A 32gb iPhone would rock my mojo. My 16 gigger is almost full, mostly with music. For those of you who switched from 1st generation to 2nd generation....do you feel like you got screwed by AT&T, or do you feel like the money shift (getting gouged monthly instead of up-front) is worth it?
11/9/2008 4:18:35 AM
^^haha, i JUST downloaded that last night, it's fucking awesome^get Simplify Media and Pandora. you won't ever run out of music.
11/9/2008 2:37:57 PM
if you guys don't mind me asking, how much are your monthly cellphone bills with the iphone?
11/10/2008 1:56:32 PM
i think $100 ish
11/10/2008 2:11:34 PM
i got unlimited texting and it's around 100 a month..i barely use any minutes so i got the 450 minutes and never use hardly any of them. sucks it's that much but it's worth it to me
11/10/2008 2:11:59 PM
not exactly sure, as i don't pay for itbut i'd imagine it's somewhere in the neighborhood of $100/mo
11/10/2008 2:15:51 PM
see that's the thing. I barely use my minutes either. I think I have upwards of 4000 rollover minutes this cycle. I have at&t also, and have a grandfathered plan (cingular circa 2001) that has unlimited n&w which skews that a little more. But right now i pay roughly 70 bucks a month. I have a good phone, but its nothing special. SE W580i which is a walkman and i use that quite often aswell as basic apps like email, aim, and basic internet (sports scores, movie times, weather). I don't know anyone that i see on a regular basis with an iPhone to play with it long enough to know if i'd truely use it to it's $100/month price tag.
11/10/2008 4:05:58 PM
I usually pay ~$100-~$150 month but thats only because I make a lot of international calls to Germany and Egypt from my cell since I don't have a land line. i also have the 450 min / unlimited text plan and never go over my minutes.
11/10/2008 4:14:49 PM
About $85 for the 450 minutes plan with the 200 text messages package. And it seems totally worth it considering all the use I get out of this phone.
11/10/2008 4:45:21 PM
My cell phone bill is $66.50 a month.
11/10/2008 9:16:28 PM
11/10/2008 9:48:24 PM
i used 600+ text messages last month hahaha. So i'd have to have the 1500 packageI'm thinking about it. I just upgraded and extended my contract last christmas so i'm not sure if I qualify yet.
11/10/2008 10:11:47 PM
best $1.99 i ever spenthttp://www.pangeasoft.net/iphone/enigmo/index.html

^that game is so much fun, but Galcon is the best game hands down. Only game that offers 4-player online play and ranks. It's incredibly addicting.
11/10/2008 11:19:02 PM
I downloaded Enigmo awhile ago and loved it. I played it all the time for awhile til i beat it. Right now I'm paying Lux Touch all the time.
11/11/2008 3:18:54 AM
i have yet to pay for an iphone app. i know as soon as i do it once, i'll just keep buying crap i don't needit's the cable porn syndrome
11/11/2008 8:14:33 AM
can someone explain the apps to me?especially ones you see on the commercials like urban spoon. do you have to pay to download these and then pay monthly to use them?what about the music ID app?that's why i never use my current phone to its ability. i dont want to download an app for 4 bucks then have to pay 4 bucks a month to use it.
11/11/2008 9:29:09 AM
^I have yet to see an app that costs per month. And I think the way it is setup they may be able to charge you for updates, but I haven't seen apps do that either.
11/11/2008 9:51:35 AM
yeah, i also have not heard of an app that charges a subscription fee, although they may be out there (or they may be coming). I'm not sure if that is even a capability built into the iPhone App Store system - i.e. if an application did want to charge a subscription fee, then I think the developer of that app would have to set up his own way of charging and collecting the money, then enabling/disabling your access to the service. Even that, though, might be disallowed by the iPhone application terms of service So, for now, you can pretty much assume that the only cost for any of the apps is the price you pay to download it from the App Store
11/11/2008 10:03:29 AM
yeah i don't think the apps themselves can have anything other than flat free pricing, but access to the services an app developer provides in conjunction with an iphone app is of course not controlled by apple. for instance, the Remember The Milk app i believe is only useful if you have a premium paid account with RTM
11/11/2008 10:14:47 AM
Enigmo kept me un-bored at work today, so I am very happy for the suggestion. Keep 'em coming!

still no comments from anyone on Lux Touch?i <3 risk and play this game all the time.. plus it's free
11/13/2008 2:05:17 PM
Is the minimum plan for AT&T seriously $70 for 450 minutes? That seems kind of ridiculous. What's the voice coverage like for this area? I'm considering an iPhone, but paying more than I already do on Verizon seems kind of retarded.
11/13/2008 3:36:41 PM
Are "real" games ever going to come to the iphone/ipod touch? I mean there's quite the variety of games, and even some big name games like Crash Bandicoot and Spore, but they're all short segmented versions of larger games. Are we ever going to see full-length games like on the DS or PSP? There's no space limitation and the hardware is there. Has the SDK just not been out long enough?
11/13/2008 4:03:39 PM

crash bandicoot rally or whatever its called it the most awesomenest game.
11/13/2008 4:28:29 PM
call me an iphone n00b...i'm considering getting one and i need some information- what should i do as soon as i get home from the store, if i get one? should i jail break it? should i leave it alone? is this something most people do? how does it affect updates and such? what's the point to it? sorry for the "beginner" questions- i'm just not sure where to start.where is the best place to buy screen protectors and cases? i imagine they're pretty overpriced at the apple or at&t stores.
11/14/2008 6:44:24 PM
If I get an email with a word or excel file attachment, how do I save that to someplace on the iphone? I'd like to be able to pull them back up w/o opening the email or attach it to other emails. i'm unsure if I can even do that..
11/15/2008 12:34:37 PM
not natively. You cannot access the iPhone file system directly, and have to go through Applications. Seems like there are some applications that allow you to view the file system, but that may be only on Jailbroken phones
11/15/2008 12:41:25 PM
yeah as far as i know it's only on jailbroken phones.. you can't save or edit attachments (with the except of maybe pictures--which are savable)
11/15/2008 1:07:14 PM
well damn that sucksthat needs to change
11/15/2008 3:31:40 PM
agreed
11/15/2008 3:36:46 PM
I can pretty much guarantee you that Apple will eventually open email up to application integration. Once you have that, people can release word processors and spreadsheet editors that are useful
11/16/2008 7:15:11 AM
yeah, well i was kind of wondering which will come first - i.e. will there be a Word/Excel application first but no way to open those documents, or will they open up the file system but then you have nothing to do with the files?to address the gripe overall, Apple has clearly decided that they don't want a Finder/Explorer-like system with the iPhone, in that they feel it should not be necessary for people to go file-hunting through their home directory. Everything on the phone should be accessible through an Application, and where appropriate, the Applications should work together (like how Photos can be shared between Mail and the picture App). Maybe instead of opening up the file system, they will open up some more hooks into the default applications, so a Word viewer/editor can scan Mail and find and .doc files to open. But then I guess there's the question of where to save the files.... they probably shouldn't rely too much on Mail being used as an organizational tool

11/19/2008 12:02:58 PM
So I dropped my iPhone today and the top button is half stuck under the bezel. Any chance it would be covered under Apple Care or how expensive it will be to fix?
11/19/2008 12:53:12 PM
AppleCare doesn't cover things when you drop them. I found that out the hard way with my macbook.
11/19/2008 3:26:26 PM
so when im listening to pandora and wanna rate/skip a song, if the screen is locked sometimes when i swipe to unlock it takes me to the home screen and shuts pandora down. anyone else notice this behavior? it seems like it just started happening in the last 2 weeks or so...
