alright, at level 26, all purple/yellow armor, new monarchy and vanguard rep at level 2. i think i'm going to take tomorrow off and catch up on some work, jesus.

i bought my xbox one pretty much exclusively for this game. obviously no game is worth an entire console, but i definitely don't regret it, b/c the xbox is awesome and makes me feel like my room is the uss enterprise.

guys i'm going to tell you this now, and in a week you're going to wish so bad that you listened to me: DO NOT FARM THE CAVE.

engram drops are garbage. just do your patrols and get your rep to level 2 w/ a faction and the vanguard and buy your purples. if you try to get them w/ drops you'll (1) become furious when your 12th purple engram decodes into a blue piece of shit, and (2) won't get to choose the stats/abilities on your items. point (2) is a bigger deal than it seems, b/c this game is built nearly entirely around combing your gear and spec for optimal mechanics.

Just figured out completing the Daily Heroic on Level 28 gives you 2 Ascendant crafting mats instead of one. Gonna be doing that from here on out.

I'll typically do my bounties for the day and rack up rep that way and then farm the cave for a while (there's something soothing and enjoyable about it), pop out a few Strike Missions, maybe a Crucible or two.

Still really enjoying this game. I might not play it obsessively forever, but I can see myself logging in for at least a few hours a week just to keep up to date and run Strikes/Crucibles.

^The cave is on earth. I honestly just happened upon it the other day...first time i had ever been to that part of the map. There was like 8 dudes just firing squad type shooting into it...

Also, the events are happening more frequently for me. Last night in a 30 minute patrol session, I saw 2 of them. When the game first dropped, there were times where I could go an hour without seeing one.

i've been doing patrols a lot more lately farming materials for upgrades and i probably get a public event every consecutive 15-20 minutes, sometimes happening less than 5 minutes apart. I need ascendant shards pretty bad though. I'd say a good 30 right now to level all my gear which should bring my close to 28.

the cave is almost worthless once you hit like ~24. Aside from upping your cryptarch rank from blue engrams (which occur almost as frequent as during missions or whatever), it really just wastes time and dulls the game.

^ This seems true. I've reached about mid 23 and it's been a long while since I found anything worthwhile from the cave, but the cave farming bumped me up this high and now I can attempt the more challenging strike list level...plus a crap ton of Strange Coins to turn in this weekend.

However, there is still something mind numbingly entertaining about the treasure cave (not to mention it's an easy way to boost your second subclass if you haven't yet). I still get a little excited every time I run into it after expending all my ammo and see all the bright, shiny engrams sitting among the ammunition.

Good way to upgrade your purples is to do the Queen's Wraith missions (which award you with a purple every time you complete one), then dust the purple piece of gear for the mats and use them on the stuff you have on.

the public events are very regular if you look around on reddit. on earth you get a guaranteed 4/hour alternating mothyards/divide/mothyards/divide every 15 minutes. i went from zero to vanguard chest yesterday morning... then got a chest w/ the exact same stats in the queen's mission yesterday evening, goddammit.

Queen's Wrath missions are fun, especially in a group. Plus a welfare Legendary to use or scrap for mats is nice.

Personally I could still use the helmet that drops. Though I do find it dumb that Bungie nerfed that.

Picked up an Exotic Weapon Bounty last night (it's apparently randomly offered after completing normal bounties). Looks like it's going to be a Hand Cannon, and it's a several stage bounty in order to unlock the gun. While I'm not thrilled that it's a weapon I don't normally use, I think it's interesting the way they set up the bounty system to unlock it.

All and all I'm still having a blast with this game. Looking forward to a good bit of 25+ TWWers to be ready for the raid.

Yeah but now Bungie has taken away the incentive for an entire group of players to even complete the content. Sure there are a ton of players that are still working their way up the gear ladder, and need the purple pieces the Wraths drop. But for the other side, there is now no point to doing them. They award no marks, and no rep with the Queen's faction. They could have nerfed the mats down to one ascendant shard/energy and this would have still been fine since there are a limited number of times you can complete the event. Or add those mats to the loot table and just make it a random chance for a player to get one. That would still be better than just yanking it out all together.

It's like you guys have never played games before. Of course as soon as they see everyone is doing something they are going to nerf it. What people should be more upset about is when they dont catch things like this during beta tests and fix it before people start doing it. Those people then have an unfair advantage over people who started late or didnt know about them.
