Well our QBs are ranked 11th, so at least we've got that going for us
5/4/2016 10:14:43 AM
Our RBs being ranked 8th is comical.Dayes is arguably the 2nd most explosive runner in the ACC. Sure he was hurt last year, but he was putting up great numbers before he got hurt. And it's not like he tore an ACL or it's something that will effect him this year.I'd have Dayes as the #2 overall RB in the ACC heading into the season, but I can understand there are questions about his back-ups, but I think they should take into account how highly recruit/ranked Frasier was and also factor in the fact that Hines was playing some RB late last year.

I can't think of a better rb than dayes right off? I guess you could argue dalvin cook is better but who else?
5/4/2016 2:19:19 PM
Cook is clearly #1, and that isn't really disputable. When healthy, that kid is a Heisman contender. I'd take Dayes #2 over anyone else on the list. I mean I love Conner out of Pitt, but the kid is coming off some serious medical issues, so I couldn't rank him above Dayes until I see he's 100%. Hood looked OK at times last year but I'd still rather have Dayes given his all-around game. Dayes would have easily surpassed 1k rushing yards last season if he didn't get injured during the Clemson game, hell we were having plenty of success against Clemson with Dayes leading our attack. Big play potential, solid runner, great out of the backfield, and pretty good in pass pro. Like I said, if he's 100% like the coaches say, then I'd rank him #2. If you want to rank us overall lower because our back-ups don't have much experience, I get that, but no way we're 8th.
5/4/2016 2:51:22 PM
I'm just wondering how much of the difference is due to FSU having a much better offensive line. I'm not sure Dayes wouldn't do better if he played for florida state.

Im not saying hes not better but you are saying its not even close. If im wrong, im fine with that, but id like to hear a little bit about why cook is so clearly better. Just saying hes better is not an argument, its a claim. I understand cook had like 1600 yards but part of me thinks any back behind that line would have 1200+yards and that its hard to determine who is better between him and cook since dayes plays on a weaker team. Wasnt dayes shredding the clemson d before he got hurt?
5/4/2016 6:03:25 PM
Elijah Hood is better than Dayes
5/4/2016 6:36:34 PM
^
5/4/2016 6:38:00 PM
"shredding clemson" is probably an overstatement. he had one 40 yard run...and then about 30 yards on 8 carries outside of that. so he was playing well. but not shredding them.
5/4/2016 6:47:29 PM
Hood is a plodder, I think Dayes ability out of the backfield really sets him apart. Hood also benefited from the offense he was in. It's not like we had a wide-open passing attack to keep defenders out of the box.
5/4/2016 8:26:11 PM
we suck
5/4/2016 8:33:46 PM
senior OL Daris Workman and redshirt junior LB Artemis Robinson no longer on the roster
5/15/2016 9:02:06 PM
They've scheduled a pressed for tomorrow at 2: both will be taking time away from football to play for Gott on the bball team. #sources say more pt available with less practice time
5/15/2016 9:08:56 PM
^ and Workman was happy because he still wouldnt have to play defense
5/15/2016 9:40:27 PM
Meh, 2 players that weren't expected to be on the 2-deep chasing playing time elsewhere, not a big deal. Just frees up scholarships.
5/16/2016 8:45:53 AM
looks like that Boise St QB is officially enrolled at NC State
5/16/2016 9:44:34 AM
Whoa they kept that nice and quietHe has 2 years, thought he had one. [Edited on May 16, 2016 at 9:48 AM. Reason : Aa]
5/16/2016 9:48:06 AM
I thought both our guys were looking pretty good.
5/16/2016 9:55:07 AM
wow...weird that something like that would be so quiet.^yeah, i dunno...can never hurt to have more competition and good players on the roster, though
5/16/2016 10:37:45 AM
That tells you everything you need to know about how the other QB's are looking in practice
5/16/2016 11:50:24 AM
Awesome. Pete Thomas 2.0
5/16/2016 12:01:13 PM
well that is pretty harsh

