Maybe it was the mood i was in or something, but from the sketches I caught, this seemed like one of the worst shows I've seen in a while: Kyle Mooney being a kid interviewing Dakota Johnson... Aidy Bryant with the broken arms... Worf in the emergency room... and I find Riblet annoying and unfunny, and I usually like Bobby Mohnihan's characters.
3/2/2015 9:42:44 AM
Are you leaving out the stronger material on purpose?
3/2/2015 9:48:25 AM
nah, i didn't watch the whole thing, maybe I just happened to catch all of the weak sketches.
3/2/2015 9:58:34 AM
Birdman opening was excellent as was the ISIS commercialthe rest was fine. I feel confident in saying Dakota Johnson won't be the next big thing in Hollywood. she was just kinda there.
3/2/2015 12:10:49 PM
That was the worst monologue I can recall. It's one thing to swing for the fences and miss horribly, but she didn't even swing.
3/2/2015 12:22:36 PM
I liked this episode, and Sasheer Zamata is hotIggy Azalea sketch was good. Ex-porn actors are always good[Edited on March 8, 2015 at 11:46 AM. Reason : ]

Hemsworth was the opposite of Dakota Johnsonhe was great and game
3/8/2015 4:12:09 PM
^i didn't even know who the guy was, but he was great

Emily the chicken. Lost it.
3/8/2015 9:16:05 PM
Episode was kinda ho-hum for me, as a whole.I thought the chicken skit was pretty lame until Hemsworth started interacting directly with the chicken, then I lost it. Iggy skit was strong, esp with McKinnon's Iggy-like rapping skills. Update appears to be coming together nicely for me. The pileup on the guy saying homesexuality is a choice, was particurally hialrious, and I liked Leslie Jones' appearance more than I did before.and damn I wasn't prepared for the Zac Brown Band's 2nd song with Chris Cornell. pretty badass.[Edited on March 9, 2015 at 10:37 AM. Reason : Zac Brown's eyebrows freak me out though]
3/9/2015 10:31:41 AM
i just don't find Jones or Bryant funny, at all, really.(and it's not because I don't think women aren't funny, because i like most of the other ladies, especially McKinnon and Strong)
3/9/2015 10:47:09 AM
Everything on that show felt 80% finished. Nothing remarkable, though I like how they went to the wall with the jokes in the Brecky bit. Hemsworth was game but "I'm handsome" is not a joke, let alone one to base multiple sketches on. Chicken bit was insane for a pre-midnight sketch. Zac Brown wears nice guy hats.
3/9/2015 1:02:53 PM
Jones is horrible...although she's better Zamata, but Zamata is damn fine to look at, so she gets a pass.McKinnon, Strong, and Bayer are all great. Bryant is good, but at a level below them and not as diverse. McKinnon was phenomenal as Iggy. The penis bit (and the fuck-up) on the Weekend Update was hilarious.[Edited on March 9, 2015 at 1:21 PM. Reason : .]
3/9/2015 1:19:20 PM
^^^^ Yeah Zac Brown band has kind of an image as the same type of Bro-country as people like Florida Georgia Line and Luke Bryan, and I can't say it isn't earned because they do have several songs like that, but they have way more potential than that.
3/10/2015 1:08:35 AM
who is George Ezra and is he better than Better Than Ezra?
3/13/2015 5:42:05 PM
^ i dug itKate McKinnon's Robert Durst was so awesome.
3/30/2015 12:13:02 PM
i hate when a guy puts his name on the bass drum.Or when a guy names the band after himself.Just curious, does anyone know how they pick the musical guest? Maybe I'm not in the loop, but I've never heard of that guy.
3/30/2015 12:28:49 PM
I really liked The Rock's episode. Indiana Jones spoof, Robert Durst... awesome.
3/30/2015 3:02:45 PM
^^ They're booked like any other network TV musical guest, just with a little more discretion because of the high profile.I'd never heard of him, either, but his album was #1 in the UK and peaked at #19 here, so he's not a nobody.

my life needs way more of that British character Cecily Strong played
4/1/2015 10:23:16 PM
lil nibbles. Love Cecily...but that might have been the worst skit of the night. That being said, that was solid episode. The Rock is great.
4/2/2015 10:40:41 AM
that was a really, really good episode
4/5/2015 6:34:46 PM
4/5/2015 9:38:49 PM
Solid from start to finish.^hilarious ending sketch
4/6/2015 12:48:31 AM
I've gotten some good chuckles this episode[Edited on April 12, 2015 at 12:53 AM. Reason : Mumford and Sons is so terrible]
4/12/2015 12:36:53 AM
That felt like a Kate McKinnon episode as much as a Taraji Henson episode. Not that I'm complaining. Taraji did a really good job fitting in seamlessly with the cast.
4/12/2015 12:31:52 PM
the Vin Diesel impersonation was great[Edited on April 12, 2015 at 3:47 PM. Reason : as was most of that sketch]
4/12/2015 3:47:10 PM
Really?? I thought that whole episode was garbage...even the weekend update was weak. McKinnon and Strong were about the only positives from the episode...but even they couldn't carry crappy skits.
4/13/2015 3:04:28 PM
The Game Night sketch was pretty weak. I liked the League of Their Own bit but it pulled up just short of somewhere interesting. Good to see Hammond.
4/13/2015 5:27:27 PM
Yeah Game Night sucked this time, but I thought it was good when Blake Shelton hosted, which is why it was disappointing how bad it was.
4/13/2015 6:42:38 PM
4/24/2015 2:04:50 PM
those seem like pretty solid hosts
4/24/2015 2:28:48 PM
did Louis CK already host this year? not that i'd complain, he's great
4/24/2015 2:40:46 PM
nope, just appeared on the 40th Anniversary special
4/24/2015 2:54:04 PM
oh he hosted last year

No discussion of Louis CK? That was a pretty risque monologue.
5/19/2015 1:04:18 PM
he can pull it off
5/21/2015 6:05:41 PM
I may be one of the few people in America that doesn't particularly like Louis CK's stand-up. I get what he's doing...I just don't think he's that funny. Which means I thought his monologue sucked.I did, however, love Rihanna's first performance.
5/26/2015 1:48:19 PM
They added some cool 360-degree videos from the 40th Anniversary Special, where you can pan around the whole video. Pretty neat, like this onehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HS9h4xFRww
