with it? Is battery life better?
8/20/2010 9:26:01 PM
Want to reset bc I use that Npr like crazy and apparently that's normal with 2.2?
8/20/2010 9:50:02 PM
My quadrant score after a little tweaking. Linpack gets around 14 MFLOPS. I don't know if I even need custom roms now. I like my phone the way it is right now. If only I could get verizon to reactive it everything would be great ]
8/21/2010 5:22:42 AM
Are there any android phones for ATT better than the iPhone?
8/21/2010 9:40:52 AM
Better is subjective but I've heard good things about AT&T's version on the galaxy s, the captivate. That's pretty much the only decent android phone on AT&T as far as I know.
8/21/2010 11:14:20 AM
The Captivate is a pretty sweet phone. The Dell Streak is pretty neat. The x10 has a nice camera. The Aria is a pretty powerful phone for what it is. And the Backflip has a nice keyboard.
8/21/2010 11:07:12 PM
Sony Xperia, it's pretty sweet. pretty much the same as the samsung.
8/22/2010 7:52:36 AM
lol, Motorola is pissed
8/22/2010 9:48:48 AM
^^excepting that it has a lesser CPU/GPU, screen, less on board storage, and lacks multitouch.http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/21/exclusive-motorola-mb520-kobe-slate-att-android-blur-droid-x/doesn't look like a bad phone by any means. 3 MP camera seems pathetic, but that 800Mhz processor and the same GPU as in the Droid X/2 means it could be a nice phone. http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/19/exclusive-dell-thunder-prototype-preview-video/more Dell Thunder news[Edited on August 22, 2010 at 3:26 PM. After 4 days of mediocre battery life on my Droid X, it suddenly completely changed for the better. The last 2 days have been phenomenal. Yesterday it was off the charger for 16 hours and was still at 60% when I went to bed. Off the charger at 7:30 this morning and 11 hours later it is still at 90%.

Damn, just missed the edit window. I started to amend my earlier post but got distracted. Overall the phone has been awesome. The only place it seems the least bit laggy for me is on the unlock screen. Luckily it doesn't affect the actual ability to unlock it (that is really easy), the animation is just really laggy. Other than that, scrolling through my app tray, between homescreens, on the web etc. has been perfectly smooth, battery life is now looking awesome after a few power cycles, and I don't notice the phone being any bigger than my last phone to carry around. I do however notice how much screen real estate there is. Definitely glad I went with the X. Thanks to those who still recommended it after I had hesitated only due to the size
8/22/2010 6:54:26 PM
mine is somewhat laggy on the App screen scroll, but not all the time

My phone comes Tuesday...super stoked. My Storm 1 keeps losing parts and looks like it was dropped from a 10-story building a few times. Should be a decent upgrade.

anyone with the evo going for the epic? i watched the videos and if anything, i'd do it for the AMOLED screen and colors. is the hummingbird processor better than the evo's?is there any way to get sprint to take back the evo and give me an epic instead?
8/23/2010 2:44:48 AM
also, what is the upgrade cycle at sprint...2 years or 1?
