I said "doesn't justify knocking her unconscious," but you'd be within your rights to hit her back.[Edited on September 8, 2014 at 2:55 PM. Reason : ]

the good thing is he didn't kill a dog. Shewwww.
9/8/2014 2:55:14 PM
I think you're wrong on this thing Astral...Her hitting him doesn't and will NEVER justify a man knocking his SOS or any woman unconcious. That's not defense...he is being offensive. You're wrong and condoning domestic abuse. You're saying a woman, no matter the circumstances, as soon as she throws a punch she should watch out because that's grounds to get her ass beat. That's exactly what you're saying...OHHH YOU DONE IT NOW WOMAN.[Edited on September 8, 2014 at 2:57 PM. Think she is regretting staying with him now that he will not get $Paid?

I generally take a neutral stance on "victim blaming" (there's some truth to not walking through bad neighborhoods, etc), but don't hit, spit on, choke out a woman no matter what. not even if it's Ronda Rousey "provoking" youthat said, I find it quite laughable that she married him anyhow. if she did it for the $laftabucks, sucks to be her.
9/8/2014 3:03:24 PM
Just want to make sure none of us are being sexist here, can we all agree that if a 5', 110 lb adult man hit Rice first, that Rice wouldn't have been justified in retaliating
9/8/2014 3:07:34 PM
Totally different situation.TOTALLY.That being said...that situation is STILL covered in the law. The law dropped the ball here, obviously, but still a different situation as defined by law.
9/8/2014 3:09:55 PM
The law did what it always does in a situation like this. He was a first time offender and the woman didn't want to prosecute. They pretty much followed protocol.
9/8/2014 3:32:56 PM
Gonna update this shit...I went back to 1990. Because I was bored at work and when I got going, it was kinda neat to go back through the old draft classes and stuff.
9/8/2014 3:53:22 PM
Someone tell the NFL they should create a public API to their massive records database.
9/8/2014 4:00:23 PM
pro-football-reference.com is pretty awesome. but it's not exhaustive dammit
9/8/2014 4:04:04 PM
9/8/2014 4:14:24 PM
^That's awesome man. Where'd you find that?So basically, if Trent Richardson maintains this pace of ~3.3 YPA for another few seasons he may pass Bill Brown as RB with most carries/fewest yards. lol.
9/8/2014 4:23:30 PM
^p-f-r, just gotta know how to work with the play index on their siteSince I'm already here...worst Y/A for RBs selected in the 1st round:Larry Stegent (8th overall in 1971 by St Louis Cardinals) - 0.0 in 0 attemptsLeo Hayden (24th overall in 1971 by Minnesota Vikings) - 1.38 in 8 attemptsJoe Marconi (6th overall in 1966 by Los Angeles Rams) - 1.67 in 3 attemptsHarry Jones (19th overall in 1967 by Philadelphia Eagles) - 1.93 in 44 attemptsDick Leftridge (3rd overall in 1966 by Pittsburgh Steelers) - 2.13 in 8 attemptsPhil King (12th overall in 1958 by New York Giants) - 2.35 in 17 attemptsTom Moore (5th overall in 1960 by Green Bay Packers) - 2.39 in 157 attemptsGeorge Amundson (14th overall in 1973 by Houston Oilers) - 2.62 in 74 attemptsPaul Hornung (1st overall in 1957 by Green Bay Packers) - 2.63 in 76 attemptsMike Hull (16th overall in 1968 by Chicago Bears) - 2.69 in 77 attemptsBill Thomas (26th overall in 1972 by Dallas Cowboys) - 2.77 in 13 attemptsThe aforementioned Michael Haddix (3.01 in 543 attempts, 66 more attempts than the above players combined for)

I've been punched by several women and never retaliated.
9/8/2014 4:35:44 PM
^^Cool. Looks like we've successfully answered TT10's question...and helped my Monday feel more productive than it actually was.
9/8/2014 4:37:47 PM
This isn't a "who got punched by the most women" contest. Because if it was, I would win. Like thousands of women.
9/8/2014 4:50:00 PM
technically she got punched, came at him, got punched again
9/8/2014 4:51:16 PM
My favorite was when I told this one wench no one would ever want to rape her.She got me pretty good under the chin.

I don't understand how the NFL is just now seeing the Ray Rice video. I saw it on TMZ or one of those hollywood news shows about 2 weeks ago.
9/8/2014 7:38:14 PM
Calvin Johnson...doing what Calvin Johnson does.
9/8/2014 7:38:21 PM
^^ no, you didn't[Edited on September 8, 2014 at 7:50 PM. Reason : I guess you don't realize that there are two videos?]
9/8/2014 7:43:52 PM
9/8/2014 7:55:58 PM
didn't realize there are (2) videos
9/8/2014 8:38:02 PM
Well apparently TMZ has proof that the Ravens and NFL have seen it before today and were aware of the video. This could be damning for Goodell.
9/8/2014 8:40:00 PM
not trying to be dramatic, but sometimes a wild punch can end everything. he's lucky he didn't kill her
9/8/2014 8:40:20 PM

the problem with getting rid of Goodell and thinking that's a cure all is the 32 owners will appoint another Goodell[Edited on September 8, 2014 at 9:51 PM. Reason : /]
9/8/2014 9:49:17 PM
Maybe someone should go into the MLB thread & question why they aren't discussing the Russia/Ukraine conflict more in that thread as well?
9/8/2014 9:50:41 PM
I don't actually believe they'll get rid of Goodell without smoking gun audiotape of him saying "these fucking fans, I do what I want" or something like that
9/8/2014 9:53:09 PM
why is the new Ray Rice video creating so much controversy? The video that came out immediately following the incident showed Rice dragging her limp body out of the elevator after having knocked her out inside the elevator. Did people not assume that Ray hit her pretty hard to knock her unconscious?
9/8/2014 9:57:43 PM
Somebody, not sure if it was Rice or his fiance/wife, claimed she was pushed and hit her head on the rail which knocked her out. Not that that was really believable, but it was the official defense story.
9/8/2014 9:59:53 PM
I could be wrong, but I thought the original story (that she willingly went along with) was that he barely hit her but she fell and hit her head on the railing. The second video is obviously much different.
9/8/2014 10:00:31 PM
This Berman/Dilfer broadcast is the stuff of legends.
9/8/2014 11:46:26 PM
Anyone still have the Rivers laser eyes/baby throwing/ducking gif?
9/9/2014 12:11:52 AM
Chargers could have used that game with the Seahawks coming up next. Not the best start to the season. Surprised at how good the Cardinals D looked given all that they're missing right now. On the plus side...I thought the Chargers D looked much better than last year.

I'd rather believe that than the other potential explanation: the Lions are actually good
9/9/2014 6:30:19 PM
AP reporting that the NFL had the video 3 months ago

he gone
9/10/2014 6:02:10 PM
So an anonymous officer claims he released the video to an anonymous NFL official?
9/10/2014 6:07:33 PM
AP is reporting it...seems like they'd be pretty damn credible.
