I guess I get the argument, but it's just an homage to a shitty show right? Does everyone have similar issues with Say Yes to the Dress?
10/2/2014 2:00:21 PM
Progressives would do well to try and cater to low information voters this way too, realistically. Not every voter cares about stoic policy rhetoric.Republicans have been very effective with coming up with catch phrases for their issues (death panels, obamacare, axis of evil, entitlements, calling people socialists, etc.), and these things work.
10/2/2014 2:25:05 PM
Some republican candidates are appearing to become more progressive on social issues, or they're just saying that to get elected.http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/politics/2014/09/republican_candidates_are_avoiding_social_issues_gop_politicians_don_t_want.html

By "they" you mean the 2,901 random online respondents to the survey? I really don't understand how half the posts in this thread are related to "GOP credibility." But then again, I'm the one responding to the post above so that makes me part of the problem I guess.

we all know how much conservatives hate polling (at least they do until it tells them that Romney is going to win an election, then it's gospel)
10/21/2014 9:36:07 AM
Ha the unskewed polls thing... i still hold that one over my friend's head who fell for that after he started watching Fox News, because that's what his FIL watched.

The best democrat can't compete against gerrymandering and rabid fundies. And there is often not a democrat worth voting for.

you should stick with the latter; it makes you sound less stupid

does their credibility go up once the presidency is the only thing blue?IM NOT MAKING ANY PREDICTIONS OR ANYTHING BECAUSE GOD DAMN I AM ALWAYS 100% WRONG.but would you interpret that as american anger towards democrats?or are you guys just going to claim republican cheating etc?or better yet just call americans dumb. thats simple enough. im really just curious (not trying to pick a fight).[Edited on October 29, 2014 at 6:46 PM. they still have something like a 70%+ disapproval rating, if they gain seats i think the only conclusion would be that people are unhappy with democrats, or unhappy with incumbents, but not that voters have some kind of mandate for what republicans are doing right now

assuming the latest numbers to hold and come true, what will the first 100 days of our new red overlords look like?

There's going to be a continuous line of gotcha bills sent to the White House.

it would probably look like what happened to NC, and the Supreme Court would probably be very busy
10/29/2014 8:17:39 PM
^^ but at least there will be bills headed to the white house for once. Thanks Harry Reid!
10/30/2014 9:52:22 AM
O ye of little memory. Do you honestly think that the obstruction genie that Senate Republicans have uncorked over the last six years doesn't work both ways?
10/30/2014 9:56:18 PM
if Republicans take the Senate, how quickly do you think they stomp down any talks about impeachment? Do you think leaders will make public statements against any who still call for it, or will they just ignore any continued calls for it and hope no one notices?
10/31/2014 1:32:06 PM
I hope leaders publicly acknowledge that there's just a fringe talking about it and that nobody is taking it seriously. But it needs to come from top Republican officials.
10/31/2014 8:28:21 PM
Do Republicans really respond to associating anyone and everyone with a (D) beside their name to President Obama? I ask because I saw commercials running that morphed a guy's face in a state senate race (Watauga County) into that of Obama's. There has to be a point at which such absurd comparisons simply become comical. Also, has anyone seen ads from conservatives about teh gheys being able to get married now? I would have thought Judge X or Register of Deeds Y would have somehow been attached to all of this silliness in some rural, conservative county.

So how long before the NC GOP institute a 3min time limit to vote like they have in Louisiana? Try voting for candidates, 14 state constitutional amendments, and local referenda...
11/4/2014 9:57:36 PM
11/4/2014 10:19:20 PM
Right, but that was an extremely high profile race. I'm talking about some local state senator of relative obscurity. Hell, that fool probably won too.
11/5/2014 7:54:57 AM
3 minute time limit? That's retarded. I wonder what the rationale behind it is.
11/5/2014 7:57:51 AM
11/6/2014 6:47:42 PM
11/6/2014 7:24:51 PM
I can dig up the statute if you don't believe me, but I have no incentive to lie in this regard. Just think of how cumbersome it becomes when you eliminate the option of straight-party voting...
11/6/2014 10:22:54 PM
I was reading pre selected candidates from my phone and I'm pretty sure it took longer than 3 minutes.
11/7/2014 12:09:18 AM
No phones allowed
11/7/2014 6:12:08 AM
^ I always found that stupid. What are you going to do with a phone? Cheat? Actually know what the candidates stand for?
11/7/2014 6:50:36 AM
How could you cheat with a phone?
11/7/2014 6:54:35 AM
The terrible reasoning used for it is that you could use a phone to record your votes to certify to someone paying for your vote that you voted for who you were supposed to. Obviously terrible reasoning since the elections are bought much more subtly than that.
