3/25/2012 8:32:04 PM
Would have been locks for the final 4 with 1 or 2 fewer forced shots against a 7 footer.
3/25/2012 8:59:52 PM
3/25/2012 11:06:16 PM
I'm not sure why so many assumptions are made about me. I am but one man.I be all I can be.
3/25/2012 11:15:29 PM
Maybe because you've posted about gambling and drug use on these boards for years?
3/25/2012 11:25:49 PM
3/25/2012 11:27:49 PM
You were a fucking cheerleader, don't talk to me about who had problems 10 years ago
3/25/2012 11:28:29 PM
leslie playing only 24 min = Loss. if he plays 34 mins we win. i thought which ever team got in to foul trouble would lose. to bad it was us. and basically you could mauled anybody that was 3 feet from the basket. a lot of body to body contact on both ends. -1 for drawing up plays that don't get executed-1 for the time out with scott wood dribbling up the court with 3 secs left. +3 for a sweet 16+1 for really positive media exposure (haven't had that in awhile)
3/25/2012 11:31:49 PM
^ Leslie didn't foul out. Gottfried benched Leslie and it turned out to be a BIG mistake. He made that same mistake all year and it burned us several times
3/26/2012 12:02:41 AM
every coach in america makes that "mistake"
3/26/2012 12:14:01 AM
yeah.. and they're all idiots. CJL didn't foul out. he wasted time he could have been playing. the only way to make sure you don't waste that time is to keep playing him. pretty fucking simple.
3/26/2012 12:22:19 AM
so is face going to be un-unsuspended now?
3/26/2012 12:35:52 AM
bill self didnt take out that giant white turd when he got his 4th todayhe had two big blocks right after that lead to kansas blowing the game open
3/26/2012 12:53:38 AM
3/26/2012 1:01:03 AM
then we could bench him.Should never bench your best players for guys who aren't your best.calipari's dumbass sat Anthony Davis against Indiana for the ENTIRE first half after he picked up his 2nd foul.Davis ended the game with two fouls... great strategy!
3/26/2012 1:12:40 AM
fire coach cal, hire facechampionships for years
3/26/2012 1:25:27 AM
Yeah, you never need your best players on the court in the final minutes of the game, that time isn't critical at all...
3/26/2012 1:30:26 AM
^ the final minutes are less critical than other minutes. That's obvious to even casual observers.I know you're being sarcastic, but you shouldn't be when you're wrong.
3/26/2012 1:40:39 AM
You can do better than that. I wanna see at least 5 paragraphs of bullshit.
3/26/2012 2:08:37 AM
your comment was pretty out there, so it only took one sentence to discredit it.Anyway, we ended the season as one of the top 35-40 teams and that is an achievement. Next year I want to be a legit top 25 team with a chance to win it all. That is the bar we set this season. We can do it.
3/26/2012 2:13:06 AM
agree

Here we are now entertain us.To Sports TalkSpeaking from the tongue of an experienced simpleton who obviously would rather be an emasculated, infantile complain-ee. This note should be pretty easy to understand. All the warnings from the message board posters over the years, since my first introduction to the, shall we say, ethics involved with independence and the embracement of your community has proven to be very true. I haven't felt the excitement of message boards or reading and writing for too many years now. I feel guilty beyond words about these things. For example when I'm posting and the manic roar of the crowds begins., it doesn't affect me the way in which it did for Freddie Mercury, who seemed to love, relish in the the love and adoration from the crowd which is something I totally admire and envy. The fact is, I can't fool you, any one of you. It simply isn't fair to you or me. The worst crime I can think of would be to rip people off by faking it and pretending as if I'm having 100% fun. Sometimes I feel as if I should have a punch-in time clock before I type a post. I've tried everything within my power to appreciate it (and I do,God, believe me I do, but it's not enough). I appreciate the fact that I and we have affected and entertained a lot of people. It must be one of those narcissists who only appreciate things when they're gone. I'm too sensitive. I need to be slightly numb in order to regain the enthusiasms I once had as a child. On my last 3 or so posts, I've had a much better appreciation for all the people I've known personally, and as fans of my posts, but I still can't get over the frustration, the guilt and empathy I have for everyone. There's good in all of us and I think I simply love people too much, so much that it makes me feel too fucking sad. The sad little, sensitive, unappreciative, Pisces, Jesus man. Why don't you just enjoy it? I don't know!I have a goddess of a wife who sweats ambition and empathy and a daughter who reminds me too much of what i used to be, full of love and joy, kissing every person she meets because everyone is good and will do her no harm. And that terrifies me to the point to where I can barely function. I can't stand the thought of Frances becoming the miserable, self-destructive, death poster that I've become.I have it good, very good, and I'm grateful, but since the age of seven, I've become hateful towards all humans in general. Only because it seems so easy for people to get along that have empathy. Only because I love and feel sorry for people too much I guess.Thank you all from the pit of my burning, nauseous stomach for your letters and concern during the past years. I'm too much of an erratic, moody baby! I don't have the passion anymore, and so remember, it's better to burn out than to fade away.Peace, love, empathy.FaceFrances and Courtney, I'll be at your alter. Please keep going Courtney, for Frances. For her life, which will be so much happier without me.I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU![Edited on March 26, 2012 at 2:28 AM. Can we suspend this guy again? Every time I see that he has posted in a thread I just close the browser because I know it will be an entire page of him tolling people and people arguing with him. And then ^that abortion of a post.
