And it shouldn't go up when rates go down. The Obama admin was trying to lessen the PMI burden to help those who want to get into the market.

I'm gonna disagree. Banks give you a loan and if they deem it a risk (putting down 12%) they make you pay insurance.

I don't think it's out of line or a deterrent. Buy a house that fits your budget and exists within the rules banks have put in place.

I read into this deeper and it only pertains to FHA loans and lessens the costs by $500 per year on a 200k loan.

While its kind of a dick move on trumps part, if $500 a year is preventing you from buying a house, maybe you should reconsider.
