I can't blame Norman, he knows he has 1 shot at a big deal to set him up for life. No way we pay him that much, honestly, the only team that would pay him $16million/yr is maybe Jax? They're the only team with the cap space to literally burn. I would love to have Norman for 4-5 years, but no way does he deserve $2 million more per year than any other CB in the league. He's probably throwing a large number out there, he'll realistically be the #1 paid CB, but I imagine it'll be closer to 14.5-15 than 16. Maybe he'll have a slightly down year and we can lock him up closer to 14 million for a few years.
3/29/2016 9:42:41 AM
Seems pretty clear that franchising him twice then letting him walk is the right move
3/29/2016 11:32:14 AM
^ That's my bet on what will happen. I just can't see Gettleman giving him the kind of money and term he's looking for.
3/29/2016 3:14:59 PM
You do a long term deal for security... he might not still be a top cornerback in a few years or he could get injured and not be able to play at all... or at least at the same level... The only reason we'd want to sign him to a long term deal is to save money. But right now we save money by having him play on the tag so that's an easy decision. His asking price really can't go any higher... he's probably not gonna even reproduce the same season and he's highly unlikely to outperform last season... even if he did it wouldn't be by a significant margin. So a long term deal has tons of potential downside and very, very little upside available.
3/30/2016 6:30:35 AM
He's on lebetard nowGuess I missed most of it. But he said he never said anything about $16M. Maybe he can be locked up cheaper? [Edited on March 30, 2016 at 11:51 AM. Reason : ~]
3/30/2016 11:38:02 AM
Think the "$16 million/yr" thing was more speculation because he said he wanted to be the highest paid CB in the NFL. I think he's realistically looking at landing a $14-15 million/year deal from someone, just don't believe it'll be the Panthers.
3/30/2016 12:28:32 PM
Yeah I mean, as good of a year as Norman had, it doesn't make any sense to commit that much money to a guy who's not a centerpiece of the defense. This team is built from the front seven back and we've had plenty of average DBs have above average years in that system. Norman is just the latest and not the last DB to get paid thanks to Luke, TD, CJ, KK, and Star.
3/30/2016 1:06:29 PM
I agree with all the above re: Norman. Not to mention that we're a zone team. It's not like he's out there erasing a #1 threat. He's just doing his job that he's asked to do really well inside of the scheme. Top man corners might get that type of money like prime Revis, but zone guys aren't that irreplaceable in the grand scheme of things.
3/30/2016 2:02:44 PM
He's obviously not as important as Luke, but I mean we would've given up a shitload more passing yards and passing TDs last year without him. He's not worth $15MM/year but he's not some plug and play guy that we can easily replace, either. We need him for the next 2 years if we wanna win it all.]
3/30/2016 2:15:43 PM
#2 in power rankings after everything has shaped out!
3/31/2016 1:48:46 AM
Moving denver to 7 is silly. Trevathan is good but easily replaceable in the draft. Malik jackson is pretty awesome but he wasn't a starter it's not like their front line stinks now... I'd put denver 2nd or 3rd. I do agree with pats #1 they had a lot of injuries last year
3/31/2016 2:07:10 AM
I think it was less that Denver really regressed, but I think it was more that other teams either improved or got healthy. Pats improved. Panthers got healthy and improved. Packers got healthy(adding Jordy back is huge). Arizona got healthy and improved.Seattle got healthy. Improved is debatable but that OL couldn't get worse really.I think Denver's D will still be really good, but Ware is only getting older and they still lost a few games last year on poor offensive play. Their starting QB is Mark Sanchez right now and they lost Hillman so their only RB is CJ Anderson who didn't look impressive at all last season. The defense will take a slight step back given losses and aging, but that offense looks even more suspect than last year. The nice thing about Peyton down the stretch was that he did JUST enough to get first downs and focused more on not turning the ball over. Do you really trust Sanchez to not turn the ball over in critical situations? Until we see who their actual day 1 starter will be, think 5-8 range is appropriate.
3/31/2016 8:32:21 AM
3/31/2016 9:40:17 AM
^ Perhaps that is true, but that doesn't mean you pay him top dollar to be a guy in the right scheme. If you can franchise him and play him at that price without the concern after one breakout season, then you re-evaluate if he repeats that performance again. I think leaving him on the franchise this year is the right move. This one year deal appears to be less than he is looking for long term
3/31/2016 10:49:53 AM
Does Denver still not have a QB?Why the fuck didnt they franchise Osweiler?
3/31/2016 11:13:07 AM
They had Osweiler there long enough to know he wasn't worth the money and wasn't the future at the QB position. Plus they were kind of in cap hell, no way they could afford a franchise tag on Brock, QB franchise tag can't be cheap. They'll either trade for Kaep or draft a QB to compete with Sanchez.
