fuck ecu

I like how ecu makes such a big deal over this game. For the most part ncsu series not give a shit.btw this is funny shit Ecu is modernizing their logo to catch up to modern times. The old paste is getting replaced by a somali pirate. [Edited on October 17, 2010 at 1:22 PM. Reason : L]

fuck this game

one thing i noticed was that ECU has superb blocking
10/17/2010 2:56:42 PM
I hated the loss! But regardless I still had fun in greenville. When wearing my red around after the game I did get taunted, but what did I expect? ECU is a place I could have never graduated from because its too darn fun!
10/17/2010 3:38:27 PM
only thing that i got out of attending the game yesterday is that damn "all i do is win" song stuck in my damn head
10/17/2010 5:04:33 PM
I like how there were about 20 posts telling us to MAN UP or GET SOME BALLS in response to the stop playing ECU posts. Not a single logical, thought out reason to continue playing them. You guys can compete for some mythical fan championship where acting tough counts all you want. I don't care about that. We can get called out for being bitches or acting like UNC. Doesn't matter to me. What matters to me is putting our sports programs in the best positions to succeed. This is no different than manipulating the RPI in basketball (which we don't do either, I'm sure we're going to play a bunch of 300+ RPI teams again this year that actually hurt us when we win).
10/17/2010 5:10:19 PM
^^i still can't get that out of my head.^^^Greenville is a pisshole bro. The reason you would have never graduated from there is the high chance you would have been shot. FUCK GREENVILLE place is a shitstain
10/17/2010 5:27:17 PM
^^ VT and WV have had recurring games with ECU over the last decade. Both have come to Greenville multiple times. South Carolina starts a series with them next year. All 3 of those programs are currently more prominent than State's. The notion that State is "above" scheduling ECU is borderline retarded.
10/17/2010 6:24:09 PM
^ I agree.Hell, we made the return trip to UCF this year after they came to Raleigh in TOB's first season. I don't remember anyone saying the we shouldn't have played them. They're in the same conference...only difference is location.
10/17/2010 6:28:21 PM
^These argument needs to die. Ya'll are not getting the point. We don't think we are "above" ecu. We are saying that we can play an equal team that doesn't think that we are their rival. Same benefit with less down side.
10/17/2010 6:37:35 PM
10/17/2010 6:41:41 PM
^You're right. We should be undefeated every season. Have you contacted Deb Yow about that? Tom needs to know that we should win every game.
10/17/2010 6:48:24 PM
This game is good for college football in the area. I was at both games and it was an electric atmosphere at ECU yesterday and it was great at State in 2008. Most of the games are competitive and fun to be a part of (last 2 have gone to OT). The regional rivalries make college football distinct from the NFL and why it's a great sport. Pulling the "we shouldn't schedule them" card screams of sour grapes. No, maybe it doesn't help State's national profile, but neither do home games against Murray State or Gardner-Webb a la 2009. You can't schedule top 25 teams every game, nor would you want to.[Edited on October 17, 2010 at 6:55 PM. Reason : asdf]
10/17/2010 6:52:17 PM
^^ so let me see if I follow you - rather than play ECU, we should schedule a program of similar stature as ECU that doesn't happen to view us as a rival (and thus maybe wouldn't be as excited/motivated for the game)...??? that's asinine. really. i'm pretty sure no one associated with the football program would agree with your logic, because they likely have testosterone and don't want to be a bunch of nancies scared to play a program like ECU. Oh, and since someone said that no one has given reasons TO play ECU, here are mine 1) they're an in-state D1 team, so natural fit to play us, 2) high level of interaction between the schools' alumni bases, creating excitement for the game and thus better TV ratings and ticket sales, and 3) we should beat them most years. But even if 3 weren't the case, I'd still be up for playing them. Not necessarily every single year, but regularly. I'm much more interested in buying tickets to see us vs. ECU than us vs. UCF, So. Fla, etc.[Edited on October 17, 2010 at 6:56 PM. Reason : ^ agree with you!]
10/17/2010 6:55:23 PM
I would rather play ECU than UCF. I don't think we should play them every single year...but with 4 OOC games each season, I don't see why we can't play them every once in a while.I would be much more interested in a NCSU/ECU on the schedule than if we played, say, Tulsa or some other C-USA opponent.[Edited on October 17, 2010 at 7:10 PM. 10/17/2010 7:08:20 PM
football has become too political.just play who is on your schedule and deal with it. treat every game the exact same. you are trying to win every game right? Then why approach any game differently. Give it your all or get off the field.
10/17/2010 7:19:30 PM
prb185: Ok, you don't get this from an NC State fan's perspective.Playing ECU is only good for ECU, because it raises the Pirates' profile in the rest of the state. It does nothing for NC State's profile, win or lose. Playing an equivalent team to ECU in another part of the country gives NCSU better recruiting opportunities and more attempts to expand fanbase interest, whereas travelling to Greenville does nothing for recruiting or the fanbase. Playing Murray State and Gardner-Webb actually do provide something for NCSU, they provide a tune-up and home-game revenue. Certainly there's no reason to play them in Week 7, but that's why we play them in Weeks 1 or 2. There is no positive for NCSU to ever play against ECU. Now, there is upside for ECU, as it gives their fanbase something to get more excited about outside of their normal C-USA rivalries. It also raises ECU's in-state recruiting profile every time ECU beats NCSU. At best, it's a one-sided "rivalry" and in reality it's being forced to play with your much younger brother on his terms in front of all your friends so they can mock you later.
10/17/2010 7:32:43 PM
^ I'm an NC State fan, that is absolutely NOT my perspective. Oh well, we can all agree to disagree on this one. Some alums view ECU is a "little brother" that we shouldn't associate with, others of us see them as a fellow public NC university that it's ok to compete against in sports on a regular basis.Oh, and the argument for playing teams like UCF or other C-USA schools rather than ECU because they'll expand our "exposure and recruiting base" - that's a bit of a stretch. If anything, it makes more sense to play ECU because the travel is MUCH cheaper than any other potential OOC road games.[Edited on October 17, 2010 at 7:56 PM. Reason : .]

