I hate Jamie Fuckie and the Karl Hess cabal, but is is the discrepancy because each ref is only on one side of the floor? I don't follow their movements on the court
1/29/2014 11:27:48 PM
Yeah but knowing a ref by name/appearance is a bad thing in general.[Edited on January 29, 2014 at 11:29 PM. Reason : something something]

The win was a win, and I liked it! As far as the foul business goes, the Internet says we got called for 19 fouls so I don't know how we could have been called for 22 by Luckie alone. However, I often read the Internet wrong. Plus, dude still sucks.^LOL, but I like Hamilton.[Edited on January 29, 2014 at 11:36 PM. Reason : -ie ]

if you go into anything thinking that someone is out to get you, your biases can't be confirmed after one thing that goes against youhave you ever thought that it is completely realistic that a vast majority of fouls that were called were legit fouls, regardless of who called them?there are always iffy calls during a game, and more often than not both teams benefit from them
1/29/2014 11:31:35 PM
So you're good with a 6:1 foul ratio?Because that's completely legit.
1/29/2014 11:32:56 PM
1/29/2014 11:34:25 PM
yeah, some rando tweeted that, not Giglio. We were called for 19 fouls.
1/29/2014 11:35:42 PM
I didn't chart every whistle, and I doubt you did eitherbut I don't recall multiple whistles that weren't the right calls
1/29/2014 11:36:19 PM
Fouls were 19-15, calm down
1/29/2014 11:37:34 PM
I get tired of the victim mentality our fanbase has w/r/t refs most of the time but Luckie absolutely has it out for us and was screwing us over today.
1/29/2014 11:39:06 PM
I mean our record with Luckie reffing games is pretty similar to the Spurs' record with Joey Crawford
1/29/2014 11:40:40 PM
everybody is calm....thegoodwife is the one riling everyone up.It was a physical game. Florida State is tall and long as fuck (do they have anyone on their team shorter than 6'5" w/o a long wingspan?? holy fuck) and they score in the paint. On our own court...we didn't get the benefit of the calls. It wasn't ridiculous...but an unbiased observer could see all of the late whistles and a few missed calls in the 2nd half. With that being said...they should have t-ed up Warren and that could have completely flipped the script. We should be happy...because the refs will probably ass rape us in Chapel Hill this weekend.
1/29/2014 11:42:53 PM
cool burn, broI'm just tired of people bitching about the refs [Edited on January 29, 2014 at 11:46 PM. Reason : you aren't even disagreeing with me]
1/29/2014 11:44:14 PM
save your white knighting the refs for when we lose...thats when I do it
1/29/2014 11:45:36 PM
Just to clear up for people that are confused on why they are saying 22 whistles and only 19 fouls. They mean overall calls; such as: travel, out of bounds, foul, 3 seconds, etc.[Edited on January 29, 2014 at 11:47 PM. Reason : ]
1/29/2014 11:47:15 PM
I think Warren might be one of those players who gets the benefit of the doubt on technicals. It's a very foreign thing for us, and I'd like see him take full advantage. Also, I don't add a lot to the conversation here so I just want to make sure that everyone knows that I was the first to look up the actual foul totals. And I had to do it really fast so I wouldn't get outposted. Big win for me tonight.[Edited on January 29, 2014 at 11:50 PM. Reason : ^Man, I never get anything right.]
1/29/2014 11:47:52 PM
all I did was point out the absurdity of people complaining about the refs after a winand I prefer to keep things consistent, win or loss
1/29/2014 11:48:07 PM
That motherfucker taped "KH" on his shoes. Doesn't need a conspiracy theory to realize that he will fuck with us for eternity. Should have added him and Mike Eades along with KH to the list of refs banned from doing our games.[Edited on January 29, 2014 at 11:48 PM. Reason : ]
1/29/2014 11:48:11 PM
^4 makes more sense, although that's sad that someone kept track of that. Didn't really see any out-of-bounds or traveling calls that were arguable other than one.
1/29/2014 11:53:14 PM
Regardless of the refs, this team is infinitely more enjoyable to watch than last year. Glad to get that win at home
1/29/2014 11:59:07 PM
if you were at the game, you would know how bad the officiating was. There were multiple questionable calls. Also, what was the TJ-FSU altercation about?
1/30/2014 12:10:35 AM
^^Infinitely? Despite frustrating losses, last year had some fun stuff. I keep trying to write a post about it, but it reads too much like a love letter to Scott Wood.

