that was as thorough of a pwnting as I've ever seen on these here message boards. Well done Ernie, well done.

That was Rash, Ernie.

The whole sugar bowl matchup is all about money. Michigan State should have made it over UM and about 5 teams should have been picked before VT. But they sell tickets, and that's all the BCS is about.
12/6/2011 10:04:36 AM
I think there's also the consideration that this might be Beamer's last chance in a BCS bowl.Which will, of course, cause them to sell more tickets. So yeah, still about money but at least they can claim something a little more in VT's case (but not much)
12/6/2011 10:07:04 AM
^How do you figure? They will be Coastal favorites again next year. I doubt he retires within the next 3 or 4 years.
12/6/2011 10:08:32 AM
Since this is the first time that the ACC has had two teams in the BCS I don't think they want to count on the Coastal Division winner being BCS eligible in the future. They're jumping now when they've got the opportunity.Could be for nothing, VT could easily win the ACC next year anyway but to a VT fan who's been following Beamer for 20 years I could see wanting to watch him coach in a BCS bowl while you're still guaranteed the chance.Plus, it's the only non-money reason I can think of.
12/6/2011 10:18:17 AM
Yeah, I know there probably won't be 2 ACC BCS teams in the future, was saying with them probably winning the Coastal next year, they'll have a 50/50 chance at another BCS game. Carry on.

Except for THIS year, in this very thread, I have stated that: there should be a rule that you have to win your conference to be in the NC game AND that while I feel LSU and Bama are the best teams, that doesn't mean they should necessarily play each other again. So I see no pwnt. But Im glad ernie once again took a lot of time up with his weird obsession with me.

Ive never gone back 4 years to scour through posts that someone else made. But I do post a lot.

Thats because you're lazy. All great investigative reporters comb thru the archives on a regular basis.[Edited on December 6, 2011 at 10:56 AM. Reason : NOT SAYING ERNIE'S GREAT]

I wasn't looking for jaybee posts... I was reminded of that game and the surrounding hullabaloo, so I searched for the thread. Lo and behold, only jaybee was contradicting the ever-living fuck out of himself. Figured that was worth sharing. Sorry I interrupted Second Breakfast.
12/6/2011 10:56:55 AM
Except I didn't.
12/6/2011 11:00:03 AM
and then you went on to argue against someone other than bama/lsu being in the title gamewell played jibbles
12/6/2011 11:21:11 AM
No, I argued for who I thought were the best two teams. Not who I felt should be in the NC game. I still feel Ok State should be in it, but, I also feel that Bama would beat the fuck it of them head to head. As the post above stated, those aren't mutually exclusive. Got to go!

12/6/2011 12:19:09 PM
Trust me, way more people hate Ernie than you. Where you err is by contradicting yourself.
12/6/2011 12:55:21 PM
except I didnt.2007 - I said there shouldn't be a rematch, but in my opinion, the teams involved in the potential rematch were not the two best teams anyways2011 - I said there shouldn't be a rematch, but in my opinion, the teams involved in the potential rematch were the two best, but, as in 2007, I think there shouldn't be rematch

So apparently Big East is adding UCF, Houston, SMU, and (WTF) Boise St and San Diego St.
12/6/2011 1:43:06 PM
^^ I'm still trying to figure out how I hurt Ernie's feelings by agreeing that Jaybee is an SEC homer and saying he'd done a good pwn./Sorry about the baby talk, it happens when you spend your days taking care of two babies.
12/6/2011 1:48:13 PM
Really with the "feelings hurt" talk? I'd hoped we'd evolved
12/6/2011 1:51:51 PM
I don't think Ernie was being 100% serious.
12/6/2011 1:51:56 PM
I don't get why people care what a conference footprint looks like. It's not like teams travel everywhere by train. Hawaii had to travel to fucking Louisiana Tech in the WAC.
12/6/2011 1:55:53 PM
not sure where else this goes... Big 12 ADs support a plus-one 4 team playoff. Apparently in 2008 it was also proposed, and only the ACC supported it.http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/andy_staples/12/06/plus-one-playoff/index.html?sct=hp_t2_a3&eref=sihp
12/6/2011 2:47:29 PM
A four team playoff wouldn't silence anybody. People would just bitch about the possibility of it being 50% SEC and having two teams that didn't win their conferences.Although I'm sure some would have tried to jump Oregon over Stanford if being #4 mattered.Someone had posted a picture of a 16 team bracket with all the conference winners and 5 at-large teams. That wouldn't end the controversy, but it did look intriguing and wouldn't be that hard to pull off. They'd either have to extend the bowl season until around the middle of January or have the first two rounds happen right after the conference championships (or after the Army/Navy game, although asking them to move that back into the normal season could happen) but it'd be doable.I've been a pretty big pro-BCS guy, but the last few years it's kinda gotten old. It served it's purpose of getting us out of thinking in terms of the old traditional bowl system and now it's time to move forward with something better.[Edited on December 6, 2011 at 2:56 PM. 12/6/2011 2:55:38 PM
the first playoff is going to be a four team playoff. Might as well start there, but I think everyone agrees it should be larger. Hell, 58% of the teams in FBS are playing in bowls this year.

12/6/2011 3:28:20 PM
^Whatever, Jaybee.
12/6/2011 3:29:21 PM
hey, it would take at least 6 of me to be jaybee.
12/6/2011 3:34:47 PM
8 team playoff. If you win your conference and are top 12 or 16 you get in.The rest of the slots are filled with the top teams left. That should take care of any controversy on who did or didn't get in and give us some fun football.[Edited on December 6, 2011 at 5:43 PM. Reason : .]
12/6/2011 5:41:36 PM
can we agree as a group to move on from sharing our ideas about how to create the perfect playoff?
12/6/2011 6:15:50 PM
i agree, lets talk about the other huge issue in the gap between the regular season and the bowl games. Which is to say, .
12/6/2011 6:28:49 PM
i'm just saying i've been reading the same halfbaked ideas for years.let's fucking talk about how amazing these two teams are. they are incredible.
