I think what he means is that Brown is the more well rounded player. He is an excellent defender (a good bit better than Wall), has a good jumper, and has a high bball IQ. Wall though is an athletic freak and is basically a bigger Ty Lawson. Both are good players and I'd love to have both on my team.
2/18/2009 7:01:27 PM
^ but if you had to pick, you would take Brown over Wall?
2/18/2009 7:02:19 PM
brown has a better jumper and is a better defender, but wall is a better PG and is more athletic
2/18/2009 7:03:19 PM
none of this matters. Sid knows (and so do we) that if NCSU doesnt end up in the top half of the ACC next year his @$$ is gone. He plays them both next year if we have them....
2/18/2009 7:04:44 PM
^ that's true
2/18/2009 7:06:21 PM
^^sid won't be fired, he'll have his 5 or 6 years (forgot how long his contract was)
2/18/2009 7:11:03 PM
Brown didnt make the McDs AA game? Oh wait, they had to put most of UNCs class in, that's why.
2/18/2009 7:11:25 PM
If Costner decides to leave, and Cousins doesn't come, isn't there another 1 or 2 bigs still being considered?
2/18/2009 7:12:32 PM
he's more worthy than ryan kelly.when is the mcdonalds AA game anyway?^there are a few back-up plans ATM.]

Walls ranking over Brown has everything to do with flash and nothing to do with baskeball IQ. I didn't say it should be the other way around, Wall can play, but Brown literally does everything....and doesn't give a fuck if anyone sees him doing it. [Edited on February 18, 2009 at 7:14 PM. 2/18/2009 7:13:31 PM
don't get me wrong - I want Sid to stay for 5-6 years.... but I know our fickle fanbase too well at this point to expect he lives through 4 straight years of disappointments...
2/18/2009 7:17:51 PM
but you can't sit there and tell me you'd rather have Brown than Wall. If we can get both than great. We'll turn some heads for certain.. we'd only be missing Gavin Grant predicting 4 losses, but this time around a little bit closer to his prediction.
2/18/2009 7:17:54 PM
if we get wall we may get cousins too, just saying
2/18/2009 7:18:39 PM
The McD's AA is a bunch of junk sometimes. How Larry Drew made it in last year is beyond me (I know it was probably b/c of the name of the school beside his name ).Drew's rankingsScout - #68 overall, #4 PGRivals - #71 overall, #10 PGBrowns' rankingsScout - #33 overall, #8 SGRivals - #43 overall, #7 PG

I'm sitting here telling you that if I had to choose, I'd rather have Brown than Wall. Brown is sticking around for longer, he's a great teammate, he plays great defense, and he gets everyone involved. I'm not saying I don't want Wall. I'm saying when it comes down to it, if we could only have one, I want Brown.

This isn't related to State basketball recruiting, but it does involve one of the top players in the 2009 class.Renardo Sidney to announce on SundayESPNU 100 power forward Renardo Sidney will announce his college decision on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 4 pm PDT/7 pm EDT. Sidney has mentioned UCLA, USC, Virginia, Mississippi State, Connecticut and Texas as possible choices.Sidney must still take and pass the SAT in order to gain NCAA eligibility.

someone on PP said favors called ncsu out after he found out he was a mcdonalds all american. anyone know exactly what he said?
2/19/2009 8:02:47 PM
^he said he was going to decommit from Ga Tech and come to NCSU if we win 3 more games this season
2/19/2009 8:20:03 PM
anything been said in here about Sandi Marcius?
2/19/2009 8:39:00 PM
He'll be a backup plan if we don't land Cousins. It won't matter though b/c we are going to land the big fella from Alabama! Ok well that's wishful thinking and me just being overly optimistic. I truly have no idea where Cousins will end up, but I think we are in very good position with him.

