No speculation. An NCSU assistant coach posted it on TWW. Must be true.

if we don't get Wall, I'll eat my shoe
2/17/2009 11:38:36 AM
If we get Wall, I'll shit in the Well.
2/17/2009 11:41:47 AM
omg, we lead for wall...this means absolutely nothing. get him to sign his name on the dotted line and then i'll get my hopes up.
2/17/2009 11:55:43 AM
apparently little rumors that he was leaning toward us have been leaking out. as we win he seems to be more interested a i don't think he's ready to leave his mom yet.the duke board cited his mom as HUGE in us leading
2/17/2009 12:45:38 PM
you know what this means. final four incoming.
2/17/2009 12:50:06 PM
IMO, no source to back this up, but I think that Wall committing would make us gain ground with Cousins.
2/17/2009 12:51:48 PM
what is the link to that duke site? I want to read what those assholes know.
2/17/2009 12:55:59 PM

Here's an interesting quote from that thread:
2/17/2009 1:22:03 PM
if john wall was white, i'd be worried about duke.
2/17/2009 1:24:22 PM
holy shitthose are some rational responses on the Duke Rivals site. objective sports fans.Mindblowing.
2/17/2009 1:35:13 PM
Since Wall is a 5th year high school senior, would he even survive at Duke academically in the first semester? What if he went there and then was academically ineligible to compete in the spring?
2/17/2009 1:38:31 PM
2/17/2009 1:42:18 PM
^^ I doubt he would be taking rocket science classes or anything[Edited on February 17, 2009 at 1:42 PM. Reason : one more of those little ^'s]
2/17/2009 1:42:23 PM
I think wall being a 5th year senior in high school has more to do with him changing schools 3 times than his intellgence. I haven't heard one thing about him having trouble qualifying.
2/17/2009 1:43:15 PM
reading the Dook msg boards make me not hate them though
2/17/2009 1:44:40 PM
John Wall is highly 'learning disabled' if I recall.[Edited on February 17, 2009 at 1:47 PM. Reason : ]
2/17/2009 1:45:19 PM
yeah that would suck to get held back a grade during high school just for transferring.
2/17/2009 1:46:08 PM
how do you get through the NCAA clearinghouse if you're LD?
2/17/2009 1:47:12 PM
hahalf our football team under Amato was retarded. tutor with ASPSA and you'll find out real quick.
2/17/2009 1:57:20 PM
He repeated his sophmore year. -He went to Garner for two years-His mom moved out of the Garner district-Some coaches wanted him to go to WOG, but he went to Broughton because he wanted to stay in public school-He got cut from Broughton's team-He went to WOG and repeated because he could do that and still be eligible to play as a senior. His grades are fine. He's carrying a 2.6 GPA.
2/17/2009 2:13:06 PM
Wow, a 2.6 at such a rigorous institution. Maybe we can get him in as Park Scholar, and save the scholly.
2/17/2009 2:17:07 PM
I wonder why he got cut from Broughton
2/17/2009 2:21:03 PM
He probably got cut at Broughton because academics were pretty important there. I don't know how Ferrel was for basketball, but for lacrosse we were told (at least in the first 2 years of the program when I was there) school was more important than the sport. If you're not doing good, don't come to practice and fix the school issue. This had happened several times throughout the first two years of the lacrosse program there and it wouldn't surprise me if it was the same for basketball. I mean, Shavlik Randolph still had to go to class and got decent grades, though were probably inflated (I had heard his chemistry grade was, but could be a lie). So that could've been the thing with getting cut at Broughton, when I was there academics were viewed to be more important than the sports programs.
2/17/2009 2:29:39 PM
2/17/2009 2:33:02 PM
Broughton coach Jeff Ferrell declined to discuss why he cut Wall. Brock Young, a guard on the team and now at East Carolina, said it was a behavior issue, adding that he and other players felt Wall should not have been cut.
2/17/2009 2:34:51 PM
2/17/2009 3:53:48 PM
will not get my hopes up with him until his press conference
2/17/2009 3:57:33 PM

anyone know how high your SAT score needs to be with a 2.6? Thats a B- average I suppose. I have heard the same thing that WOG is legit w/ their athletes. I guess Roscoe Parish and Frank Gore were LD and got into Miami, but there's no way they get into State and UNC with the math/language requirements. found this:https://web1.ncaa.org/eligibilitycenter/hs/d1_standards.pdfapparently, you literally have to be retarded to not qualify to play an NCAA sport. With a 2.6 GPA, you need a 780 on the SAT. I got a fucking 900 in 7th grade and was one of the dumb ones. [Edited on February 17, 2009 at 7:00 PM. Reason : ]

So what happens when you have 3 scholarships and 5 or 6 commitments? Are 3 players screwed or what?
2/17/2009 7:25:08 PM
The scholly situation has been covered probably a dozen times in this thread. Do a search.
2/17/2009 7:29:33 PM
someone clearly gets screwed, or more than likely has already notified the coaches that they are leaving...so its generally not an issue. Now if you're 15 players over the scholarship limit, thats another story.
2/17/2009 7:30:16 PM
We currently have one scholarship available for the 2009 class. Costner may leave which would open up another scholarship.
2/17/2009 7:35:47 PM
... and if we happened to land a pg, i imagine there might be the possibility of a transfer, with brown and harrow already waiting in the wings.
2/17/2009 11:15:37 PM
Who would transfer, Mays? I don't think that Mays is in any danger of being outright replaced.
2/17/2009 11:17:23 PM
I would think with Wall starting and Degand getting backup minutes, Zo Brown and Mays would both play a good amount at 2. Wood might not play a lot, and Javi might not play much either.
2/17/2009 11:25:06 PM
no way would mays need to transferEven if we get Wall, Mays will probably play some pg.And then when he leaves, I think it'll probably be more of Mays and Harrow at the point with Zo playing the 2. Mays is gonna be a solid player for us.
2/17/2009 11:38:17 PM
Mays wasn't recruited as a PG, I think a SG but could be wrong. He'd be a lot better with Wall as he'd not be controlling the play and just trying to get into shooting position, but that's just me and I could be wrong about his not being a PG but I always thought that was the case.
2/17/2009 11:48:25 PM
well, his ugliest shot of the year was a game winner, so if we could move him to the 2 that'd be fantastic
2/17/2009 11:57:22 PM
2/17/2009 11:58:44 PM
I think he was recruited as a PG in the sense that we needed PG help, but he seems to be more of a scorer than a distributor...although since Fells is a senior, we need some 2 guard depth
2/18/2009 12:08:57 AM
I don't even look at scout, I just remember my roommate being confused when he was playing PG instead of his usual 2. I don't follow recruiting that high, though I have this year somewhat more in hopes of landing Wall as that'd be pretty amazing to bring in a player of his quality. His videos are pretty sick.
2/18/2009 12:21:04 AM
yes, john wall's videos are fucking nastyhe's so dirty that my mind can't even comprehend john wall playing for nc state, because the disappointment would be too great if we didn't get him.[Edited on February 18, 2009 at 12:34 AM. Reason : .]
