04-05 is so awesome. Those smug fuckes thought they were teflon.
3/4/2015 7:28:35 PM
Can't wait to see what happens to UNC if they were that harsh to Cuse.
3/6/2015 12:42:13 PM
Syracuse just got murdered. This is the best paragraph to take away from the NCAA ruling:
3/6/2015 12:55:04 PM
By the way they were punished under the more lenient rules based on when the investigation started. Think about that... UNC should just pack it up and go home.** once again though the ncaa didn't have balls to take away a title so I still doubt we will see them do that to UNC. Said it found violations back to 2001 but only vacated wins starting in 2003-2004 (suspiciously the year after Carmelo)[Edited on March 6, 2015 at 1:04 PM. Reason : X]
3/6/2015 1:02:33 PM
I'm still firmly in the "they're not gonna do shit to UNC" camp
3/6/2015 1:04:38 PM
3/6/2015 1:05:44 PM
3/6/2015 1:15:40 PM
the 2001 violations weren't severe enough to warrant a banner coming down and also they self reported violations that year iirc
3/6/2015 1:28:04 PM
3/6/2015 1:40:30 PM
^^ ineligible players are ineligible players - there are no degrees of it (unless you're Corey Magettee and Duke). My guess is they didn't want to even go there in 2003. Would open up a can of worms.[Edited on March 6, 2015 at 3:07 PM. Reason : Just noticed that their final four year also wasn't opted ]
3/6/2015 3:01:31 PM
Yep. I have no faith that the NCAA will force UNC to vacate any meaningful wins.
3/6/2015 3:06:04 PM
Maybe the 01-03 infractions involved something like not following the drug testing policy (Not testing frequently enough or something) vs a particular player being ineligible due to benefits or academics.
3/6/2015 4:50:06 PM
^ Yeah...I've been looking for someone to break down the details by year. I find it highly unlikely that the NCAA would open itself up to the backlash of not taking away championships when the transgressions were the same for each year.
3/6/2015 4:58:56 PM
^,^^Jay Bilas asks the same thing.http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:12432701[Edited on March 6, 2015 at 5:49 PM. Reason : ]

I'm just curious if Boeheim or another organization/coach in a similar situation will completely, and publicly, flip their shit when the NCAA does nothing more than give UNC a halfhearted finger-wagging.

"it all comes down on the coach""you're the CEO it's your responsibility"haven't heard anything like that about the cheaters in chapel hill
3/7/2015 12:55:44 PM
Carolina would come out very easily IMO if all they do is lose Roy. Hell, some of those idiots want to fire Roy because they are finally playing teams you judge them by now, haha. The reason Roy is on the chopping block is it was active his entire time at UNC and he is the one to sacrifice from the UNC camp. Like I said though, a lot of people would say that alone is not enough to reform the scale of what was scene from UNC.[Edited on March 7, 2015 at 6:28 PM. Reason : _]
3/7/2015 6:27:12 PM
I hear ya...if it comes down to it, they'll pin it all on Roy if they can.The man is understandably losing it, and they'll have no problems fucking over one of their own to salvage what's left of their reputation. But there ain't much of that left in my opinion.I mean, I don't want to revisit this, but State cut ties with Valvano pretty quickly when he didn't even commit a violation.
3/7/2015 7:21:44 PM
Carolina will probably offer to vacate the Doherty years to placate the NCAA.
3/7/2015 7:26:49 PM
3/9/2015 2:08:51 PM
They'd happily sacrifice Roy to preserve the myth of St. Dean
3/9/2015 2:18:32 PM
They'd rather bring down the NCAA than sacrifice Roy
3/9/2015 2:27:47 PM
I mean there are really only 2 outcomes here. Either UNC gets the worst punishment in NCAA history, or the NCAA loses any credibility it has left and this is the final straw that brings the whole thing down.
3/9/2015 3:23:40 PM
probably the latter I'm afraid
3/9/2015 4:17:03 PM
3/9/2015 5:09:56 PM
I just don't see it. It'll be same old same old, shameful headlines but no real comeuppance. Seriously, this is exactly like the outcry to every unarmed dude that is gun downed by the police: Everybody convinces themselves that the hammer will finally come down, but at the end of the day it is the same old "I had to use deadly force" line.
3/9/2015 7:10:54 PM
1. Let's not compare this to a race of young men being shot dead by the police.2. Let's not give up hope entirely. I'm kinda lazy, but the only reason we've gotten this far is due to random oppositional pressure...straight up strangers on the Internet being like, "Wait a minute...that ain't right...here's what's wrong with that..."We can keep pushing. They're already suffering. And, if you like shit-talking, which I don't, you got ammo for days. (I'd enjoy the whole shit-talking thing except any remarks sent my way make me wanna get violent. )
3/9/2015 7:21:08 PM

that article read like the wordiest humble brag blog post ever.
3/16/2015 11:19:29 AM
The NCAA should release it's ruling on Easter Sunday. Not sure how that fanbase would handle the punishment and finding out that Dean didn't rise from his tomb.
3/16/2015 11:23:38 AM
go to 7:08

That's good and all, but it really annoys me when talking heads throw in anti-American sentiment on a topic that the majority of Americans already think is BS.

The comments of the article are hilarious. UNC fans saying what Syracuse got punished for was far worse than what UNC has done.