Sandi Marcius. What's the story on this Croation big-man? Memphis, BC, Purdue, ND? Ain't got no stars.[Edited on February 19, 2009 at 11:16 PM. Reason : As if it matters. Cousins will be wearing R&W.]
2/19/2009 11:14:59 PM
I think Cousins is our biggest recruit. If we land him then I think Wall will sign with us too. If Cousins goes elsewhere then we might have a double whiff.......
2/19/2009 11:27:51 PM
^ What makes you think that Wall and Cousins are some sort of "package deal"?
2/20/2009 9:34:37 AM
Just thought everyone on here would like to know this info:I don't know how many of you even thought Duke was a lot of competition for John Wall, but I can almost guarantee you that Duke is out of the running. You don't have to believe me but I have some fairly decent sources on this. And I promise ya'll I would not post this if I didn't think it was true. Wall knows he has a spot if he ends up wanting it at Duke, but K I think has kind of decided not to heavily pursue Wall at this point. He is actually now heavily recruiting a couple of other PG's in the 2009 class b/c Duke desperately needs one more guard for next year. Main name they are recruiting is Eric Bledsoe, number 9 PG in the '09 class. Just wanted to let everyone know. However, if Wall came to coach K and and definitely wanted to come to Duke, Duke would obviously let him but I think their heavy recruitment of Wall is stopping.Just thought everyone would like to know.
2/20/2009 9:45:16 AM
^I don't think Duke has ever been a player....pretty common knowledge at this point. They stuck their nose in and then backed it back out pretty quickly. Wall knows he was their #2 choice. Wall has too much of an ego for that to not bother him
2/20/2009 9:53:46 AM
^yeahthe question is whether State wants a guy with this much baggage. It would be nice, but from what I have read about him and heard about him from even guys like his high school coach, he is volatile and does come with A LOT of "baggage". Not sure he is what we NEED; perhaps what fans want, but not what we NEED at PG. Its not like he really solves our PG troubles anyway b/c he is def. a one and done. Not to mention, if we thought Hickson caused chemistry issues b/c he took away PT from other guys, how much will Wall destroy chemistry? With taking PT from Javi, Farnold, and Julius and with his attitude I really am not sure, as good as he is, if he would actually help State basketball.
2/20/2009 9:59:25 AM
^ no, we want him.
2/20/2009 10:02:47 AM
I think Hickson was more of a special case instead of the norm. There's a lot of "one-and-done" guys that do fine on their team. And the #1 PG will help our team. We def. want him. This "baggage" stuff seems to get excagerrated since he lives in Raleigh and the N&O tells us everything he does every day. We don't get the same coverage on anyone other recruit.
2/20/2009 10:04:35 AM
2/20/2009 10:05:06 AM
^^^maybe so, but I think there are some legitimate questions about his character/attitude and the potential problems he could create in his one year and only one year. I just think that if Roy didn't recruit this kid, because Roy pretty much offers a scholly to everyone in the top 50 and says first come, first serve then you need to at least wonder why. UNC under Roy would not pass up a top 3 player and a guy in his backyard. Especially with Lawson almost assuredly leaving after this year and Drew being their only option at point next year. Just makes me wonder a little some of what might be going on with Wall. Will we win more games with him next year than without him? probably, but how many more and does the risk warrant the reward? That is all I wonder.[Edited on February 20, 2009 at 10:11 AM. Reason : .]

2/20/2009 10:11:05 AM
UNC signed a good PG last year and has one committed for 2010. According to scout, they didn't offer any PG in the 2009 class. .[Edited on February 20, 2009 at 10:19 AM. Reason : .]
2/20/2009 10:13:40 AM
we 100% most definitely without question want wall.
2/20/2009 10:15:28 AM
2/20/2009 10:23:47 AM
the thing about jj is that it seems he did everything he was supposed to do and more. i think everyone remembers reading about how hard he worked to get better while he was here so its not like he came in and "stole" playing time, he earned it. yes his presence might have messed up team chemistry but it's not his fault the coaches thought he was a better option than what we already had. to say we don't want a player due to potential chemistry issues or "baggage" is just silly. the bottom line is that there are always going to be people better and worse than you at things and its your job to work hard to be the best you can.
2/20/2009 10:36:56 AM
It'd be different if we had some talented upper classmen in the backcourt who would be losing significant playing time to Wall. But we don't.
2/20/2009 10:41:14 AM
^ exactly, up until recently its not like our backcourt had any sort of consistent rotation.
2/20/2009 10:44:56 AM
I doubt Syracuse has any regrets about Carmelo Anthony's baggage
2/20/2009 11:38:02 AM
anybody who thinks we don't want wall is fucking stupid. don't read their posts.
2/20/2009 1:16:12 PM
2/20/2009 2:10:37 PM
And its well documented how UNC refused to get involved with the Cliftons, so it had more to do with them than Wall. If you have been reading, they have actually been the biggest thorn in State's side during this whole thing, but we've managed to stay in there and even fix our relationship with the cliftons w/out money. So as BD says, quit worrying what unc "fucking" does. (see what I did there?)
2/20/2009 2:13:53 PM
classless!
2/20/2009 2:31:16 PM
this is one of the reasons UNC never got involved with Wall: http://clemson.scout.com/a.z?s=46&p=8&c=1&nid=2411829He was originally thought to be the best PG prospect in the nation on scout, and is rated the #3 PG by rivals. He's really a combo guard, and will probably play more 2 than 1, but they signed Larry Drew last year, there's a rumor going around that Lawson wants to come back and be the man next year, and they signed a PG for 2010 already.Add that with the Cliftons and there's UNC not getting involved with Wall
2/20/2009 2:52:48 PM
i really can't tell you how annoyed i will be if lawson comes back.
2/20/2009 3:05:38 PM
I can't see Lawson coming back with the way he's been playing lately (although I think it's going to be a pretty deep PG draft class). Especially if they win the whole thing (God I hope not). But if he starts a little slide now or gets exposed in some head-to-head matches in the tourney and they lose again...I guess it's a decent possibility.
