https://247sports.com/Article/NC-State-football-Optimism-remains-high-for-Wolfpack-after-1-1-start-171052926/Amp/?__twitter_impression=trueA somewhat positive/optimistic spin on the rest of the season/schedule for State. tldr; yeah we lost but the rest of the teams on the schedule look worse than anticipated so we should still be able to get to 8 wins.

Yea i think we are a good team. I also think we beat Clemson in 2 weeks.
9/16/2021 10:49:51 AM
We couldn't beat a Miss State team we were favored over and didn't even threaten at all. No chance we beat Clemson. We will be -17 dogs. After what I saw, losing Fagan and Wilson, I think we are going 6-6 maybe 7-5. Sigh.
9/16/2021 1:00:05 PM
Take away two flukes and a bad decision and the score looks much better, so I think "didn't threaten" is an overstatement. That said I agree our offense looked pretty bad. Everybody has been on leary but our lack of a run game is pretty worrying. If Leary is mediocre as well clemson may hold us under 200 yds.

Yeah the failure to convert was a major factor. The full MSST game has been posted online so I'll re-watch and see if my Leary take was bad or not. I'm willing to suffer for science It'll probably be Monday/Tuesday before I get to it though

Is this some g league shit? Are we that bad now like they give us nobodys that we still lose to? Wtf. We better win like 45-10
9/18/2021 5:09:31 PM
5-8-4 all time vs Furman. No NC State coach has ever beaten Furman twice. Can Doeren become the first? He already owns the largest the margin of victory vs Furman in Wolfpack history (49-16, 2017).
9/18/2021 5:15:32 PM
wow at the all-time stat, i would've never guessed
9/18/2021 6:21:23 PM
Most of those were pre WW2. Although they did beat us twice in the 80s (Sheridan was at Furman then)

That is the Leary we need to see. Looked totally different from last week. I wonder if receivers just weren’t open against SEC defenders?
9/19/2021 7:52:48 AM
Competition is a big part of it, I’m sure. Secondary was Miss State’s strength. Having time in the pocket helps for sure too. Not sure he’ll have much time next week vs Clemson.
9/19/2021 9:21:52 AM
It’s too bad Clemson had their WTF game against GT
9/19/2021 10:33:56 AM
Idk i think their offensive line kinda sucks
9/19/2021 11:11:32 AM
Yeah I think Clemson is significantly worse than previous seasons. They’ll still be big favorites and should still run the table in the acc. But I think there’s a big difference between this year’s team and the last 3+ teams they’ve had.

I said it before and I'll say it again. We beat Clemson on SA TA DAY.

9/20/2021 10:02:42 AM
Clemson is 10 point favorites.
9/20/2021 11:46:55 AM
I think we should consider losing to Clemson. If we beat them then it doesn’t count as a good win because Clemson will suck. If we lose….then they’re good again and it’s a quality loss.

This is the correct mindset

They are allowed in general per NCAA rules as long as they stop when play is imminent, but local fields make their own rules about it. Carter Finley expressly prohibits themhttps://emas.ncsu.edu/pfs/pfw-terms-policies/[Edited on September 21, 2021 at 12:56 PM. Reason : e]

It seems like MSU's entire crowd having cow bells could be a pretty big home advantage
9/21/2021 1:34:49 PM
I remember when they gave out those stupid thundersticks back in the mid-00s, breaking their own rules on artificial noisemakers.I am glad that fad passed on by.
9/21/2021 1:53:54 PM
The cowbells are something people have complained about for years. They started trying to play nice some time around the 2010s iirc ... they ask fans to "ring responsibly" and only use them during dead time or else the school can get fined/team can be penalized. Doesn't always happen though[Edited on September 21, 2021 at 2:46 PM. Reason : r]
9/21/2021 2:45:48 PM
The only time they aren't "allowed" to use them is when the play is actually ongoing. They are supposed to stop when the center is on the ball, but LOL.Also, the SEC is never going to fine them for breaking that rule in a non-conference game. They might if it happens against bama.

Ok, here's my final analysis of Leary's passing in the Mississippi State. I'll preface this by saying I'm not analyzing his reads, and that I can't see the defense. This is purely a judgment of his ball placement on the throws he chose to make.Leary was 30/49 with one interception, which isn't a bad stat in and of itself. And overall I don't have any major issues with his performance, just a few concerns.First, I'll note that of his 19 incompletions, I can forgive 8 of them easily. 8 were totally on Leary, leaving 3 that were toss ups. He had 8 throws (3 incompletions) that I thought were really good (either good placement, or a good decision), and 13 that I thought were bad decisions (9 incompletions, 1 fumble), the rest were ok. You can see my breakdown of passes below. Time stamp references this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0B7czshqLXUOf our deep passes (10+ yards), measured from line of scrimmage to receiver location, out of 17 we had 11 fall incomplete, with only 4 being Leary's fault and 3 being totally not his fault. Not great numbers.A few final things worth mentioning:First, Mississippi State's pass defense will probably be better than most of the teams we play this season outside of Clemson. So while it is a bit of a bad game to use it's a better measuring stick than USF or Furman.Second, you can see 9-or-10 of MSST's defenders inside the camera view for nearly every play. That means they're almost always playing cover 1 or cover 2 defenses. I didn't mark it down but it seemed to be predominantly single high with man coverage. Which means either they didn't respect our deep ball or new their secondary could out-physical us. Finally, the good news: I did see a lot of good. He didn't often telegraph his throw well ahead of time. Though he made a few bad throws into tight coverage or bad placements, overall, not a bad performance and it's something that can improve. Being that it was his first game against a real defense in over a year, I'm willing to forgive him.Hope things are cleaned up in time for Clemson.

That’s the most in-depth analysis TWW has ever seenTo me, throwing nearly 50 times is the biggest issue. But that’s because we couldn’t run the ball and couldn’t stay ahead of the chains. Accuracy and decision making are important. But if we can run the ball and get into non-obvious passing downs, it should open things up for Leary too. That’s not gonna be easy against Clemson. They haven’t allowed a TD all season.

Thanks, I appreciate it ^^Yeah that's definitely the worst run pass balance we've had. On the season we're closer to 60/40 run/pass