My best friend follows Mountain West sports pretty closely and he said that Finley is terrible. The exact quote was "If he has a chance at starting for you guys, your team is fucked"
5/16/2016 12:44:21 PM
well...we've definitely got options for QB this season.if McLendon isn't the starter he very well may transfer. Myers is a redshirt freshman and this Boise St QB has at least 2 more years of eligibility left. total speculation on my part, but it would make sense.
5/16/2016 12:45:09 PM
I'm the resident expert on all things Boise State relatedthis dude sucksbut he's BFFs with Drinkwitz so that's a plus
5/16/2016 6:46:23 PM
im hoping its a situation where the guy wants to work his way into coaching and is sticking with drinkwitz for that.
5/16/2016 7:01:23 PM
Those RB rankings are laughable. The backfield is the only commendable thing this staff did in their tenure. Also, our QBs can't be no worst than Pete Thomas and co.
5/16/2016 7:27:49 PM
OH NO WE SUCK AGAIN
5/16/2016 7:48:42 PM
http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/15566856/ex-boise-qb-ryan-finley-headed-nc-state-graduate-transferHorrible stats in 3 games. I'm too lazy to look at who they played, but this is not encouraging.[Edited on May 16, 2016 at 10:15 PM. Reason : Just posting ESPN article, I know this is old news]
5/16/2016 10:14:27 PM
so if he sucks, he either 1) plays and we were fucked anyway or 2) doesnt play and we wasted 1 scholarshipnot a huge gamble either way.i suppose if matt mckay or another future recruit decides not to come b/c he is here, that would suck, but i think the coaches would stress that recruit would have a chance to start day 1.also, most freshman arent very good right off the bat, especially after not playing for an entire year. he's been in college 2 years and hurt 85% of that time. not sure we have a usable samplealso it is really easy to see who he played so you are very, very lazy http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/gamelog/_/id/546288/ryan-finleyWashington and BYU, both of whom were pretty good last year. Wash record wasnt good, but played welll against good Pac12 teams. He got hurt in the 3rd game[Edited on May 16, 2016 at 10:31 PM. Reason : a]

We have 3 guys now that can compete for the job. I think 2 are physically better, but 1 knows the offense. I think the staff knows they have to win THIS year. Think this was more about the coaches not trusting Parham to be our 3rd guy in case of an emergency.

^^it does though, a medical redshirt bumps it to 6 years to play 4 which would mean THREE years of eligibility, which opens the option of a redshirt year. [Edited on May 17, 2016 at 1:35 PM. Reason : Aaaaaaaaa]
5/17/2016 1:33:52 PM
i thought to get a 6th year, you had to miss two years due to injury rather than just 1 injury + 1 regular redshirt....or is he lobbying for a medical RS for last year in addition to a medical redshirt in his first year?[Edited on May 17, 2016 at 2:06 PM. Reason : f]
5/17/2016 2:04:55 PM
Good question, I think 30% of games is the limit and he played 3/12 so that probably is the case. His first redshirt was also an injury redshirt. So it he gets that, he would actually have three playable years left.
5/17/2016 2:46:14 PM
ok yeah, if his first redshirt was indeed a medical one (and assuming he gets a medical RS for last season) then the 3 years of eligibility would make sense.
5/17/2016 3:28:48 PM
in that quote from his dad I posted earlier, he says Finley has a "clean case" for a medical hardship for last year and a clock extension since he arrived on campus with an injury, which would give him 3 years. the release on GoPack says he'll have 2 years, though, so not sure if his dad was wrong or if they're still in the process of figuring out if he will have a 3rd
5/17/2016 5:34:19 PM
my guess is that he has 2 years until the extra year is officially granted...so it's probably just a matter of semantics on State's part by saying he has 2 years (even though, in all likelihood he'd have 3).
5/17/2016 5:55:25 PM
Waivers for a 6th year of eligibility are notoriously hard to get. Just having 2 injuries is hardly a clear cut case, especially since one wasn't an injury he sustained in college. I just think it's not a foregone conclusion that he will have 3 years. Also, im not goyea get excited about a guy who threw more ints than tds against lesser competition.
5/17/2016 6:09:51 PM
Doren is averaging 6 wins a year, I think fan expectations are high this year in year four as they are for all fourth year coaches. By year four I say shoot for the stars my friend, you need one of the best seasons State has ever had. 7 wins or you are out buddy
5/18/2016 4:13:34 PM
As long as he isnt out raping anyone, he still has one up on certain sec schools
