I think you misread. They resigned in support of their fellow violent cops.

Also ACAB is by far most widely used by anarchists (aka left wingers and not skinheads) and ujustwait is a dumb fucking liberal for whining about graffiti

Those cops resigned from that special team, they didn't quit their jobs. They're still cops.

Watch out, we’ve got a performative ally who is way better at protesting than everyone else here!

At the moment I’m working with local activists to root out cop plants who are leading our marches. I can guarantee if you lived here you’d be among the people doing the Cha Cha Slide at their direction and cheering at the cops they invite to speak.

Actually I take that back. You wouldn’t show up at the protests at all.

Very easy way to message all your reps and ask them to support defunding and re-allocation. They have most major cities on here.

^^Why wait on Minneapolis? Right now you can see what happened in Camden, NJ:

Quote :
"Disbanding an entire police department isn't unheard of—the city of Camden, New Jersey did it in 2013 and as a result, saw an improvement in the relationship between police and residents as well as a dramatic drop in violent crime.

Scott Thomson, Camden's police chief until last year, oversaw the city's shift to community policing around eight years ago.

At the time, Camden had become synonymous with crime and was considered among the deadliest cities in the U.S. After a rise in homicides in 2012, the city had wanted more officers patrolling the streets, but couldn't afford to hire them, according to Bloomberg.

The following year, the city's police department was disbanded and replaced with a new one covering Camden County that had more officers, but on lower pay, according to a City Lab report. "

Quote :
"Last year, the city adopted a new use-of-force policy that instructs officers to de-escalate first and fire weapons and use any other force only as a "last resort." Thomson told NJ.com at the time that the policy should be used as a national model.

The remaking of Camden's police department appears to have led to crime rates falling in the city. Camden recorded 67 homicides in 2012, while last year, there were 25, according to Bloomberg.

Now, Camden is being hailed as an example of how police departments can be reformed as protests against police brutality and systemic racism continue across the U.S. "

two weeks ago, Minneapolis had 425,000 people and 800 officers

Camden has 77,000 people and 400 officers.

so...we will wait to see how things go with Minneapolis hiring and training 2,200 cops to replicate their system.

It will be great if they pull it off.

Camden isn't an ideal model, agree with you there. But even that would be far better than anything we've ever seen in a major city. Based on what I've seen from Minneapolis city council, they have an ear out to activists who will be able to push them toward a better framework.

Just like anything else, we shouldn’t assume what is in place today or the approaches taken to improve on what is currently in place are either correct or the best application. Reevaluating how we do criminal justice in this country isn’t wrong or radical. It’s a common sense approach that any business would apply to their goods and services.

If we are seeing more arrests not fewer, more people imprisoned not fewer, more people murdered by law enforcement not fewer, then the current system needs revision.

This isn’t a hard concept and I’m baffled why it’s up for debate.

Wait, what? The Morgan Freeman who called Black History Month (ridiculous), that stated that the best way to get rid of racism was just to stop talking about it, who denied that there is institutional racism today?
