God that would be a boring game.Clearly the better option would be the nation's only two undefeated football teams.LSU vs. Packers![Edited on December 6, 2011 at 9:08 PM. Reason : .]

San Diego State to the Big East? I guess if you go east far enough...^ Also, thanks for the warning there pal. Over/under on the number of Dr. Pepper commercials featuring Pitbull during the Rose Bowl.[Edited on December 8, 2011 at 11:28 AM. Reason : -]

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7332827/jim-delany-supports-bcs-changes-long-big-ten-rose-bowlOh this is nice. Jim Delany says he would support getting rid of automatic qualifiers as long as a team from his conference still automatically qualifies for the Rose Bowl.I still don't understand the Big 10 and PAC 12's attachment to playing each other in Pasadena.EDIT: Oh, Pre-BCS the Rose Bowl paid out 3x+ as much as the Sugar Bowl. THAT'S why they want to keep a stranglehold on it. Fuck'm. Make a playoff and if they don't want to participate they can just opt-out. Most slots open for better teams.[Edited on December 8, 2011 at 7:06 PM. Reason : /]

wow... Ohio State applied for, and GOT, a waiver by the NCAA that will allow them to have two concurrently running coaching staffs for a while. The current one can do all the bowl game prep work while Meyer's staff (minus Fickell) can go out and start recruiting. Must be nice to have 16 coaches, prep for the bowl game AND be able to recruit full time. But I guess they deserve a little special attention since they have followed the rules so well thus far. That sound you hear is Brady Hoke having an aneurysm
12/9/2011 12:03:20 PM
Is there a precedent for that? I mean, have allowed anything of that nature before?
12/9/2011 12:55:58 PM
I've never heard of it before... I mean, I guess it could have been done before but it seems like it would be... well, more common. I watch more college football that any human should and I have never heard of something like this... Hell, Fedora should do it with Withers.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7335111/ohio-state-buckeyes-okd-extra-coaches-bowlOSU's assistant compliance director is quoted in the ESPN article saying it's common to ask for this sort of thing in this situation, but the article doesn't have any examples of when it's happened before.I'm sure the 487 comments on the article are all well-thought-out and fully reasoned responses to an unusual situation...

You know, I don't get the resistance, confusion, and/or questions about having a playoff for the FBS. So many "know it alls" say that either the regular season is the playoff because all the games matter (which is false) or that a playoff isn't really needed because outside of the top 2-5, there's such a large drop off a playoff wouldn't result in other teams really getting a chance.Well FCS does their playoff quite well and they see teams from all ranks to well every year.
12/9/2011 11:20:32 PM
yeah but it wouldn't be the fbs if you had a playoff now would it

12/10/2011 2:11:43 PM
That was a fantastic catch.A little more awareness and the defender could have just snatched the ball away, but in that situation it's kind of amazing either of them could tell up from down.

12/10/2011 6:05:50 PM
what a great way. hell, army would have been out of it without a false start from navy at the army 1. i've gotten my close game out of my system. here's to navy winning by 2 TD's plus for another 10 years10 in a row - sing first army[Edited on December 10, 2011 at 8:00 PM. Reason : BEAT ARMY!]

I still feel like the offense should have to at least hike the ball with the defensive lineman across the line of scrimmage for them to get that flag. That was a tough game to watch. Multiple fumbles on both sides, some lost. It was starting to feel like there was a fumble every 5 minutes of game clock. That one guy returning the kickoffs for Army always felt like he needed to jump in the air as he got tackled. That behavior contributed to a lost fumble at least once. Dude, you aren't trying to cross a goal line, you don't have to jump when you're bringing the kickoff up the field.[Edited on December 10, 2011 at 8:06 PM. Reason : -]

12/10/2011 10:26:41 PM
wow, people really hate Luck on here hahah, so random.I dont care either way but he seems like a good guy, good teammate etc.
12/10/2011 10:28:30 PM
i dont hate luck, i hate that he is a heisman frontrunner just b/c he has preseason hype, had a great year LAST year and is a top nfl prospect.not that he didnt have a great year this year, its just that multiple players had better years.he isnt even to 5 in most of the major efficiency stats, much less the bulk statsrg3 and rw both had better years against better competition
12/10/2011 10:41:56 PM
Well that was a pretty entertaining event. The lines to get in were long, so we missed Army marching on to the field, but we watched then march off while sitting at the 50 yard line in the lower level and then watched Navy march on to the field before we left to go to our seats. My camera is only a x5, so I couldn't zoom in really close, but I have a pretty good picture of the president arriving in the Marine 1. I was so high up that you can't really tell who anyone is on the field.
