What in the hell are you talking about? As rwoody said, mainstream reporters are also talking about this, and Iowa Dems corrected the numbers as a result. Your candidate was also affected. Stand up for yourself.

Yeah, man. Keep pushing a “historical acquittal” and Trump playing 26-D chess like Earl did. It’s going to win so many votes in a Dem primary.

Jesus. Stick to fucking policy where Bernie wins by a mile.

Kinda ridiculous this isn’t fully tabulated yet but sanders and buttigieg are tied now for delegates.

National polls show sanders stomping trump. Sanders long history as an independent would be a huge benefit in the general.

i wanted trump impeached and removed. after that, i'd love for him to be criminally prosecuted. he is the worst...and i will more likely than not actually vote for him anyway if you dumbasses nominate Sanders.

I give it >50% odds that I will vote Biden over Trump, >50% odds that I will vote Trump over Sanders, and nearly 100% odds that I will just vote for neither if it's Buttigieg. I'd probably abstain for most of the rest, too (I'd say there are at least very remote odds that I'd vote for Klobuchar or Yang over Trump instead of abstaining. There's a pretty considerable chance I'd vote for Trump over Warren, but I'd need to review her policies more if it actually came to that--i'd much rather just not vote for either of them.)

They are starting to expose dozens of precincts that were stolen from Sanders. None of this will matter because Pete is already getting the boost from the media reporting him as the winner even though by their numbers they are tied in national delegates and bernie is up 1000+ votes (see moron's post right below this)

And this one ties it all together explaining what they were doing for 2 days with the missing 69%

I'm also seeing a growing number of people threatening to stop donating if Bernie doesn't call this out publicly.

Buttigiegs small lead will hold. Very close though.

Buttigieg just seems like a more eloquent and slightly more woke Biden. It’s really strange to me you would vote for Biden but hate buttigieg.

AP has them at .1% difference with 4% left.

That's another side effect of the narrowing Republican base: broadening of the Democratic base.

It's becoming unwieldy and isn't sustainable.

I’m calling this Susan Collins syndrome (although I’m open to other suggestions) where a “conservative” seems to recognize the Trump administration is a dumpster fire but completes superhuman mental gymnastics in order to justify giving him more and more executive power.

You want Trump impeached.
You want Trump removed.
You want Trump to be criminally prosecuted.
Trump is the worst.

You said all that. Conclusion: Trump is a criminal and the worst POTUS ever.

But Bernie is worse than that? Worse than the worst POTUS ever who is also a criminal?

What? WTF is that?

What is that Bernie has done/said which makes him worse than, according to you, someone who is a criminal and happens to be worst POTUS ever?

Whoa whoa whoa, I may make fun of voting Green because in America it’s essentially a grift but voting third party doesn’t mean you support Trump at all.

I say Earl supports Trump because he supports him. Constantly capes for him no matter what, downplays the awful stuff and thinks he is some incalculable political genius despite obviously just being an impulsive twit. Notice I don’t say that about any other people on here are justifiably critical of Democrats.

"Sounds like you're only reading Iowa in the context of a general election instead of the Dem primary."

Then I'm the only one paying attention to what really matters here. The ideological squabbles within the Democratic party are small potatoes next to the existential crisis of another Trump term. We've all got our preference for who wins the nomination, which is as it should be; but the outcome of Iowa is worse for everybody than it is good for anybody on the Democratic side.

Quote :
"the news cycle moves so fast I cannot imagine this will matter to a single person in a few months"

I don't think "Remember Iowa!" is going to be the central theme at the Republican convention or anything. I do think that this starts off the entire primary season on a very wrong foot, giving Trump extra momentum and one more cudgel to beat us with, particularly once election interference comes up from any quarter.

You don't get to have it both ways. Is it a "win-win-win" or is it meaningless?

"the conspiracy theories suck, but I also think the constant stream of bullshit is fatiguing a lot of people, they’re returning to more legit sources"

I'm happy about your anecdotes, but they don't provide me much comfort. We're in a fairly obscure corner of the internet here, and we've already got a variety of conspiracies popping up on this site.

Quote :
"Dems sniping at each other during a contested primary is always a given. It’s what the primary is for."

Sniping at each other over policies or past statements is one thing; sniping about the integrity of the caucus (which Biden's team did quite quickly) is another.

Quote :
"Well 1)a caucus takes far more time in a far more specific window then a GE or normal primary. But also 2) I read some analysis that the large field helps to suppress turnout bc there are still undecideds, and undecideds are less likely to vote, but that could be bs not sure."

The low Iowa caucus turnout is a bit concerning; however, I could see two less concerning factors coming into play: 1) a lot of participants from the 2016 caucus found it to be a cumbersome process and, therefore, the lower than expected turnout could be specific to Iowa and shouldn't necessarily be expected for future primaries; 2) Democratic voters are content with voting for any of the current candidates over Trump and, therefore, are less incentivized to caucus for one Democratic candidate over the other.

I don’t do the conspiracy stuff but I’m glad he seemingly outperformed. And I’m glad, mercifully, caucuses are dead and gone.

Grumpy is as much a Democrat as anyone at this point. Unlike Duke that constantly gives 1000 caveats, grumpy has stated repeatedly that he will be voting for any democratic candidate this year.

But you obviously want to communicate, since you've responded to him multiple times.

I mean it was less about defending Grumpy, he can defend himself (although I do think is "one of the good ones" and has also expressed a seemingly genuine change but whatever), and more about the "people who disagree with me are all idiots" attitude. lol, isn’t Greenwald from Florida? Memory holed 2000 I guess.

He has done some excellent work and I think he is doing an amazing job exposing corruption in Brazil but I don’t think there is a single influential person on the left who has lost the plot more in America. It’s just outright bizarre. Not even a tweet I can find about the whistleblower stuff and that is like his thing.

^ I’d be glad to have their vote come November but no one should take seriously their opinion on what the left or Democrats should do.

Sanders drastically out raised the others

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/06/us/politics/bernie-sanders-donations.html?emc=rss&partner=rss

I was really believing they were just being cautious with the vote counting but now I’m convinced they’re doing everything they can to not have to label sanders as the front runner now.

Being tied with Pete, maybe ahead, combined with raising the most money, he’s clearly in the lead now for the nomination.

Strategically speaking, there's no long-term benefit for Democrats to cater to the desires of Never Trump Republicans. Even if Never Trump Republicans help to elect a moderate Democrat over Trump in 2020, they'll likely just switch their vote back to the next Republican candidate in 2024.

To rjrs question about trying to court, it all depends on what you mean by that. If you mean candidates should try to explain how their policies would benefit you, I def think this is worthwhile. If you mean they should form their policies based on what you want, I def don't think they should. Part of that is that many asking to courted are like Duke that say "I'll vote for any dem, as long as they are republican" and part is that candidates risk losing the base if they move right.

But, grumpy doesn't fit that box if he's being honest bc he's even said he would vote Bernie (I think?) (and maybe he votes all republican at local/state levels, who knowsI still don't think the party should court him anymore then they should court Biden fans, but that's more my personal political view. But I don't think anything is gained by telling him to go fuck himself or whatever.