I'm sorry, I should have added an "especially" before "after a win"
1/30/2014 12:57:34 AM
They blow the whistle for more than just fouls. I assume that count is for all whistles, not just fouls. From being at the game and watching Luckie, I'd say that number is probably pretty close. I was shocked when he actually did call a few in our favor, especially that charge Tyler drew toward the end. Also not calling the tech on TJ was very lenient of them.Anyway, great win for the team. I think they handled the crowd very well with making it GA to get everyone into the lower bowl. The fans that were there cheered loud and helped provide a spark. Props for humming the slow fight song with no band there to play it during the final TV timeout.

Luckie isn't out to get us, he's just a terrible official
1/30/2014 8:14:21 AM
Exactly
1/30/2014 8:21:57 AM
it's just a tendency that the only games TJ has fouled out of this year were ones reffed by Luckie
1/30/2014 9:07:19 AM
This^It's not paranoia if someone is actually out to get you.
1/30/2014 9:43:50 AM
Just got back from the game, spun out into a snowbank got stuck and had to eat my left arm, great win. thought we we're going to get screwed. another game where fouls seemed to be only called under their basket. and we drove the lane a lot.
1/30/2014 9:44:19 AM
There's a chart on PP showing all the games games Luckie has called this year, and how many fouls per game he's called against each team. He's reffed 4 NC State games, and calls an average of 5.3 fpg. The next highest is WF at 4.4, then Rutgers at 4.2. In his 4 FSU games, he's called an average of 2.5 fouls against fsu. fwiwhttp://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=178&f=2515&t=12639166&p=3[Edited on January 30, 2014 at 10:13 AM. Reason : ]

Anyone know if a replay is avail online or on tv? I can't seem to find anything and I missed most of the game talking to a pretty girl
1/30/2014 10:23:27 AM
Just can't stop thinking about how tall and long FSU was. Their length was absolutely ridiculous. I'm very impressed with how effective we were on offense and just being able to get off quality shots. Kudos to the players and the game plan.
1/30/2014 11:24:49 AM
^^ESPN 3 if you can get it.

^^^^ those numbers are fouls against NCSU, WF, Rutgers... sorry i wasn't clear on that.

http://statsheet.com/mcb/referees/jamie-luckie/teamsI will say that Luckie did make a couple of big calls that went in our favor. Having said that, he called a shitload of big calls that went against us and I disagreed with a lot of them. I have not watched the TV broadcast of the game, so I'll also grant that it's possible I just had a bad angle.Anyway, that link has his foul stats. If you sort by season, you can see that this year he is calling 23.5 fouls per game against us. That's the most against any team this year, and the next highest is Villanova at 18.8.Warren scored 30 and only attempted a single free throw, that's crazy. Also keep in mind that fouls aren't the only way officials impact the game. There were a couple of times where they'd quickly call jump ball if FSU got a hand on it while we had it, but then when the reverse happened they waited long enough to call us for the foul.Anyway, glad we won. We improve to 1-3 against Luckie on the season.
1/30/2014 11:31:14 AM
It's also not surprising we have the highest standard deviation of fouls called per game by Luckie at 5.3

^^ Those stats are pretty interesting. Either we are a shit team that has to foul a lot at the end of games or Luckie believes our guys just foul more than other teams (i.e. bias). Honestly we'd need to see something similar for all the refs that have worked multiple State games to truly determine if bias exist or if as a team, we just foul more.
1/30/2014 1:25:13 PM
Or if all the refs colluded to work against us.
1/30/2014 2:41:51 PM
sorry i screwed-up that link to the highlights a few posts up:http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/2/1370882.htmlwatching the highlights again, i was reminded there were 3 instances where TJ could have been T'ed up. one time he got a defensive rebound and swung an elbow that missed dude's chin by a couple inches. and twice he jawed and almost went after a guy.[Edited on January 30, 2014 at 4:49 PM. acc network's highlights make no sense. they show the announcers talk about the turning point of the game for 80% of the video and at the end they show some low angle plays from the game. no summary or anything.
