Just got back from the Bell's tap takeover at Sam's...Bell's Black Note is a serious beer to start the day with
8/31/2012 2:49:26 PM
Gotcha, we don't get it in the Raleigh area until sometime in September.I'm going to be in Asheville this weekend and I've been tasked to find a coffee-ish beer that isn't available here (Raleigh). Any suggestions?
8/31/2012 3:34:00 PM
all you jerkfaces that i keep seeing on the internet finding black note on tap can just go right on and fuck yourselves. [Edited on August 31, 2012 at 3:36 PM. Reason : e]

^^ the only coffee beer I know for sure comes out of there - besides Highland Thunderstruck - is Pisgah Valdez (it's awesome), but it is draft or growler only if it's even around
8/31/2012 4:17:13 PM
There's Catawba Valley King Coconut Porter, but I don't know if it's out yet
8/31/2012 6:37:47 PM
that sounds kinda scary, honestly... i love coconut but i hate artificial coconut flavor. I tried one of those coconut water rockstars and couldn't more than two sips. coconut rum is kinda ok though... i wonder what the difference in flavorings is.
8/31/2012 6:44:27 PM
^ it's actually pretty great, they roast their own coconutthat reminds me - CV Hyper Monkey Java Stout, also of uncertain availability, but Bruisin' Ales or Appalachian Vintner usually have growlers of whatever is current[Edited on August 31, 2012 at 6:46 PM. Reason : o]

Have enjoyed some good beers this weekend. Cascade Apricot is damn good, much better than the Vine. BASC is next week, $20 each, limit 4I plan to get 4, but my budget may not allow more. Should be able to offer one for trade though.

Growler of this for the Labor Day cookout.

Narwhal Imperial Stout is he latest beer in Sierra Nevada’s High Altitude Series. This malt-forward monster is bold – with notes of baker’s cocoa, molasses, and dark roasted coffee. This massive imperial stout is incredibly complex, rich, and intense and will develop in the bottle for years to come. 9/6/2012 9:41:15 AM
^^^i read/saw that as liquid shitsi think that's more fitting
9/6/2012 9:44:22 AM
I saw "liquid piss."I love peanut butter...I love beer...I don't think that's a good combination. But I'll probably give it a shot.
9/6/2012 9:51:06 AM
yeah that looks terrible.
9/6/2012 9:52:05 AM
Chocolate Peanut Butter Porters are awesome, we've had two breweries experiment with it here in Denver (Renegade and Copper Kettle) and both turned out great. Renegade used like 1000 Reece's Peanut Butter Cups in their beer. I can't speak to Terrapin's liquid pissshit, but name aside I'd at least try it.[Edited on September 6, 2012 at 11:03 AM. Reason : .]

9/7/2012 2:43:13 PM
nope, had 20+ sours in a day with no consequences, i have heard of it happening to some though, mostly acid-reflux
9/7/2012 3:52:25 PM
Just got back from Foothills, BASC is pretty damn good but I'm not camping out for it.
9/7/2012 10:05:46 PM
Props to Jeepin4x4 for scoring be a bottle - its was finally nice to meet you in person.
9/8/2012 11:04:07 PM
drinking this tonight, not bad, almost tastes Belgian.
9/9/2012 12:01:47 AM
^^lol, asshole. i should have kept on driving. it was a very well run release yesterday. I think Foothills made the right move by holding the official release until the very last minute. It kept the crowd at an amount the pub and staff could handle and everyone was able to get their share of bottles. We got in line around 5:30am, we were #148 and 149. When the pub opened at 8am there were probably 200-225 at the most. The WSPD allowed drinking in line from 2am-5:30am and from everything i heard they were really cool about it. But it was smart to stop the drinking at sunrise. the crowd wasn't rowdy, everyone (for the most part) was sobered up and respectful with only a few obnoxious people, none i came in contact with. got to try some nice beers. In very small amounts, but they still left an impression. Hill Farmstead Society 4 and Heady Topper just to name a few. The HT, in a 4oz pour was all it has been cracked up to be. I was instantly hooked.
9/9/2012 11:38:27 AM
Lonerider is in the process of building a new tasting room. I went over there yesterday to drop off a keg and there are no longer stairs to get to their office Good for them doing well enough to expand.
9/11/2012 10:16:50 AM
Lonerider was the "official beer" of the CNN Grill at the DNC.
9/11/2012 10:52:32 AM
Tried this stuff this past weekend. It was fantastic.
9/11/2012 11:28:48 AM