Finally some actual debate instead of a bunch of huff and puff
10/17/2010 8:03:03 PM
I'd rather have a rivalry with South Carolina then ECU. I just have a natural hate for them that's perfect.
10/17/2010 8:23:19 PM
I, too, would prefer a rivalry game with So Car than ECU. If for no other reason than more national exposure...So Car, while not a huge national power, does have good name recognition and is a good program. I don't mind playing ECU every once in a while...I don't want to play them every year, just because I think there are other opportunities out there and we shouldn't be tied down with one OOC opponent that stays the same every year.
10/17/2010 8:32:06 PM
The sad part is the real rivalry would be state and unc getting better and better in football. If the bomb does get dropped on chapel hill (which I hope it does) then we might need to find another team. I'll still enjoy destroying them.
10/17/2010 9:16:05 PM
conversation I had with some of the drunk ecu students sitting in front of me in between the flicking off's and fuck state.Them: Do you go to State?Me: Yes, I do.Them: O cool. We did not get into state so we came to ecu instead.Them: What year are you?Me: A sophomore.Them: What is your major?Me:Biology Them: Wow. That sounds really hard.
10/17/2010 9:18:47 PM
The players didn't seem to care/want to play ECU so why should the fans want the series renewed?
10/17/2010 9:29:58 PM
domonique davis said in the postgame that students told him: "we don't care how many games you win as long as you beat NCState"
10/17/2010 9:35:24 PM
I'm still wondering why they aren't hanging their heads in shame due to the fact 10 rows of bleachers collapsed during the game....