3/26/2012 8:17:05 AM
^^is that a suicide note? DON'T DO IT BRUH
3/26/2012 8:21:24 AM
I agree with face on the player in foul trouble strategy to an extent. If a guy gets 3 in the 1st half, I think you've got to sit him until the 2nd half, but in a situation where it's a close game and a key player has 4 in the 2nd half, I say you stick with your best players and keep your fingers crossed. Pitino did that on Saturday with his PG Siva. He had 4 fouls with 10 min or so to go and then fouled out with 4 min to go, but by that point Louisville had managed to stay in the game and had made it close. They managed to pull out the victory even with him on the bench. Had Pitino sat Siva, UF may have just pulled away for good at the ~10 min mark.
3/26/2012 8:58:15 AM
^Or they could have kept it close with him out and he could have come in and won the game...
3/26/2012 9:06:43 AM
or he could have sat him, they get further behind, then he puts him back in for the last few minutes and he doesn't foul out and they lose.the only reason you should sit after a foul (the 4th let's say) is so you're as rested and efficient as possible for the minutes you have. because you don't know when or if you're going to pick up another one.
3/26/2012 9:34:04 AM
Yes. I believe that was my point. There is no way to know what is going to happen. There is multiple ways to approach. If he picks up his 5th real quick then people will say he should have been sitting. There is no right answer.
3/26/2012 9:36:57 AM
So did he just rage quit or what? Someone give me the synopsis, I stopped reading at face.
3/26/2012 9:38:02 AM
that was Kurt Cobain.. I dunno what he meant by it, but he might be shotgun faced by now
3/26/2012 9:43:55 AM
come'on face
3/26/2012 9:51:03 AM
face is trying to teach us all the important lesson that drunk posting isn't always the best course of action.]
3/26/2012 10:28:16 AM
3/26/2012 10:29:54 AM
yes, as long as it's close at the endif the other team extends their lead to double-digits while your best players are sitting with 4 fouls, then it's too late and you're screwed.
3/26/2012 10:35:03 AM
Gee, was it that long ago when Calvin fouled out with 8 minutes left in the ACC semifinals against Carolina?I guess Gottfried had it right when he left him in after he got his fourth at the nine minute mark. It was good to know that he was able to get almost a solid minute of him before he was benched for the rest of the game.
3/26/2012 11:03:27 AM
i'm pretty sure some of the same people who criticize gott for benching players with 4 fouls are the same ones who criticized him for not realizing leslie had 4 fouls when he fouled out against unc.
3/26/2012 11:07:38 AM
it really didn't matter if he knew he had 4 fouls or not against UNC. wasn't a dead ball situation so he couldn't get him out anyway. foul 5 came 32 seconds later.
3/26/2012 11:14:35 AM
^it was a foul. it had to be a dead ball situation.
3/26/2012 11:16:57 AM
He had to already have someone at the bench in order for the ref to automatically whistle a play stoppage. You can try to get the ref's attention to have them stop and allow a substitution but A: the refs were already not interested in anything Gott was saying and B: the inbounds happened quickly so whoever was keeping track of the fouls probably didn't have time to react. It just wasn't a good situation. Someone should have been quicker to realize that it was foul four but its hard to realize that when you're trying to argue that it wasn't a foul at all. [Edited on March 26, 2012 at 12:00 PM. 3/26/2012 11:57:53 AM
Either way, the fact that he stayed in the game is exactly what face and other folks would have called for. Leave your best players in the game, even if they have 4 fouls. No point in letting him sit on the bench. The ACC semifinal is a first-rate reason as to why you should bench your guy for a while. We clawed our way back without him and made it a close game. But it would have been nice to have him in crunch time, still able to contribute.
