Stu played a full 90 in the league cup tonight. Bolton also beat a near first-team Villa squat at Villa Park.

He'd be a huge addition if he finds his form.

Holden out six more months. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/29/sports/soccer/an-injury-setback-for-stuart-holden.htmlIs Freddy Adu going to get a look under Klinsmann. He seemed to be playing decent as Bradley's reign ended. ]
9/29/2011 6:47:39 PM
Didn't he get hurt recently at Philly?I agree he should get a look if healthy, especially since Torres is out for a bit
9/29/2011 7:10:44 PM
I, too, thought Adu played right well in Bradley's last few games.
9/29/2011 7:22:28 PM

10/8/2011 5:51:16 PM
Wasn't this scheduled for earlier today?
10/8/2011 5:52:12 PM
I don't remember the last time we played an afternoon friendly at home so I don't think so
10/8/2011 5:55:29 PM
Maybe not. For some reason I thought it was at 1.
10/8/2011 5:59:32 PM

FSCmight be one of the last national team games on there for a while now that Vs./NBC has rights to MLS/US games along with ESPN[Edited on October 8, 2011 at 6:04 PM. Reason : .]
10/8/2011 6:03:16 PM
balls. don't have FSC.
10/8/2011 6:16:44 PM
It's on Univision, too. That's broadcast.1-0 USA on a great shot by Deuce. To be fair about attendance, it's pouring out there. ]
10/8/2011 6:46:23 PM
Is Mexican Gus Johnson announcing tonight on Univision?
10/8/2011 7:25:53 PM
good game, deuce.
10/8/2011 7:59:06 PM
excellent game by Dempsey.. got robbed on that 2nd goalShea also looked very impressive once again.
10/8/2011 8:01:02 PM
Why was Dempsey wearing Donovan's number?
10/8/2011 8:01:42 PM
Klinsmann doesn't believe in permanent squad numbers. Starters wear 1-11 based on position.
10/8/2011 8:20:57 PM
finally finished it on DVR...Dempsey is a straight up baller. The Shea/Chandler partnership will be gold. Williams had a nice debut. What happened to Edu? I used to think he was so smooth but Bradley's an obvious upgrade, IMO
10/8/2011 9:30:44 PM
agreed. I've always liked Edu in the middle. We need someone in the middle who can control and distribute the ball especially if we are going to stick with Beckerman as a defensive midfielder. Bradley is a little better on the attack IMO. Also, I don't understand the fascination with Orozco Fiscal. He has done nothing to impress me so far. Maybe it's just the fact that we don't have any other options, but if he is the best option we have as a central defender with Boco then we are in trouble.
10/9/2011 11:17:10 AM
starting lineup pretty much the same as the last game with exception of Onyewu is in for Orozco-Fiscal. Kind of wish we would see Bradley in there instead of Edu but also glad to see Williams get another look. He looked pretty solid last game.
10/11/2011 7:12:53 PM
listening to that horn all game ain't gonna fly
10/11/2011 7:32:09 PM
Have we ever controlled the midfield in any match ever?
10/11/2011 7:55:07 PM
holy crap is beckerman always as garbage as he has been tonight? seems like only think he knows how to do with the ball is give it away.
10/11/2011 8:52:49 PM
Reamed.[Edited on October 11, 2011 at 8:57 PM. Reason : Dempsey must wish he was born a few miles south. He's way too good for this team.]
10/11/2011 8:54:27 PM
pretty funny hearing the mexican announcers refer to dempsey as "deuce"
10/11/2011 9:08:56 PM
Beckerman/Edu were shockingly bad.Aside from Dempsey, our best player was Gooch. And that makes me kind of sad.
10/11/2011 9:09:36 PM
^^^ for realWhy would you sub a CB? Let alone our team captain? So strange.[Edited on October 11, 2011 at 9:10 PM. Reason : ^]
10/11/2011 9:10:40 PM
do we really have nobody that can take a decent corner/free kick??
10/11/2011 9:11:03 PM
i think donovan has been the closest thing the US has ever had to a good spot-kick taker
10/11/2011 9:12:02 PM
i mean how many tonight even came close to a US player. there were 4 or 5 that were either directly at an ecuador player or way long/short
10/11/2011 9:14:40 PM
so which brasil team shows up tonight? the brasil that gives a damn or the brasil that missed 5 PKs during copa america?
10/11/2011 9:16:20 PM
I'm not worried about the lack of scoring to be honest. We scored plenty under Bradley in what was most often a defensive lineup.I can now see Dempsey as a second forward just isn't going to work. We don't see enough of the ball in the midfield to get it to him higher up the field so he's naturally going to drift back to get more of it and leave our sucky lone forward up top. We need somebody with speed to be effective as a second forward and who doesn't necessarily need to the ball at his feet the majority of the time. Agudelo definitely. Donovan? Shea?
10/11/2011 9:38:32 PM
^^^ touche'
10/11/2011 9:45:59 PM
Eric Wynalda is the man
10/11/2011 10:02:38 PM
it's an absolute disgrace that a player like Beckerman is even allowed on the same field with national-level playersgive me 5 Deuces and Sheas
10/11/2011 10:20:45 PM
Brek Shea is the bomb. That is all.
10/12/2011 3:18:33 AM
How bad will the drubbing be?
11/11/2011 9:08:48 AM
France isn't exactly killin' fools and our defense seems pretty tight lately. Plus, I think they're planning on playing a lot of young players.Don't get me wrong, I think we will get dominated in most areas but I'm not expecting us to lose 5-0 or anything.
11/11/2011 9:10:49 AM
Yeah I saw that France is actually going to be trying out a lot of their younger players and Nasri and Gourcoff are both not playing.I'm trying to be optimistic and Klinnsman hasn't had both Donovan and Dempsey together on the field yet... Why am I reading Beckerman might start again?!
11/11/2011 9:13:24 AM
I miss Stu.
11/11/2011 9:14:30 AM
11/11/2011 9:22:38 AM
yeah but he's the future after Donovan/Dempsey. So it's exciting that he's shown he can actually do something at the international level already.I read that he wiill be training with Arsenal for a month.[Edited on November 11, 2011 at 9:36 AM. Reason : will be, not was]
11/11/2011 9:33:39 AM
http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/us-star-brek-shea-arrives-for-experience-I didn't know they were allowed to do stuff like this...
11/11/2011 9:38:39 AM
yeah, happens all the time. It's basically an extended trial. (not that I actually expect Arsenal to sign him)
11/11/2011 9:42:47 AM
11/11/2011 9:49:02 AM
^Only thing I can point to is that he looks German.
11/11/2011 9:55:15 AM
He's got the pace/size needed to make a difference, first of all. He's got the confidence to take guys on, shoot, etc that a lot of players don't have. He reminds me of Dempsey in that regard. Dempsey has always tried to do the spectacular and it came off as too ambitious/cocky/wasteful when he was coming up but now he's probably the most creative attacking player we've ever had. Not saying Shea is the next Dempsey but I think he will become a similar threat soon enough.Watch him for a bit off the ball and see how much more intelligent he is than somebody like Jozy. His runs open up space and create so much more than Jozy who basically backs into the box from about 40 yards out in a straight line.I'm not crowning his ass or anything but it's a breath of fresh air for us.** I agree that he's been somewhat anonymous in the last few friendlies. I'm just saying I don't think he's a flash in the pan or got lucky in his first few appearances.[Edited on November 11, 2011 at 10:02 AM. Reason : .]