3/31/2016 1:27:53 PM
I think they should trade for glennon.I'd put denver #2 he can't be worse than peyton. And hillman sucked they can draft a rb
3/31/2016 9:01:18 PM
Welcome back Kyle Love. Think we're pretty set at DT for this year, still wouldn't be surprised to see us draft one.
4/4/2016 10:40:33 AM
4/4/2016 10:49:59 AM
Glennon is about to be a free agent after this season. It doesn't look like many teams will be in the market for a starting qb next year due to the number of entrenched starters but if there are 3-4 teams looking he will definitely be a consideration. Even as a backup he will command 5-6m/yr so I'm guessing someone might even offer 7-10 to give him a shot at starting. Hell, after bradford and osweiler got 18m i wouldn't be SHOCKED if he got that type of interest...
4/4/2016 11:27:10 AM
Hell, the Bucs have talked about offering him $6mil/yr to stay as the backup to Jameis. He'll get much more than that when he signs his next contract. But TB isn't just going to trade him away for pennies on the dollar. If no one offers them an early round pick, he'll play out this year as Winston's backup and they'll get a compensatory pick when he walks.BUT ANYWAYS, Glennon will never play for the panthers and probably won't play in the division again.
4/4/2016 12:12:55 PM
A 3rd round pick isn't pennies. I'd do that in a second if i was tampa bay. A 2nd or 3rd rd pick is extremely valuable you get a ridiculously cheap starter for 3 years for that.
4/5/2016 4:52:01 AM
Watching hardy i think a good bit of that interview was sincere. I don't belive he didn't put his hands on her at all but having met nikki and knowing how wild she is.. and from personal experiences with drunk crazy girls i think it's a little unfair that everyone is saying he's definitely a liar. ... none of us were there. And also I think girls get a really unfair "never put your hands on a woman" backing when they are punching, kicking, screaming, refusing to leave, etc.... it gets a lot more confusing when crazy girls are involved. That being said terrible idea to do this interview. No media is going to risk taking your side and the narrative is going to be that you lack contrition. [Edited on April 5, 2016 at 2:48 PM. 4/5/2016 2:40:26 PM
^a judge, after a lengthy trial, and hearing his self defense argument, found him guilty. IDK what interview your referring to, but being an attorney, that's the sum and substance of his culpability. I agree that we will never know the full story, but given the price/quality of his defense team, Im satisfied that he is culpable.
4/5/2016 2:45:44 PM
I mean the bottom line is when you're having threesomes and drug fueled parties and such with a girl whosever off the chain like thwt youre putting yourself in a bad spotBy the letter of the law he's probably guilty but I think the way the law is set up it just absolves her of her role in the situation which was obviously paramount. Most guys don't go looking to hurt women, when women act psychotic sometimes the dudes snap. Sounds like what happened here. Some of her bruises might be self inflicted who knows. Bottom line he paid her enough not to testify so to me thats all the contrition he needs to show. A real crime is doing something you cant afford to buy yourself out ofAthletes get a bad deal though. They go to a strip club and something happens itand their career at stake and their reputation. They go to their own house and a women acts nuts it's on them. They buy a hooker to avoid this crap it's their ass if get caught. They're just targets. [Edited on April 5, 2016 at 2:59 PM. Reason : A]

Gregs a good guy overall. I feel bad for these guys how everyone just wants to take take take. The constant crap they take from jealous people, opposing fans, etc.. The guys a football player man let him play. It's annoying how the nfl let's a few liberals chase guys out of the league. The guy appears to suffer from bipolar disorder and it's hard for someone living a Rockstar life to always walk the straight and narrow.I feel like if he said he put his hands on her they wouldn't let him back in the league. If he says he didn't theyes say he's a liar. Just a no win situation [Edited on April 5, 2016 at 3:16 PM. Reason : A]
4/5/2016 3:13:14 PM
I don't think it helps that a lot of the Cowboys players eluded to him being cancerous to the lockeroom last year. He has a ton of talent, but I just can't imagine a team taking a chance on a guy like this given his baggage.
4/5/2016 3:34:09 PM
I'd be ecstatic if the panthers got him on like a 1 year, $3 million deal.I mean if the Broncos get Kaepernick weve got Denver, New England, and Pittsburgh with all very strong teams in the AFC. Seattle and Arizona are pretty loaded in the NFC.It's not gonna be a cakewalk to go through 2-3 really, really strong teams and other teams could even emerge who knows. We need a pass rushing end so bad it's not even funny. He knows the scheme, the fans would embrace him because I'm sure most of us still like him. Maybe the state legislature would make a deal with the libtards. We'll let trannies shake their weenies anywhere they want in Ericcson Stadium (sic) if we can sign Greg Hardy.Call the proposal "No sweat off our Sacks"[Edited on April 5, 2016 at 3:50 PM. no way in hell
4/5/2016 3:57:25 PM
as someone who has a 100% track record of what we do with defensive ends this offseason, let me say that no fucking way Hardy is ever a Panther again.