10/17/2010 9:57:07 PM
10/17/2010 10:02:04 PM
^Oh I completely agree with you in the fact that we should not discontinue the series. When I mentioned So Car being a rival, I was just saying that, yes, a team with more national respect/recognition would probably be better for us when it comes to national exposure...but if you keep reading my post you'll see I am in favor of playing ECU every once in a while.
10/17/2010 10:08:32 PM
it's difficult for me to call them a rival because i tend to pull for them in other games
10/17/2010 10:11:15 PM
go check out SoCar's schedules this decade. even with clemson as their last game of the year theyve still played another acc team most years. im guessing they wouldnt want us every year but if we get them 4 or 5 out of every 10 that'd be greatagain, no problem playing you guys every now and then. It just doesnt do it for me nearly every year and really doesn't do it for our program. I actually dont know that many people from ECU. The ones that went there from my high school I didn't keep up with and the number that went there vs App, UNCG etc was small[Edited on October 17, 2010 at 10:31 PM. Reason : ]

It sucks, but oh well, the ACC games really mater and we can still get to the championship game, FSU looked human against BC...doubt we will win out but at least the sky is not falling....that will happen if we loose any of our remaining games.
10/17/2010 10:38:19 PM
LOL. We can't beat ECU, but it's not worth playing them since we are so much better than them and it makes us look bad when we lose? Who the fuck invented this story?Let's just schedule Alabama, Boise State, Oklahoma and Ohio State every year since we deserve it. This way when we get blown out it won't be so bad, since we weren't supposed to win in the first place. And the political argument is even more ridiculous. Beat the fucking team on your schedule. End of story.
10/17/2010 10:44:00 PM
There were 2 old timers directly behind me talkin Xs and Os... after a missed call the state fan shook his head and said "Ron Cherry giveth...& Ron Cherry taketh away" I about choked on my nachos

We won in 08 and it was exciting. We beat a ranked team. We celebrated like we do all wins. They win and decide that they should come paint our fucking tunnel. Completely even rivalry. Fuck this "we have to play them" bull shit. Let them play WSU and App.^^Completely agree. We should go undefeated every year. [Edited on October 17, 2010 at 11:32 PM. Reason : .]

I dont mind us playing ECU as long as its like once every 3 or 4 years. Back in 2008 when ECU was ranked 15th in all the polls I was looking forward to seeing them come to Carter Finley so we could bring them back down to earth and we did. they got us back this past wknd, and now I dont want to see them for another 3 or 4 years, however while at the Sports-bar watching the game, half the place was in Purple/gold and the otehr half of the sports bar was in Red/white9and this bar was located in Chapel hill), and the way all of us were acting b4, during and after the game, it sure as hell has developed into a rivalry, no matter what anyone says! Now I was looking at our schedule for 2011, and we have like South Alabama...and Liberty on are god-damn schedule...REALLY.....REALLY???? id take ECU back on our schedule any God-damn day of the week before these two shit schools!!?? What the fuck was Lee Fowler thinking!!??? So glad his dumb ass is gone!
10/18/2010 12:05:47 AM
^Yeah Liberty sucks, wouldn't mind a little exposure to Alabama recruiting tho. Seem to remember a good quarterback/receiver duo coming from down there.

A good friend of mine who goes to ECU sent me this video from the the post game atmosphere in Dowdy Ficklen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XuXk1LXQXE&feature=player_embedded As much as I hate to say it, Ive been to State games in every ACC stadium except for BC, and as much as watching this video pisses me off-I would rate their stadium atmosphere right behind FSU(1) Clemson(2) State(3) and then ECU(4), we may not like it but id def. call them a rival. (dont think Ive ever seen so many elderly southern white folks trying to rock out to Ludicrous, hehe) ** We SOO better fucking beat FSU!!**
10/18/2010 2:43:36 AM
^If we were a non BCS school and we found an in state ACC school dumb enough to come into Carter Finley we would be crazy too. Hopefully we wouldn't copy Auburn in the celebration tho
10/18/2010 2:50:20 AM
^^More like (1)FSU, (2)Clemson, (3)Virginia Tech (4)Carter FinleyI've been to every ACC stadium except UVA, but i don't imagine theirs is up at the top
