Love that dress! Especially the backOlga can do errythang. She put a 32point bustle on my dress that required a damn map to navigate! Removed and reapplied lace as well. Her portfolio of dresses she has custom made in the past were gorgeous. I have no doubt she could put whatever you wanted on that dress to make it yours

Hey Sam, I've been having that same problem. I have these ideas of what I want and I think will look good/pretty. All my friends like them, but my sister (who is 10 yrs older, and my Matron of honor) and my Mom both try to talk me into other things that they like better. So, I started making decisions on my own (like my bridesmaids shoes, hair flowers etc.) and just buying them. And showing them after Also, I finally found a hair piece on Etsy and I am in loooove with it Bought it today. It compliments my dress and jewelry very well. Although, I still need my hair to grow like 3-4 inches in the next 3 months. Anyone know anything about hair extensions if all else fails? Here it is:
6/20/2011 10:29:34 PM
thanks guys ^ ps love that hair pieceI am really sad right now.I sent the website to my mom and sister and was like, woot I found the actual site so now I have more than a picture! And my sister's response was... "I like this dress more than the ones you showed us this weekend!"......................................Long story short: they didn't read my idea, at all, to the point of not even looking at the pictures (i.e, the dress I just showed y'all) - but at the time I sent it, they claimed they did read it. They even told me what not to do.After I pointed out to my sister that I did in fact send it, and that it was part of my flipping dress idea I wanted their opinion on, she immediately was like "Oh, oops! hehe. we went shopping for MY wedding stuff and blah blah blah, bought this, blah blah"......I just want 5 minutes where I can ask their opinion on something without my sister bringing something up about hers. I hardly ever even bring up my stuff because I know it bothers her - but it would be nice to feel like I'm also a bride before her wedding is over...[Edited on June 20, 2011 at 10:38 PM. Reason : ps ... the dress is in London -.o I wonder what that'll mean for finding it over here]

I'm sorry I haven't kept up with this thread much recently....so, Sam, your sister is also getting married....like near the same time as you?If so, then I'm sorry you're going through that. You may just have to be like "hey sis, so I listened to you and ideas for the last _____minutes/hours. Now I would like to tell you mine and, as my sister, I want your honest opinion."And if that doesn't work....you always have all of us to bounce ideas off of
6/20/2011 10:53:57 PM
She's getting married in October... so I have a feeling it'll get worse as time goes on. :\and I will always bounce my ideas of y'all
6/20/2011 10:56:30 PM
^youll be fine! we're here!!
6/20/2011 11:13:41 PM
Sam, that really sucks. Ill listen to any ideas you want to talk about! Speaking of, what are you doing with your hair? Also, that dress is freaking stunning. And this: http://www.naomineoh.com/id11.html is almost exactly where Im going with my dress now... I think Ill still do the knee length one but maybe as a reception dress? oh, and Im not doing it all by myself. I can sew but im no professional, so my grandmother is helping me. [Edited on June 21, 2011 at 9:16 AM. Reason : Sam, do you have a date?]

6/21/2011 9:11:00 AM
She had the nerve to tell my mom she "felt the same way."PLEASE.I have countless messages (and memories!) showing I know when to not bring up anything about mine - because I'm sorry, when someone is talking about a major part of their wedding.. shut up and let them have the spotlight. I never brought up any of my shit when she talked about her dress, the invitations, the place, etc. But when I talked about those things? Oh you better believe she started into her own shit.I'm so sick of her doing that. She is one of those people where if you're upset and try to say how you're feeling, she'll come back with, "WELL I FEEL THE SAME WAY." What. ever.Anyways. -.-^ I saw the sample sale thing!!! I wish I could pop into London. I might email the lady and ask if there's somewhere near here that carries her dresses.Butttt our date is May 19th of next year (a week after graduation, shoot me please) and I'm doing something like this for hair:What's your plan?? I like to see people's hair ideas

(we actually dont have very many together!)its kinda funny actually. i got the formal pics out of the way and i was DONE!people kept asking....don't you wanna take some more? to which i happily replied...."do you know how much of my normal life i spend in front of a camera? not today. not....today....." yay we're on his blog http://blog.lifestagefilms.com/2011/06/22/a-weezer-first-dance-that-rocks/
6/22/2011 2:03:27 PM
I love your dance! The wedding I went to this past weekend had such a boring first dance, so boring. They swayed back and forth for the whole song. Nothing more boring than that.
6/22/2011 4:04:27 PM
Heh we did the white people shuffle. He's not into dancing so I'm lucky we had a first dance at all
6/22/2011 4:13:49 PM
hahaha thanks!and theres nothing wrong with the wedding sway imo!the main reasons cody and i did it was because 1. we kinda wanted to take dance lessons anyway and this is a perfect thing to get us started and more importantly:b. we are like the least romantic couple on the earth and asking us to slow dance and kiss and be love dovey in front of 250 people is lolworthy in our eyes. we'd feel wayy waaaaaaaaaaay too awkward.
6/22/2011 7:46:11 PM
I loved Joie's first dance and I think it's a lot of fun and showcases their personalities. They spent a lot of time together practicing and they made it about them. Mine will be boring and I'm okay with it. My fiance doesn't dance and his comfort is more important than my guest's entertainment.Sam - I'm sorry that is happening to you. I have a friend who is getting married in November and I call her the sniper. Every time someone asks about my wedding, she interjects with what she is doing. What I've done to deal with her is I say something like, "Well, that sounds lovely. I'm really looking forward to your wedding" and then go back to talking about mine or I just try to avoid the conversation while she's around. It seems to appease her sometimes and other times she doesn't take a hint.
6/22/2011 7:47:54 PM
^ it won't be boring! don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
6/22/2011 7:51:12 PM
Thanks for the advice guys - I think one reason I am feeling like I should just shut up is because I'm her MOH (and she's mine). I try not to bring up my stuff very often. :\ And omg. I'm glad you guys brought up the comfort thing.I told Eric and our photographer they will be lucky if we have one kissing picture - and if we do, it'll be the one when they say, "you may now kiss the bride"I swear to you, if anybody does that clinking glass thing, this will be me:
6/22/2011 8:38:50 PM
I was surprised our photographer got some candid pics of us kissing. They were like ninjas
6/22/2011 8:41:43 PM
I got my boudoir pics back!!!! Some of them were pretty LOLI know some of y'all are thinking of doing the boudoir pics, so if you're thinking April from Evoke, I don't mind emailing an example over (I'm modest so in most of them I'm mostly covered.. hell, the first set with the football jersey is so not risque haha )

