haha yeah. Plus this only uses people who use dating websites. I don't think these people typically have a lot of sexual partners.

looks like custom roms may be in the near future for the Droid X.

"Using a hack discovered by the folks who've done all the work on the Milestone, birdman has booted a custom recovery on his handset. The process is labor-intensive and dangerous if you're not prepared to recover from a bricked device (and technically this bricks the device since you can't reboot into Android at this moment), but it's a sucessful proof of concept.

Right now he's working on getting ADB up so we can further investigate what it will take to get a fully functional recovery working (that will also allow reboot back into Android).

From there the focus will move to a more robust recovery and discovery if/how we can do Nandroids and/or write a new /System image (like Froyo). Watch @alldroid and this post for updates."

the chart is not how much sex, it's how many partners, so it IS just a measure of promiscuity. you do realize this right?

I can't get Swype to function on Evo w/froyo so I've been using a modified version of HTC's keyboard and can type pretty damn fast on it.

I do love Swype, but I'm not missing it as much as I thought I would when I first got my Evo.

That's exactly what I said. I said, "haha yeah" agreeing with you. Then I added the fact that it's from a dating website so it's just how ever many people the users list they've slept with. So yeah it's a measure of promiscuity.

Droid 2 hands-on. Looks a little sluggish in the app drawer and menus. Probably due to the lwp running.

for any Evo/Android users who are having issues with their battery life, check this link out.

http://www.goodandevo.net/2010/05/20-tips-to-improve-htc-evo-4g-battery-life.html

I tried out a number of those suggestions, and now when my phone is in standby the battery life graph in juiceplotter is a truly flat line. Of course it still sucks down power like a champ when you're using the phone, but at least you won't waste any while on standby.

Seems like apps running in the background and connecting to the network play a large role (at least that's what it looked like to me). I set my advanced task killer to do an automatic task kill (crazy setting) whenever the display goes off. That was just one thing I did out of 10 others, but I think it helped.

my phone survived, but grows increasingly less user-friendly day by day. so make my choice for me.

the smaller, lighter phone with a little bit worse battery life I can get in a few days

the larger, faster phone with a little better battery life I have to wait a few weeks for

HELP ME TWW

My DX runs like shit like that even without a live wallpaper using the stock launcher. It's a LOT better with launcher pro but still not perfect.

If you long press on the phone icon you'll get some options, one of them is change icon. If you can find the original icon you can use it but I don't know where it is.

i guess you can't use the default motorola icons. that's kinda lame. this has definitely helped the scrolling issues a little bit, but i'm really pissed off that this thing ran so smoothly up until a few days ago. is this something froyo will fix?

it'll only sync like 8% of the people w/ my phone contacts right now, and my blackberry tour did it just fine

Does anyone know of a good todo list type of app that puts items on my calendar that are "all day" items, but they carryover indefinitely, until I check them off?

^Does the tasks function of Gmail not do what you're looking for? You can assign due dates for them and they will show up on your Google Calendar.

On an unrelated note, I just installed Launcher Pro on my Incredible. I was afraid it would cause issues with the Sense stuff but nope, I can switch between them whenever I want. It's great, I wish I had installed it sooner

Really? Why do you say that? The app drawer in Launcher Pro is a little touchy but other than that it's been perfect.

On a different note I think I'm going to take my DX back on Friday when I get back in town and switch to an Incredible. Maybe I can keep switching every 30 days until something amazing comes out.

WTF does this even mean, just tell us which phones you are talking about. If you absolutely need a phone now get the one you can have sooner. If not, wait for the better one. How is this even a dilemma?

^Droid is a licensed trademark of Lucasfilm Ltd., Motorola has already licensed it (see the bottom of http://www.droiddoes.com), also from the page before:
Quote :
"R2-D2 DROID 2
In honor of the iconic Astromech Droid from the Star Wars™ Saga, Verizon Wireless will offer a limited-edition R2-D2 version of the DROID 2, available only online in September. The special version of the phone will feature exclusive Star Wars content and external hardware designed to look like the trusty Droid from the film saga. Visitors to the upcoming Star Wars Celebration V in Orlando, Fla., can see a preview of the limited edition phone and sign up to receive alerts when the phone is ready for sale."

Well you had to do more than update it...if you go to menu-settings while in the facebook app the stock sync settings worked well for me (you have to opt-in, it doesnt sync automatically). I might try the one you mentioned though to see if it has more options or something

Also I'm sure most people already know this, but I found out on my Evo that the battery charges twice as fast if the phone is turned off, fwiw

while i'm glad i looked at this thread so i can get my voice actions back, it now either takes an extra click to do a voice search through the navigation OR if it cannot understand my words through voice search by itself i will have to then open navigation and type it out

it used to be where i clicked speak and the prompt came up, now i click speak and another prompt comes up where i have to click speak again...just seems like an unnecessary step
