zebra shoes CAN be cute. the hot pink zebra fold down flap things are not so much my style so, i am not a fan

but livinproof's zebra shoes are cute. i've seen them. well, i've seen her holding them!!!

goldengirl i think the shoes are cute

but i agree that if you buy them you must wear them with a very understated outfit and let the shoes be the focus

i'm not feeling the pink zebra shoes. the heel height and the fold-down part just don't work for me. plus, i just don't think it's smart to buy shoes from torrid/hot topic/generally crappy stores.

BUT, if you do buy them, do NOT wear them with anything pink OR zebra. seriously. please don't. no matchy-matchy or any of that.

as for those shoes kiwi posted, me likey.

^ when you have big feet there is a limited places you can shop for shoes...its like that or payless sadly...trust me if i had smaller feel i'd wouldn't be shopping there...
and ya i don't like the zebra fold over but I like them b/c they are shorter then the hot pink shoes i have.... plus if I wear them with dark jeans they'll cover the zebra part.

big as in like big size or like big as in wide?

you really cannot find shoes at like the shoe department of belks or something? and just to clarify i'm not saying it like in a mean way i'm just honestly curious. i wear a 7 the most popular size of all time i guess so when i can't find shoes its because all the 7s are taken. so i just don't know...do they not make a lot of heels in big sizes? what is big? because my friend is like 6 feet and has GIANT sized feet and she can find things a lot in belks and other places--places that have a really large selection of shoes/heels and lots of brands.

i've have size 12 feet. but i'm also 5'11... so payless, torrid, and some nine west shoes are my options. i have a very limited amount of places i can shop. also a lot of shoes in size 12 don't take into consideration that the person is prob. tall so i don't buy a lot of shoes b/c i'll be like 6'2 and thats too tall.

places like belks have limited sizes too.. my friend Emily is 6'1 and she and I are in the same boat. j crew has some shoes too. but thats bout it.

V i have a pair from torrids and they are holding up pretty well, even my ones from payless.

Goldengirl, I know how it is. I have WW or WWW wide feet. They're not long, 7.5, but the width makes it impossible to find anything decent. But I've realized that cheap shoes aren't even worth it. I know they're pricier, but have you looked at Zappos?

^^ oh wow. i didn't even realize. that is crazy. and yea i can understand the not wanting to wear heels because it will make you too tall. i always try to wear giant heels because i am short. but then they always hurt me and i take them off haha.

those are cute. i have something similar they are seychelles. i really like that brand. would a place like nordstrom carry more sizes? or would they still have limited sizes? they just have a really big shoe dept so i didn't know if they would have bigger sizes, or if it is like that everywhere.

edit: http://www.seychellesfootwear.com/

edit again: like i seriously love that brand. i just started looking around on their website. they have shoes i don't even know what i'd do with, but i want them.

so not me at all, but they are pretty to look at.

i want these for summa time

I need a pair of pewter shoes to wear in a wedding.... The bride just says she'd like pewter as the color - no preference on style.

My feet don't do very well in shoes with tiny straps, so a style like the one above would be about the most 'skimpy' I'd do - - The ones above are from Target, but the only others I've seen are $300+

Not opposed to spending a little, as long as they're something I can wear again....

..... Anyone have any ideas on a pewter comfy dress shoe?

Man, I was JUST looking at boots on sale yesterday. I have some patent leather pointed toes ones, but I just bought a more casual dress, and wanted a more round toe without shiny-ness.

So thanks for this heads-up! Were they all synthetic or by chance, were any of them leather? If so, even BETTER steal.

Personal opinion but that dress and shoe would look cute together haha.

oh i didn't even see the pink dress. is that from jcrew?? i LOVE their strapless seersucker dresses. they go on sale a lot (certain colors) that is the best time to buy them. they are THE easiest thing to wear in the summer. like...they can go for a wedding or you can just throw one on with flip flops and do whatever.

man, i love summer attire. dresses and skirts are just so much more fun to wear. and my butt doesn't have to fit in them and/or feel constrained.

Dresses are so much easier to wear. I love getting ready in five minutes tops and staying cool in the summer.

Oh you will looove danskos!

They aren't that cute but lord are they comfy!!!!!!

Nerdchick....go and try that dress on! The pleating makes everyone look pregnant unless you're super skinny and flat chested.

^oh good call!!!! on the dress. i didn't even notice the pleating at first. the ones i have are just the regular strapless seersucker a-line, no pleating. but either way, they are still a good multi purpose comfy dress.

^^^ hmmm ... I have a small chest so keep that in mind. I love the texture of the dress, also it's on sale for $78 down from $98 and they have several colors. Maybe I'll try one on this weekend. I may even have a cupon for 20% off!

PS QTPie, I love the shoes you posted! they look expensive, I never would've guessed Target

I have a couple of the old strapless ones before they added the pleats. I am a fan of the new halter style they have.

The seersucker is pretty great though. It's a perfect summer do anything dress. You can dress it up or down!

Man I forget where I saw these cute sandals. OH!!! Gap! Yea that's where it was. They're hanging on a wall with all the new stuff for spring.

I need advice:

This is the first time in my life that I need to have something (bridesmaid dress) shortened and I have no idea what to do. Where is the best place to go? How long before the wedding should I have it done? How much should I expect to pay?

This is the dress (except it's floor length):

i have always been a fan of lee's (though there are special bridal tailors around). lee's does everything and they will give you a free estimate (i think). http://www.leetailors.com/services.nxg

i've never gotten anything too crazy altered there, just jeans, pants and jackets. but i think they do formal wear, too (like even bridal gowns).

i would get it done asap after you have the dress, just incase (wherever you go). i'm not sure about the cost. but it probably varies a little with the fabric of the dress, too (because some things are harder to alter).

she probably bought it off the rack from a bridal or dress shop.

it's not often that a dress is "made for" a specific person. maybe if you're Angelina Jolie

The lady at the bridal store told me that anyone over 5'10'' should get extra length. So I ordered my dress and found out that "extra length" = 5 more inches of fabric. It'd be fine if I was wearing heels, but the bride picked out flats (probably because half the wedding party is over 5'8'').

I go to Duke's Tailor for all my alterations. I haven't had a gown or anything like that done, but I know people that have. They are great! I get all my pants done at that place since they're usually too long when I buy them.