6/26/2011 6:49:05 PM
Alright- LADIES- I need help I need a band for our reception that could also play ceremony music. I was looking at having the Old Habits play, but they're QUITE expensive- other than that, they're perfect. Any ideas for where I can find a decently priced band to play in eastern NC? The reception is in the middle of the afternoon and I'd like for it to be kind of bluegrassy/local country sounding, but also able to play some songs we've all heard before. I DONT want a cover band to play cheesy shit....I want something unique sounding and professional.Gigmasters.com seems to be the only place I know of to fish around. Any ideas, suggestions, ANYTHING is appreciated. Thanks y'all.
6/27/2011 1:12:02 PM

wow your pictures are wonderful!! it looks amazingif you don't mind (or you can send me a pm) what kind of price range did the wedding run, all told?i never get my hopes up about a "real" wedding because i think it will be too expensive but it sounds like you got a lot of bang for your buck and everything looks great!!!
6/29/2011 9:22:12 AM
i knowwwwwww. i love everything about it!
6/29/2011 9:34:29 AM
joie i wanna see pics of your wedding too!! and price range if you're comfortable giving one, here or privatelyi just like to get an idea of what is possible within a range. i understand its a lot of work and a lot of DIY but im just curious and interested. if you guys dont want to share i 110% understand
6/29/2011 9:37:40 AM
We spent under $7000 on everything. I could have brought it under $5000 but I decided to get a nicer dress and I didn't want to skimp on photography (our biggest ticket item).
6/29/2011 9:43:47 AM
i'm working on pics now it'll be a little bit....i do have a couple of our centerpieces hold a sec
6/29/2011 10:00:46 AM
the photography was totally worth it, amazing pics!thanks for sharing the range how many people attending?
6/29/2011 10:00:59 AM
We had 58 people rsvp and 54 people attend. Not bad considering we invited 80 people and maybe a dozen of them live in NC.
6/29/2011 10:04:08 AM
thats really good wolfpackgrrrwhat all was do it yourself??we had quite a few things and GG on not skimping on photography....it looks so good!!!and here are some of the centerpieces:we had about 20-30 tables and each one had a different centerpiece.i don't think we got pics of them all, but we got a lot we gave the florist a lot of creative license.it was cheaper that way and it was fun to see what they came up with....we didn't know much until the day of!!!! [Edited on June 29, 2011 at 10:16 AM. Reason : sdfdfds]
6/29/2011 10:09:32 AM
The centerpieces rock! For DIY, the centerpieces, table runners, desserts, place cards, guestbook, lighting (indoors and outdoors), menu cards, invites, save the dates, hair and makeup were all done by us.
6/29/2011 10:27:39 AM
that is so awesome.soooooo personal that way [Edited on June 29, 2011 at 10:30 AM. Reason : and you did a DAMN good job btw ]
6/29/2011 10:28:42 AM
Awww thanks! It definitely took a lot of work but I also had a lot of time. Being able to post what vendors we had in installments definitely helped too. $1500 doesn't sting as bad when you spread it out over a year and a half
6/29/2011 10:36:35 AM
the budget for mine is getting out of control.srsly.
6/29/2011 10:36:58 AM
whens the date? do you have a guest number (ish)?
6/29/2011 10:40:16 AM
Rein it in! We could have easily spent $20k if we did every single thing I wanted. Some things I'm just waiting to do on our ten year anniversary
6/29/2011 10:40:59 AM
next spring, date set, ~150.already booked location, and I'm fairly certain on rehearsal dinner location. was thinking of doing cafe luna for the rehearsal dinner, in one of their back banquet rooms. anyone done this?since we're doing it in NC, planning from Texas is interesting. Making a trip back and scheduling meetings with caterers in July. being who i am, i'm like, "yo ill plan the food, booze, and honeymoon, you take care of the rest". this is a point of major concern for me. we specifically booked a location that allows outside caterers, and supplying your own alcohol. the markup some places charge for these is insane. however, i don't know how i feel about paying $50-70/person for food, but i really want to have a really nice, sit down meal. i'm not sure i'll find the quality i want in the $30-40/person range. this is place we could shave a significant portion of the cost off, and i realize that, but it's hard to do.[Edited on June 29, 2011 at 11:13 AM. Reason : idk]
6/29/2011 10:56:42 AM
dudewhen'd you pop the question?
