Didn't read through 65 pages but has anyone had any luck calling AT&T and getting them to let you get an iPhone even if you have upgraded in the last 21 months. I was going to get one for Christmas but I'm not eligible for an upgrade until May and I'm not paying $400.ATT premiere has refurbished 3G phones for the $200 even if you aren't eligible for the upgrade. Anyone go with a refurb?
12/24/2008 11:39:46 AM
A friend of mine went with the refurb on the first gen iPhone and it has given no problems to this day (over a year now).I haven't heard of anyone having any luck getting one early but hell, it's worth a shot. At worst though like you were saying the refurb might be a good bet.
12/24/2008 1:23:41 PM
I have a refurbished macbook pro.. when i was looking at their refurbished stuff online everything i was reading said they were basically just as good and very rarely gave any problems[Edited on December 24, 2008 at 1:25 PM. Reason : so i would assume that applies to the iPhones as well]
12/24/2008 1:25:01 PM
where does one find that store??

once you jailbreak your iphone - can you un-jailbreak it?^is that a subscription type service?
12/26/2008 5:04:37 PM
^yeah i believe you can just do the "restore default" option under itunes.
12/26/2008 5:33:09 PM
yea it's easy to "unjailbreak" them.
12/26/2008 5:52:08 PM
have any of the recent updates included the Push Service? I don't think i've seen any news about it. It was promised in September, but I guess Apple is just going to pretend like they never said it?
12/26/2008 7:52:07 PM
Push email/contacts/calendar through exchange works now..
12/26/2008 8:00:28 PM
no, not that. The "push API service" that they promised back when they introduced the 3G that will allow developers to use "push notifications" from the Application's server to the iPhone, as an alternative to allowing background applications

12/27/2008 3:28:53 AM
will the process of jailbreaking lose currently installed apps/settings/contacts/pictures/etc.? also is there a way I can specifically save the current backup file somewhere else on my computer in case it gets overwritten for some reason?
12/27/2008 11:57:04 AM
You can back it up in iTunes before you do it..but no, you will not lose anything at all.[Edited on December 27, 2008 at 12:12 PM. Reason : Def do it though just to be safe..]

seriously, drop it. take your bullshit to chit chat where it belongs.
12/27/2008 8:42:42 PM
OK about jailbreaking:This guide (http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1881) and just about every other I read say to do a shift-click restore using their firmware (I assume it is stock 2.2?) before applying the QuickPwn tool. So if I do that, I lose all settings/apps on there currently, right? Not worth it for me. I have an AT&T 3G iPhone running 2.2 (out of box), locked of course (and I'm not planning to unlock it in the near future).
12/27/2008 9:16:55 PM
If you do a backup in iTunes before you jailbreak then you'll be able to restore all your programs and settings afterwards.
12/27/2008 9:20:31 PM
You don't need to do any of that bullshit, just back it up then jailbreak it. I've done it multiple times and never had an issue
12/27/2008 9:49:56 PM
is there anything really worth jailbreaking for nowadays? didn't want to go searching through the thread to find interesting highlights.
12/27/2008 10:37:28 PM
cracked apps?
12/27/2008 10:39:21 PM
^^Qik
12/27/2008 10:40:12 PM
why do they call it jailbreaking?
12/27/2008 11:45:26 PM
Because you are freeing your phone from the restrictions put forth by Apple?
