^I might have already told you this but Jakar Hamilton cut his list to Bama and UGA so you might want to remove him. I don't know if you wait to take guys off the board until they commit somewhere else or not.
6/25/2009 4:24:40 PM
i usually just wait until a commitment somewhere. if you have an article handy with him saying i'm down to here and here, i'll go ahead and take him off.
6/25/2009 4:31:20 PM
here's a link to the article: http://recruiting.scout.com/2/874335.html sounds pretty definitive but you never know.
6/25/2009 4:36:57 PM
ok, thanks. it's hard to always keep up with who is down to who so i'll usually keep them up there until there's a commitment. if you get anymore info like that, link to the article and i'll try to amend as necessary.

Wow big news after camp today. I'll summarize. When asked, Amerson said straight up that State is in the lead. He also said a decision could be coming soon. Hopefully the golden domers don't gain any favor during his last visit. Anyway, we get this kid and I think we guarantee ourselves the best in state recruiting class. The dominos should fall into place with the other big talent after this.
6/25/2009 5:26:31 PM
^hell yeah! awesome news...thanks for the update.

I WILL RESTATE THAT I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL FOOTBALL SEASON BEGINS.
6/25/2009 5:40:48 PM
any word on who'll get the qb offer? the pp guys thought hutson mason looked the best in the first camp.
6/25/2009 5:41:08 PM
No, not really. In my opinion, if no one stands out AT ALL, give it to Days. He can play QB, CB, and even a little tailback. We are his favorite and we have not even offered him. Plus, since him and his brother want to go to school together it gives us the in. The younger of the two Days brother is apparently an absolute stud. We can't offer the younger brother until September I believe. Archer has said we would offer him for sure if he was a '10 kid and not an '11. But hell, after this Boisture (BC - MSU) incident, why not throw an offer out to Pete Thomas anyway. Maybe he will leave ASU and come over here. We were high on his list before extending an offer anyway. I think he committed more out of fear of spots filling. The Days situation might be a little risky since we are so incredibly thin at QB. Woops. Did not mean to post on my roomates name. [Edited on June 25, 2009 at 5:56 PM. Reason : df]

So what do you guys think Green, Teal, and Box will be rated once they get fully evaluated? Both Box and Green kind of came out of nowhere, while people following our recruiting had heard of Teal but didn't pay as much attention b/c he wasn't rated yet. I've seen Box and Green's videos, but have yet to watch Teal's. Hopefully they will get 3 stars so that it will count toward our recruiting ranking. I'm not too concerned about recruiting rankings, but it would be nice to get our name out there for recruits and the media to see. Hype, when deserved, can be a good thing and help elevate a program.
6/25/2009 7:42:51 PM
See, I do not get what exactly qualifies as being rated. Both Green and Box (according to their profiles) were at the Atlanta Scout.com combine. Teal was at the Charlotte combine. Shouldn't they have been rated there? Singer is the only one on the list who has not been to any big time events.
6/25/2009 7:57:38 PM
Well I think what happens is that the scouts are quick to establish who are the top players. They are usually the combine freaks. The guys that aren't combine freaks, but are very good in their own right, might catch the scouts eyes, but not enough to be immediately rated if they still have to check out some other camps and players. There's probably not too much difference in the #65 and #75 DT, but there could be a tremendous amount of difference between the #3 DT and the #13 DT.
6/25/2009 8:01:12 PM
I think all 3 of them will be 3-stars before their senior seasons and then could move up based on their performance during the year.I really like the fact that 2 of these guys could play multiple positions, esp. on the OL. With our history of injuries, it could be really helpful down the road. But like TOB says, they can come in 1-stars as long as they leave 5-stars.
6/25/2009 8:04:37 PM
lol just read the trash about Hill. Guess we can probably kiss him goodbye. Unless TOB and staff get one more crack at it, I would say Blake's religion speech did the job.
6/25/2009 8:05:28 PM
^ speaking of that (religion) there was a #1 running back that Clemson picked up 2 years ago and he said what sealed the deal was that he saw a bible on Tommy Bowden's desk (The kid went to one of those religious charter schools or something). And i think some writer talked to clemson about how they used pinpointed religious overtones with certain recruits.
6/25/2009 8:16:51 PM
^^^^ I'd say there's not much difference btw a 75 DT & a 25 DT
6/25/2009 9:21:29 PM
Totally unrelated to the topic at hand, but every time I see izzykareem I think to myself, "I DON'T KNOW, IS HE?"
6/25/2009 9:48:09 PM
I think it should be mentioned that D.J. Green earned all-conference, all-region, and all-state honors as a junior last year. That is saying something since he is playing in the talent-laden state of Georgia. Green received heavy interest from Alabama, Auburn and Florida fwiw.