4/5/2016 4:06:16 PM
they'll re-sign greg hardy after they get rae carruth.
4/5/2016 4:12:39 PM
4/5/2016 4:15:04 PM
Of course we aren't going to sign him and that sucks. We've got an opportunity to sign a top notch DE for a fraction of his cost to gain a competitive advantage. It's just disgusting we don't have the balls to do it. We're on the cusp of a super bowl for God's sake. getting a consistent pass rush from your front four can completely swing an otherwise uneven matchup
4/5/2016 4:41:32 PM
4/5/2016 4:43:31 PM
Nah he does a lot of good things for people. That girl is out there man. Things happen when emotions flare. She's filed other suits like this. You get her all drunk and coked up some women are nuts. I've seen her tits tho and damn they nice

4/5/2016 5:28:46 PM
Lol what's the back story of that pic?
4/6/2016 7:36:05 AM
Hardy was a cancer in the locker room for Dallas. Our players didn't really jump to defend him when he was sitting on the sideline for our team, so I really don't think our locker room wants anything to do with him.Team chemistry is really strong with this team, and esp. on our defense. No way you jeopardize that just to get a talented player. That's the kinda shit you see the Browns, Redskins, Raiders do in the past, it's not what winning teams do.We'll find a DE in the draft and wouldn't surprise me if we added another veteran like we did last year with Jared Allen.
4/6/2016 8:49:58 AM
I'd love to see him just be contrite and slide on in there a pass rushing monster at a position of need.I want that super bowl and I hate to see a young man career ruined over off the field issues.I also think it's wrong to treat this as a "domestic violence" issue. To me thats guys coming home and beating up wives and girlfriends who can't leave... not a party girl coming over whose flipping out and refusing to leave his house . It's a different issue than beating up someone you live with. You hear her talking about all the coverage she got and thinking about changing her name... well she kinda put herself in that position too. Everyone should just move on and we should resume focus on super bowl aspirations. You never know how short our window could be[Edited on April 6, 2016 at 11:10 AM. Reason : A]

Olsen didn't have anything nice to say about him on the Mac Attack this AM
4/6/2016 3:18:25 PM
3rd and 12, gronkowski springs open across the middle, brady steps up to deliver BAM!!!!THE KRAKEN HITS BRADY AND KNOCKS HIM DOWN HARDER THAN NICKI HOLDER ON A BUNCH OF ASSAULT RIFLES BALL COMES LOOSE Crowd goes wild crowd goes wild! Panthers have won the super bowl!! The no sweat off our sacks campaign has paid off!!!!
4/6/2016 3:43:13 PM
But then the Patriots other tight end, newly re-signed Aaron Hernandez, recovers the fumble and takes it in for a Patriots' touchdown!
4/6/2016 3:48:23 PM
Aaron Hernandez would murder anyone the Panthers used to cover him.
4/6/2016 3:54:21 PM
I just know if we won the super bowl and Greg hardy was arranging to murder pussy like Rae Carruth at the afterparty we would all forget about a few misgivings
4/6/2016 6:24:12 PM
What if we signed Greg Hardy, and then went 7-9 though[Edited on April 6, 2016 at 6:29 PM. Reason : and after one of the losses he sucker punched Luke and broke his jaw]
4/6/2016 6:29:27 PM
i thought we were talking about signing hardy, not steve smith.
4/6/2016 6:34:50 PM
I think we're giving Hardy a bit too much credit. He was average for Dallas last year, and their locker room veterans even said the guy was a bad influence and a cancer in the locker room. Why do we want more issues in the media/PR? Didn't we get enough with Cam and his antics last year?Is everyone convinced all that time off from football hasn't slowed Hardy down? Why would we mess up our team chemistry after 2 top 10 defensive years? We were 15-1 and made the SB last year with no pass-rush. Hardy just isn't worth the risk. Some upside but the downside is pretty obvious. We'll take a DE/edge rusher in this draft and sign a veteran after cuts. We don't pick-up troubled players, it's just not going to happen.
4/7/2016 9:19:53 AM
I do care about having good guys on our team. I don't mind the showboating or bragging when the team is winning, but I do mind if our players become violent off the field.
4/7/2016 2:47:30 PM
Be so sweet if we could just all forget about a minor off the field incident that and just sliiiiiide him on in there at defensive end. That way when the opposing quarterback says "hut hut hike" he could try to grab him and toss his little fanny in the dirt.
