a lot of shooting ranges are indoor, it doesn't matter what side of the gun you are standing on

that mentality right there is why Congress manages to turn everything they do into a colossal clusterfuck.
10/6/2017 3:17:36 PM
^congress turns everything into a clusterfuck because they are financially backed by powerful special interests that have trained you to think that knowing the decibel level of a gun makes you an expert on public policy.
10/6/2017 3:26:20 PM
only scientists in congress!
10/6/2017 4:19:30 PM
there needs to be a Sciencw branch of government. in an ideal world, tgat would be the supreme court. let the house be common folk and require senators have a phd.
10/6/2017 4:41:38 PM
Worrying about supressors is the kind of nonsense that prevents us from having discussions about things that will make us safer and reduce gun deaths, it's similar to including barrel shrouds in the AWB. You don't need to be an expert with guns, but you should listen to people who have an operating knowledge of them.[Edited on October 6, 2017 at 4:58 PM. Reason : .]
10/6/2017 4:57:41 PM
a large percentage of guns deaths that arent suicide be people shooting each other over illegal drug trafficking. i suggest ending the war on drugs[Edited on October 6, 2017 at 5:18 PM. Reason : plus its racist as hell]
10/6/2017 5:15:50 PM
the people in this thread who have a "operating knowledge" of guns are the same people that hijack every policy debate about guns and try to drown out meaningful conversation with a sea of banality that revolves around the most boring technical details imaginable.Liberals fall for this trap, over, and over, and over again, and it's a large reason why they never get anything done of critical importance. Not just in this topic, but in most topics. They get sidetracked with the myriad layers of mostly byzantine details. Instead of having the balls to make a moral argument with ambitious vision, they try to compromise with a side that creates a ridiculous set of rules in order to narrow the scope of debate. We can't have comprehensive healthcare reform because we can't reverse the corporate structural inertia that was created to maximize profitsWe can't regulate Wall Street because the complex financial systems put into place have thoroughly seeped into an artificial corporate bureaucracy that has somehow justified its own existenceAnd we can't regulate gun ownership because eleusis can't be bothered to buy earmuffs
10/6/2017 5:21:28 PM
I'm confused, are you saying I'm not liberal or that I'm not in favor of gun control.Because I'm an extreme of both of those, worring about suppressors is silly in general and is incredibly dumb when you think of the political capital required for additional controls.
10/6/2017 5:34:09 PM
I'm saying narrowly focusing the debate around the rules set forth by your adversary is stupid, especially when that person is negotiating in bad faith. People like eulesis are purposefully inserting overly complicated details into the discussion in order to avoid a larger, more fundamental policy discussion. He knows that if he tries to make a "tyrannical government" argument, that he'll be exposed for a fucking fraud in a heartbeat. So he has to pivot the discussion around pointless details in order to avoid defending his empty ideological position.
10/6/2017 5:41:00 PM
^^^ Ive been saying this and liberals like ujustwait dtownral and nym410 are disgusted by this type of ideology. They say its "divisive" "purist" and even "anarchist". They actually believe starting from a position of comprimise is tge only way to govern and that accepting a tiny creep in "progress" makes them progressive. They just want politicians to "accomplish" something so they can pat themselves on the back no matter how trivial or minute said "accomplishments" are.
10/6/2017 6:10:02 PM
I own plenty of earmuffs and multiple suppressors. I use them both in conjunction, because they work well together. I want them to be easier to get so that more people will own and use them at the range. The fact that you can't even talk objectively about things like suppressors around here without hysteria is why people like me insist on shitting up any discussion that arises regarding gun control. There is absolutely no reason for us to have a discussion about compromising gun rights, because we constantly get asked to give something up but never get offered anything back in return.
10/6/2017 7:21:05 PM
Aww, you poor victimized gun owner. Must be such a miserable life to constantly worry about having your guns taken away from you.
10/6/2017 7:26:06 PM
^^this isnt about you. how could you be so selfish to value your hobby over thousands of lives.
10/6/2017 7:33:35 PM
I count my blessings everyday that I was lucky enough to be born in a country smart enough to have the bill of rights and not in some socialized shithole that realized they can take away any rights they dam well please once the guns are gone.

My bad. 7x more homicides. 25x more gun homicides. The point still stands even though I misspoke.

There are all kinds of specific feature regulations for automobiles, especially about safety
10/7/2017 7:17:38 AM
there's nothing in the Bill of Rights expressly stating that car rights shall not be infringed. even still, car safety laws and emissions requirements pass through multiple layers of experts for evaluation of feasibility and economic impact before they get finalized.
10/7/2017 7:52:37 AM
regulation is not unconstitutional, this has been upheld by multiple court decisionsbut if you want to go back to the nonsense "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" argument we can make fun of you again
10/7/2017 8:06:33 AM
We didn’t have cars when the constitution was written. We also didn’t have semi automatic weapons.
10/7/2017 9:29:18 AM
A WELL REGULATED militia. If you're going to go back to the "shall not be infringed" argument, you might want to include the ENTIRE amendment.[Edited on October 7, 2017 at 10:23 AM. Reason : herp derp derp, "shall not be infringed." herp derp derp, "jumbo jets are very loud." herp derp]

10/9/2017 12:06:07 PM
So has the conspiracy theory that gun companies orchestrated the shooting so that their stocks and sales would go up been floated out there yet? Where's Alex Jones on this one?
10/9/2017 12:14:01 PM
The folks who run that shop are assholes.
10/9/2017 1:38:25 PM
I’m sure this is off topic but I think anyone wanting to find a motive here is going to be disappointed. Sometimes humans malfunction and this guy seems to be the perfect example..
10/9/2017 1:57:16 PM
10/9/2017 2:07:14 PM
I think he decided to commit suicide, which gives him a "no consequences" window to let loose his gun obsession. I suspect he also wanted to die in a shoot out with the police, to impress them and feel alive at the same time. Of course, after the cops arrived and trapped him in the room, he was left all alone, holding a gun on the door, gradually becoming depressed as an hour passed and the cops just waited for the SWAT team. I'm sure he didn't enjoy it as much as he thought he would, probably realized even this event wasn't enough to make him feel anything. As that realization sank in, he gave up on the game and finally killed himself like he had been trying to do for years.
10/9/2017 3:49:11 PM
^that's pretty much the conclusion I've come to with this guy. a person that knew him claimed he took to the roof of an apartment complex he owned during the LA riots with a rifle and a flak jacket, but he didn't bother to wear body armor for this event? He had no intentions of getting out alive.
10/9/2017 4:16:01 PM
now they're saying that the security guard was shot 6 minutes before he started shooting from the windows
10/9/2017 6:40:52 PM
^That’s strange… wondering if the hotel was trying to avoid visible police presence?
10/9/2017 7:07:52 PM
You don't get this kind of thing wrong by accident. The videos they won't show us are timestamped. They knew immediately when this guy was shot and told us something different for a week.
10/9/2017 7:12:20 PM
I thought they said he had some type of body armor in the hotel room(may have misheard that)? The sheriff also alluded to him having some sort of escape plan, I think.
10/9/2017 7:35:52 PM
I could see Paddock beating on the glass with that tiny sledgehammer to no avail, setting off some alarm in the building possibly, or his monkeying with the fire escapes beforehand tripping some alarm.. it's still really strange to be changing the official timeline of events a week later.
10/9/2017 10:03:32 PM
don't you say that. don't you dare cast any doubt on the police.
10/10/2017 3:02:46 AM
I feel sorry for the LVPD, having to be the scapegoat for the FBI in releasing information just so they can walk it back or apologize for leaks later on. they haven't been in charge of this investigation since day 1.
