^excuse me but this is the thread police. I find you guilty of posting about a topic in a thread where there is another topic. Punishment is kudos from all except tgl. Do you accept these terms?

DING DONG RICHARDS IS GONE

GTFO!

I haven't watched a single episode after Trebek died and have limited opinions on this except to say that the entire civilized world seems to be in favor of LeVar Burton and every second that passes without him being host is affront to humanity.
9/1/2021 9:50:55 AM
Not me. I'm for Ken Jennings.
9/1/2021 12:04:35 PM
"Nothing sadder than a hot person in a wheelchair"
9/1/2021 12:31:58 PM
He already went through the wringer over that. Disability IS sad regardless of one's appearance.
9/1/2021 12:38:43 PM
But he's friends with bean dad
9/1/2021 1:01:00 PM
I don't want Levar Burton and honestly I don't know if he really wants it. It is a ton of pressure for someone that doesn't really live in the limelight anymore. Ken would not be bad. It really doesn't matter who they get, whoever the permanent host is will be compared to Alex and will not live up to expectations. The new host will have a short honeymoon phase and then the viewership will fall off.
9/1/2021 1:09:59 PM
I really liked Alex, but I honestly don't care too much about the host (as long as they're not super-annoying). I'm there for the trivia.
9/1/2021 1:22:18 PM
Same.

9/8/2021 3:13:25 PM
^So who would be your own preference at this stage?
9/8/2021 5:11:31 PM
Former champion and guy who definitely wants to be host Buzzy Cohen would be a very solid choice and would probably start off stronger than Burton, but I'd be very happy with either. No doubt there are many others who would be good, but among the guest hosts who would plausibly take on the job, either of them would be my choice.
9/13/2021 1:06:54 PM
I found that guy to be kinda annoying
9/13/2021 1:27:27 PM
Was it the glasses?
9/13/2021 2:22:56 PM
Ken & Blossom, at least through 2021
9/16/2021 1:13:42 PM
Ugh blossom
9/16/2021 4:58:46 PM
Go, Ken! He doesn't need any Neuriva.
9/16/2021 6:51:13 PM

This one goes out to GrumpyGOP:I heard the Greg Kihn Band song "Jeopardy" on the commute home on Friday and thought of the Weird Al -y, and then of you. You did TWW proud, though!GG!]

Also, I just learned this:Thanks, Al!]

Hard to believe it aired six years ago. Obviously getting married and the birth of my kid are much bigger deals for me, but the days those things actually happened were mostly characterized by stress and exhaustion. For pure, unadulterated joy on one day, the day I won Jeopardy! probably still takes the cake.
6/10/2024 10:45:18 AM
Probably covered further back in the thread, but was the day you won and the day you lost the same (filming) day?Do you have a downloaded copy of the episode where you won?]
6/10/2024 11:16:23 AM
^^I assume you are on some of the former contestant forums. Have they ever gone back to the screen test mock game tryout format or is it all still virtual now? It seems in a post Alex/COVID era the contestant quality is kind of lacking, and wondering if the audition process change is part of the reason.
6/11/2024 2:55:52 PM
I don’t know that I’d say that the contestant quality has gone downI think it’s more that the quality of the champions has gone up
6/11/2024 4:03:45 PM
They weren't the same filming day. They do five games a day, two days a week (I think Wednesday and Thursday). The game I won was the last tape filmed on that Thursday, so I had to fly back to DC, work Friday and Monday, and fly back to LA on Tuesday. They didn't pay for the flights my first day, but they did pay to fly me back out, which was nice. Those few days probably contributed to my ultimate defeat, because I had time to really let the win go to my head. The first game my attitude was, "I'm not gonna win but it will be cool to be on the show." By the next Wednesday, I was convinced I was a champion in the making. This left me mentally ill-prepared to fall behind, and having done so, I made bad choices.
6/12/2024 11:48:17 AM
^^ Thats also a fair assumption.Ken has definitely gotten better, but yes Alex will never be replaced.
6/12/2024 3:05:15 PM
Unpopular opinion, probably, but I like Ken better than Alex. Alex seemed like a pompous turd during taping breaks at the college tournament in Raleigh. Made me stop watching for several years. Ken has the chops, and I respect that. Thanks for the background / refresher, GrumpyGOP. For me, it was one of TWW's proudest moments!
6/12/2024 3:12:39 PM
Yeah, he rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. It's true he did make fun of me a little bit, you can see it in the episode. One of the categories was about things with "Day" or "Night" in the title, and the Daily Double question was about a book by Kazuo Ishiguro. I'd never heard that name before in my life, so I sputtered "Day of the...Samurai?"Well apparently Ishiguro lived in the UK since he was 8 and the book was "The Remains of the Day." Alex gave the correct answer and said, very condescendingly, "Good guess, though." But he was trying to be funny and frankly it kind of was. I don't fault him that.
