Getting real dark in E. Cary. And I'm not talking about my new neighbors.

Okay, it doesn't want to play nice. We managed to get a huge dust storm here in Okie out of the system you all are seeing now.

There is indeed a severe thunderstorm off Kaplan.

It's weird because if this had happened tomorrow I would have said, "Eh, March does have a lot of rain and shit," but because it's happening today I'm all AHHH FUCK THUNDERSTORMS IN FEBRUARY IT'S THE END TIMES!!!11one

two bands setting up across the county. Shouldn't be severe, but a nice downpour doesn't hurt since it's been so dry.

"DAY 1 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
1151 PM CST WED MAR 09 2011

VALID 101200Z - 111200Z

...THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS TODAY ACROSS THE MID ATLANTIC COAST STATES...

...SYNOPSIS...
A VIGOROUS SHORT WAVE IMPULSE...WHICH HAS EMERGED FROM A STRONG MID LATITUDE PACIFIC JET...IS CURRENTLY APPROACHING THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST COAST. THIS FEATURE IS PROGGED TO CONTINUE RAPIDLY INLAND ACROSS THE NORTHERN INTERMOUNTAIN REGION AND ROCKIES TODAY THROUGH EARLY FRIDAY...FLATTENING THE BROADER SCALE WESTERN U.S. RIDGE...AND CONTRIBUTING TO A MORE ZONAL UPPER FLOW AS FAR EAST AS THE PLAINS BY THE END OF THE FORECAST PERIOD. AS THIS OCCURS...THE UPPER TROUGH NOW AMPLIFYING SOUTHEASTWARD INTO THE TENNESSEE VALLEY AND EASTERN GULF STATES APPEARS LIKELY TO REMAIN PROGRESSIVE.

MODELS INDICATE THAT THE PRIMARY SHORT WAVE IMPULSE EMBEDDED WITHIN THIS LATTER FEATURE WILL BEGIN LIFTING OUT OF THE SOUTHEAST...ACROSS AND TO THE LEE OF THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS DURING THE DAY TODAY. THE SYSTEM IS PROGGED TO TAKE ON AN INCREASING NEGATIVE TILT ORIENTATION AS IT DOES...WITH DOWNSTREAM MID/UPPER FLOW BECOMING INCREASINGLY DIFLUENT AND DIVERGENT...SUPPORTING SIGNIFICANT SURFACE CYCLOGENESIS NEAR THE CENTRAL APPALACHIANS INTO
PARTS OF THE UPPER OHIO VALLEY AND LOWER GREAT LAKES REGION.

...MID ATLANTIC COAST STATES...
QUITE A BIT OF UNCERTAINTY EXISTS CONCERNING POTENTIAL FOR SUBSTANTIVE DESTABILIZATION TODAY...WITH CONSIDERABLE EARLY DAY CLOUD COVER AND AREAS OF PRECIPITATION HINDERING DAYTIME HEATING ...AND BOUNDARY LAYER MOISTENING RATHER MODEST IN THE WAKE OF THE COLD SURFACE RIDGE NOW SHIFTING AWAY FROM THE ATLANTIC SEABOARD. HOWEVER...MODELS ARE SIMILAR IN SUGGESTING THAT AN AREA OF STRONG SURFACE PRESSURE FALLS WILL DEVELOP ACROSS THE PIEDMONT OF NORTH
CAROLINA BY MIDDAY...BEFORE SHIFTING NORTHWARD TO THE LEE OF THE VIRGINIA BLUE RIDGE THIS AFTERNOON. THIS IS EXPECTED TO BE COINCIDENT WITH A STRENGTHENING SOUTHERLY LOW-LEVEL JET /IN EXCESS OF 50 KT AT 850 MB/...AND PROVIDE A FOCUS FOR AT LEAST WEAK BOUNDARY LAYER DESTABILIZATION. GIVEN EXPECTED SURFACE DEW POINTS IN THE MID/UPPER 50S...THE LACK OF STRONGER SURFACE HEATING COULD ACTUALLY ENHANCE THE RISK FOR TORNADOES...BY MAINTAINING HIGH BOUNDARY LAYER RELATIVE HUMIDITIES. FORECAST HODOGRAPHS BECOME QUITE FAVORABLE FOR TORNADIC SUPERCELLS... LARGE AND CLOCKWISE CURVED IN LOW-LEVELS...BENEATH INCREASINGLY STRONG WIND FIELDS AT MID AND UPPER LEVELS. WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY FOR THIS THREAT APPEARS GREATEST NEAR/WEST OF RALEIGH NC INTO AREAS WEST OF RICHMOND VA DURING THE 16-22Z TIME FRAME."

How big is the hail? No one on my NWS Chat has said anything about hail size in Wake County.
