10/26/2012 1:43:51 PM
got up this morning and rode my bike to NoDa Brewing for the special release of their Pacific Reign Imperial IPA. 8 miles round trip, great ride, even better beer. ]
10/27/2012 2:54:54 PM

I went ahead and looked it up just to check
10/29/2012 11:06:10 AM
so i mixed up espresso and chocolate, spot on with the rest
10/29/2012 11:46:32 AM
The Espresso is one of my favorite stouts. God...I love Stout/Porter weather.
10/29/2012 11:48:26 AM
Same. I'm hopefully going to get an espresso one this week. It showed up on Total Wine near me as "in stock" this weekend and I called to ask and apparently someone found an extra one from the previous batch in the back. Even better with the little bit of aging. Hopefully it's still there when I get time to swing by.
10/29/2012 11:50:43 AM
has anybody tried that "real" hoegaarden i hear they make in Texas? hahah texas. whyd he go there of all places

10/29/2012 2:54:12 PM
Picked up a Southern Tier Mokah at Kroger (of all places) tonight. I was a huge fan of their Choklat last year, so I'm excited about seeing how it combines with the coffee flavor. Though we had to order that one online...kind of surprised to see the Mokah randomly in a grocery store. Much easier to find, or was I just lucky?
10/29/2012 6:32:53 PM
Sam's in Durham had a few cases of it the other week. All gone now though.
10/29/2012 8:07:12 PM
Perhaps I should go back for another bottle or two. They also had the Javah. (This is in Richmond btw, Cary Street Kroger.)
10/30/2012 1:30:42 AM
Finally got my 2 bottles of Dissident, w00t!
10/30/2012 11:06:55 AM
anyone ordered from Halftime Beverage?Free shipping on orders over $100. They have some things like Bourbon County, Sofie, Speedway Stout, World Wide Stout.
10/30/2012 11:08:08 AM
Nah but heard good things from them.... they also have Maine Zoe & Mo along with Brooklyn Black Chocolate StoutJust got my 2 bottles of Black Tuesday!!!! Sold out in 10 min. Yeah! Expensive, but good month for beer hauls![Edited on October 30, 2012 at 1:19 PM. Reason : .]
10/30/2012 1:13:36 PM
i freaking love stockyard oatmeal stout this time of year...a 91 at beeradvocate, too...and at $6.50/6-pack, it's a great dealalso, had my first dogfish head 120 IPA while camping this past weekend (aged just shy of 6 months)...it was a gift from a friend, but i think they're, what, $10/bottle? i would never pay for it myself, but it IS extremely good, IMO[Edited on October 30, 2012 at 2:16 PM. Reason : aged]

Lagunitas Brown Shugga is finally back!
10/30/2012 2:19:52 PM
Bottlemixx in north Raleigh (behind Briggs) has a wonderful selection of brews.
10/30/2012 8:39:12 PM
lol Bottlemixx. I was laughing about the name of this place with someone the other day.
10/30/2012 8:41:07 PM
yeah, the name leaves a bit to be desired (as in not sounding like "butthole mix") but they've got about 600 beers or so, and everything can be purchased by the bottle (no need for 6packs).
10/30/2012 8:50:29 PM
Not sure if any of you guys are interested in this, but it looks like this place is doing free shipping for orders over $50.http://www.holidaywinecellar.com/default.aspxPost any good finds you see on there
10/30/2012 8:57:24 PM
lol did my post get deleted hahhaha nope, somehow managed to post it in the ladies talk shop thread http://thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=632062[Edited on October 30, 2012 at 9:09 PM. Reason : irony? no but still funny]
10/30/2012 9:04:56 PM
^^there are some things that I could warrant spending $50 on. AleSmith Speedway Stout, Hair of the Dog Adam, etc. Russian River Beers you have to call to order, so not sure if they are in stock or not. I may send an email and ask.
10/31/2012 9:32:02 AM
^ there are several i'm interested in, too, but a lot of them don't say "in stock" (they don't say anything at all)...does that mean i have to call? if so, i think i'll pass
10/31/2012 10:21:29 AM
having "shopped" that store before..a lot of the ones that say "image coming soon" are usually rare/seasonal beers that aren't in stock. and then for some reason they always make you call to order RR Sours. Right now i have a cart with 4 x Maui Coconut Porter (12oz)2 x AleSmith Speedway Stout (22oz)2 x Goose Island Sofie (22oz)2 x Hair of the Dog Adam (12oz)that totals up to be $62.90. Not sure if i'll pull the trigger or not .
10/31/2012 10:35:30 AM
the prices don't seem like anything special...about in line with something like total wine's regular price or at any number of specialty bottle stores...but no tax, free shipping, and the ability to shop without going anywhere might make it worth it if you were going to buy something, anyway
10/31/2012 11:34:54 AM
i don't think the draw is the price but the availability of beers that you can't get in north carolina
10/31/2012 11:52:19 AM
i don't see a lot that i haven't seen locally...though i'm far from an experti just recognize a lot of them*shrug*
10/31/2012 12:38:03 PM
All of the ones I listed above are 90+ rated beers unavailable in NC
10/31/2012 12:57:49 PM
maui and sofie should be inexpensive
10/31/2012 1:19:46 PM
i think on that site the Sofie is $7.99 for a 22oz and the 4 pack of Maui Coconut was $12. not completely unreasonable.

Sierra Nevada celebration is out (and delicious)

Despite the illicit nature of this conversation, I hear http://www.qualityliquorstore.com/ isn't too bad.
10/31/2012 5:07:13 PM
Ordering liquor online isn't illegal so long as the store has a shipping license and so long as your state allows it, but most online stores check your state before shipping.Quality is good, as well as these others that I frequent:http://www.bineandvine.com/shop/category/beer/http://www.winecommune.com/http://www.knswine.com/Buy_Wine/index.php?p=catalog&parent=3&pg=1http://vendomestore.com/Beers.aspxhttp://www.luekensliquors.comhttp://www.shopmerwins.com/http://www.halftimebeverage.comhttp://brewforia.com/http://www.specsonline.com/cgi-bin/showpage?pageid=beerhttp://beverages4lessinc.com/And various Belgian ones.[Edited on October 31, 2012 at 7:00 PM. i used to live a few miles from the dogfishhead brewery in Lewes Delaware, a great little historic town. (no fuck you, it isnt from rehoboth beach, that is just the bar) 90 minute IPA from them is super good. im sure that 120 minute one is just some shit they whipped up to compete with that chimay garbage. beer isnt supposed to be sweet and sticky god dammit. although, if you pour that shit on some ice cubes it is a little better.
11/1/2012 11:09:23 AM
I think you're missing a whole side of beer if you don't understand malts.
11/1/2012 12:05:26 PM
That cans design turns me off, looks like an energy drink.I'm sure it's delicious though.
11/1/2012 4:31:34 PM
i had quite the opposite first impression, i'd never seen an energy drink that looks like a candy cane before, although i see your point there's no artwork, just a logo. the pumpkin one's were pretty cool too:[Edited on November 1, 2012 at 4:58 PM. Reason : .]

^party pooper. I agree about being turned off by those cans. A lot of canned beer designs turn me off. See Surly.
