My Droid X battery situation magically cured itself a day or two after posting about terrible battery life. Thursday night I charged it for about 30 minutes before heading out because it was about dead as usual up to that point. The Google GPS application froze while in the car and I had to shutdown and turn back on the phone to reset it. Ever since then the battery life has worked like a friggin champ and im getting 30-40 hours of light use before I get to 50% battery life. I know i've had the phone off before because I tried removing and reinstalling the battery. I may have just removed the battery after the phone had died though instead of manually shutting it down. Maybe it just took going through the proper shutdown sequence once to correct/apply updates/duplicate rainbows.

anyone get unrevoked and barnacle working on the evo? i just tried it out today. unrevoked says the phone has been rooted and then barnacle tries issuing a su command and fails. wondering if unrevoked no longer works or something...
7/26/2010 12:48:53 PM
Have you power cycled the phone since the update? That made a huge difference for me.
7/26/2010 1:06:32 PM
yep i did
7/26/2010 1:10:32 PM
^just use toasts' method and permaunlock NAND while you're at it.
7/26/2010 1:19:59 PM
Son of a bitch! Unplugged for 9 hours, 41 minutes. The goddamn Email process has eaten 27% of the battery.
7/26/2010 4:24:17 PM
Have you removed the account and tried re-adding it? Might also want to clear data under Email in Settings-Application-Manage Applications.Road SMS app from Samsung. Isn't really all that great imohttp://www.droid-life.com/2010/07/26/download-road-sms-app-from-samsung-galaxy-s/

i think moto is sending me a free backflip for no reason tomorrow lololol there is a reason]
7/26/2010 5:20:22 PM
lol. Too bad they didn't send you a better phone.
7/26/2010 6:04:17 PM
i wouldn't have minded if they accidently sent me a telus milestone (since it's fully functional on ATT's network when unlocked, but costs something stupid like $650 OOC) but since I now how what's going on I'm anxious for it to get here.
7/26/2010 6:07:37 PM
pttyndal: I found that same suggestion on another site yesterday evening. I've removed the account and recreated it. So far, I haven't noticed any undue battery use, but this morning will be the first appreciable length of time it's been running on battery since yesterday. We'll see around lunchtime how it looks.

are there USB HID drivers/app for HTC EVO 4G like No2Chem had for WinMo/TouchPro. I want a portable emergency USB keyboard.
7/27/2010 10:30:27 AM
Interim report: The phone has been unplugged for 3 hours and 45 minutes, and Email is the low man on the totem pole at 2% battery consumption.

one thing i miss about the iphone is how phone numbers and addresses would auto-link (in emails, texts, internet, etc) and you could dial/map them with a single click.is there any app that does this in Android?
7/27/2010 3:26:03 PM
I'm not sure about addresses but my blur (at least on my backflip) will allow you to click on just about any number and dial it.
7/27/2010 3:27:32 PM

7/27/2010 9:45:04 PM
I just ordered my Droid X today. I bought into the tiered data pricing rumors for Verizon so I went ahead and upgraded from the Storm2. I probably should of sat on my hands and waited until some sweet 4G phones but im pumped to enter the world of android.

Froyo/SenseUI leaked for the Incrediblehttp://www.androidcentral.com/froyo-sense-leaks-droid-incredible

i will suck all ya'lls dick for a google app inventor beta
7/28/2010 7:27:26 AM
I've not looked much into rooting or other roms, because I have an incredible and it's been doing everything I need to, but the mobile hotspot really interests me in 2.2, and I feel like VZW is going to disable it.I had a couple basic questions:- If I root my phone and flash different ROMs, is there any danger of permanently damaging the phone? (I know it CAN be bricked, but how likely is it, based on forum posts or other news you guys might have seen?)- Can i go back to stock at some point and have nobody be the wiser? (Not that this matters with the new DMCA interpretations).I should add, I am not completely dumb, I have read some of the documentation, like: http://www.jonamerica.com/technology/howto-root-the-htc-droid-incredible/I am just nervous about it for some reason. ^^I'm in the same boat. I haven't rooted or done anything to my Incredible but I would really like to try one of these stock 2.2 roms without SenseUI.
7/28/2010 11:10:54 AM
for any recent Sprint converts out there, is it just me or does their website/my account sections suck?
7/28/2010 12:03:03 PM
sprint is the slowest to catch on of any company in historyyou can expect them to upgrade it by 2023

where the fuck is 2.2 for evo
7/29/2010 11:39:35 AM
7/29/2010 11:44:11 AM
When are these alleged 2ghz phones supposed to be out? Also, if they are just rolling out 2.2, how long will it take for the carriers to roll Gingerbread out (assuming it comes out when they say around the holidays)?
7/29/2010 11:45:29 AM
I mean the leaked seemingly official Sense build.
7/29/2010 11:51:24 AM
so this is small, but the appointment reminders are pretty annoying.they pop up, but don't tell you very much about the event you set them for. for example, say you have a dentist appointment tomorrow at 5pm, and you set the reminder for one day prior, it pops up and says dentist appointment, but the date comes up as today. it lists the time/date of the reminder, not for the actual appointment.is there some app that'll help with this, or am i stuck with it for now?
7/29/2010 1:20:36 PM
has anyone tried hoccer? pretty slick phone-to-phone data sharing apphttp://www.hoccer.comoh and what happened to the 'Downloads' section in the App Market? On my Evo it's been replaced by 'Sprint' tab. WTF? How am I supposed to update apps now?]