*Had to put something up, can't stand seeing an ASU thread at the top of the heap.*Looks like we've made Hailes top 4 (NC State, VaTech, PSU, LSU). Actually his top three since his coach said he's not gonna take any more unofficials after he visits PSU this weekend and he has yet to visit LSU.
6/26/2009 10:49:15 AM
If we could get Hailes back on campus, I think we could land him(he LOVED his visit with us...but it's been a while since he visited, I think it was the Spring game). But as it stands now, I'd be shocked if it wasn't Va Tech.
6/26/2009 11:20:04 AM
^ I didnt realize this until I lived in Va for a while, but Most Virginians are VT fans. IDK of many UVA fans.

6/26/2009 1:00:08 PM
the latest scout article on Freshad Hunter didn't sound very good as far as we're concerned...it was mostly about how excited he was to be visiting LSU and how he really liked ECU, not even a mention of State.
6/26/2009 1:49:20 PM
so whats the deal with michael lemon? still waiting on the trial or whatever??
6/26/2009 3:10:52 PM

^ and that is what truly matters. well championships matter too. i always laugh when Carolina fans say that they have the better program. we've recently put more high profile players into the pros (especially with the #4 pick in the 2004 draft and #1 pick in the 2006 draft). we've been to 6 bowls this decade to their 3. also we've got more conference titles than them.

Andy McCollum lead up his recruitment.ESPN EvaluationIts hard not to come away liking Winkles as a total football on film. He's a productive two-way player at the high school level showing good tools and ability at both linebacker and tight end. While he displays reliable hands and the ability to shield defenders and absorb the big hit, we feel he will most likely get recruited at inside linebacker. Lacks ideal height but is very thick, compact and durable. Has a good nose for finding the football. Flashes good strength and short-area power at the point of attack and is very stout downhill filler between the tackles. Consistently jolts blockers back showing striking upper-body strength and better-than-adequate leverage. Very difficult to turn out of the hole when he fills fast downhill; a guy who will certainly blow up the fullback iso and be productive versus two-back power schemes. Strong, punishing tackler who drives through from his hips. Scrapes well with adequate hand technique. While he flashes adequate lateral agility occasionally sidestepping the trash between the tackles, we do see some hip stiffness changing direction and turning to run to pursue outside. Range and athleticism diminish as he moves outside of the tackles. Inside we still feel he may struggle mirroring the cutback and recovering sharply when he overruns. May be limited to situational run downs versus downhill power running teams. Overall, we like Winkles motor and raw strength/explosiveness at the point of attack but he lacks the speed and lateral footwork to project high as a major college linebacker at this time. May be falling under the radar at the mid-major level.Logan WinklesFullbackThomaston (GA) Upson LeeHt: 6-foot-1Wt: 245 lbsForty: 4.7 secsVertical: 31 inchesShuttle: 4.35 secsSquat: 480 lbsBench: 330 lbsClean: 310 lbsThree Cone Drill: 7.34 secsVertical Jump: 30.7"Broad Jump: 9'9''40-yd dash: 4.820-yd shuttle: 4.34Power ball throw: 34'First team all-state recognition. where do they find these kids????in the packpride article he says something like "i've never played fullback, but i can't wait to line up and smash somebody 5 yards away" or something like that. What i like most of all is the kid actually wants to come here. I think this is the difference in alot of recruits who go to national powers. They go there and do 150% whereas if you get a guy because you are the only school that's offering him, you never know what you'll get.
6/26/2009 8:53:30 PM
Well he played both LB and TE in high school. I think being a TE will help him tremendously in transitioning to being a FB. Heck Clem Johnson was a QB primarily, and the coaches have turned him into a pretty darn good safety. He already knows how to block and catch which is what our FBs do.
6/26/2009 11:00:20 PM
6/26/2009 11:17:45 PM
^well that doesn't matter seeing as hes not playing LB for us. This kid will be a stud Fullback for us. His blocking highlights are . Kinda like Asa Watsons last year
6/26/2009 11:24:48 PM
He plays with wreckless abandon. It's awesome as shit. You just have to love the recent string of players TOB is bringing in. Maybe their measurable aren't WHOA, but they're all football players -- physical, passionate, and tough as shit
