Been talking with some people about predictions for some of the characters. I have NO CLUE what's going to happen, just fun to try and figure it outMy guess....Phillip- dies saving the family?Elizabeth- Deported?Paige- jail? (really didn't like her 2 min convo last episode with Mom Henry- ends up with Stan? The have a pretty good bond. I could see itStan- not sure what happens here. I can see lots of ways. He's going rogue with the Jennings. I could see him in jail.Boreg and Claudia- Both swimming with the fishes.

Daamn, it's getting good. Last night was by far one of the best episodes of the series.Just one left
5/24/2018 9:27:24 AM
ooooh shit, that episode was so good!
5/24/2018 9:34:41 AM
lol at that Russian priest. He knew the whole time that they were talking that the other priest was talking to the FBI and he waited like 5 mins before mentioning it.

TONS of "stuff" to sort through in the finale. What's everybody thing the end game with Renee is? Are we looking at a final scene of her leaving the Hoover bldg to go into a phone booth and start talking in Russian?
5/24/2018 10:41:06 AM
Although that would be a crazy endgame, I'd think she'd have to be at least one generation in America (like Paige) already to get past all the background checks and stuff the FBI would do. Not outside the realm of plausibility, but a stretch. Stan was able to uncover suspicion on the Jenners from just some basic snooping and policework. If Renee is a spy too, her cover would have to be absolutely ROCK SOLID to get all the clearances and stuff necessary, let alone operate as a spy while living in the same household as Stan. Although I guess she could be a sleeper of some kind, and only be "activated" once she infiltrates the FBI.

Shitty ending to a shitty show. I'm actually amazed they scripted an ending that encapsulated all of the shittiness of the previous 74 episodes.Parents abandoning their children in America, give me a fucking break. This was a terrible series that limped along on Phillip, Stan and Oleg's characters.[Edited on May 31, 2018 at 12:00 AM. Reason : a]

GREAT fucking show, meh final episode thoughshould have had them shoot each other in the garage with only paige surviving
5/31/2018 8:50:02 AM
I didn't mind the ending. Definitely didn't expect them to get away though. U2 really brought their A-game for the climax though. Also poor poor Stan. Will he ever be able to trust again? Love again?
5/31/2018 1:03:02 PM
Pretty unsatisfying ending. Nobody shot, nobody arrested (aside from Oleg), nobody even arrested. No confirmation on Renee. I will say the garage scene was pretty tense. I was surprised Stan let them go.Didn't really make sense for Paige to stay. She is a wanted criminal by the FBI. Undoubtedly the FBI would be questioning all of her friends, so they would know she was a spy. FBI prob seized all of her/her parents' assets, so she has no money or any support network. She's only like 20 years old with no significant employment history. She'd have to go by a fake name and has no birth certificate, SSN, or anything, and was not nearly as well trained as her parents.Henry at least is completely innocent and can likely be helped by Stan/the government. Paige has literally nothing more than the clothes on her back.

Not a great ending, but at least there was some closure. And calling this a horrible show is trolling. Nice attempt...
6/4/2018 9:36:18 AM
I agree with all of the Paige stuff except that the FBI knows she's a spy. Only Stan knows that and I don't think he told anyone.Calling the show awful is definitely not trolling, at least on my part. you can go back through the thread and find me saying it at the beginning. The show was great at showing family issues and horrifically awful at displaying espionage. 80% of the premises you're supposed to buy into are utterly ridiculous. Pretty dumb to watch all the way through then
6/5/2018 1:41:50 PM
why is that?
6/5/2018 3:24:43 PM
I don't know just seems like a waste on an awful show. Was it fun awful?I watched walking Dead way too long but that was partly bc i kept thinking a zombie show would get fun again with the various showrunner changes. With the Americans, after a couple seasons you kinda know what you're gonna get.
6/5/2018 4:55:34 PM
I stayed primarily because of Phillip and olegs characters. they were developed very well, Oleg in particular, and as subplots I was incredibly intrigued to see where they went.[Edited on June 5, 2018 at 6:52 PM. Reason : a]
6/5/2018 6:52:03 PM
If you liked even two characters and multiple subplots that much, feels like it brings the show above "awful". I mean Phillip and Oleg were, what, 30-40% of the show?I don't even know why image arguing, just "awful" seems like a weird adjective for a show you admittedly liked a large portion and voluntary spent 75 hours with[Edited on June 5, 2018 at 8:04 PM. think of it more like hating your job but really liking some of your co-workers.And even though I loved Phillips character, for example, it was unbearable watching him go along with the insanely absurd espionage assignments and shit like that
6/5/2018 8:37:27 PM
If I hated my job I would leave. Especially if there were 100 other jobs out there this job was really only part time anyway. Conclusion: go back in time and don't watch this. Thank you good night
6/6/2018 12:11:11 AM
you're a moron if you can't see the nuance
6/6/2018 8:40:44 AM
Jesus, fuck you too then. Sounds like a moron is the one that spends his free time with awful activities.
6/6/2018 9:08:49 AM
Your conversation was dumb but I read it anyway. Take that for what it's worth.

You're a moron if you can't see the nuance

6/6/2018 6:08:22 PM
Yea i don't remember about the pictures but they def tried and failed to locate her. They mentioned that Henry was the only one still around. I'm not sure they think she's a spy but they def want to talk to her I would guess

6/7/2018 8:21:20 AM
Sure we were arguing but it was just a normal back and forth before you called me a moron. If you took anything i said as "fuck you your opinion is stupid" then perhaps I need to work on communicating more clearly as that wasn't intended.I don't have a problem with your more "nuanced" opinions on the show, just think the word "awful" doesn't leave much room for "nuance"
6/7/2018 9:22:31 AM
I appreciate that and apologize as wellfor me, awful is an accurate representation of how i feel about the series as a whole. doesn't mean there weren't some bright spots, though.
6/7/2018 6:46:19 PM
On the new tww we HAVE to be friendly cuz there's only like 10 of us!
6/7/2018 8:41:23 PM
lol

Pretty surprised to see all the negative reactions to the finale. It had some really strong performances (especially Stan) and character moments. It would've been really predictable to have it all end in a shootout but they found a way to let everyone come out alive while still making it brutal. I also liked the symmetry that Elizabeth and Phillip left their family in Russia to be spies in America and now they're leaving their family in America to go back to Russia. On other discussions people pointed out that the only person who can say Paige was involved is Stan and he can't expose without being arrested for letting Phillip and Elizabeth go.

Just started this. About halfway through Season 1 and highly enjoying it.
8/1/2018 7:29:12 PM
I just started as well. I'm enjoying it, however in the third episode a briefcase full of cash gets busted open, and out come pouring a bunch of 2006 edition Franklins. I mean it isn't that big of a deal, but come on, the production crew could have just printed fake money for the briefcase. It wouldn't have cost that much.
8/30/2018 11:44:02 AM
I enjoyed the finale, it was bleak and dreary, I think anything happier would have been to cliche.
