Bank episode was pretty good, although I felt like the twist was pretty obvious.

After a couple of pretty good episodes, "Kill the Moon" just might be my least favorite ever.

Agreed. Didn't care for it.

Every review I've seen is praising it for promoting a woman's right to choose. No one seems to be bashing it for:A) awful performancesB) stupid storyC) why the hell are they bringing in an annoying tween after it didn't work last season with the kids Clara was babysittingI liked the last maybe 2 minutes, when Clara went off on the Doctor, because how she felt about him is how I was feeling about the whole episode.

I thought the latest episode was pretty good. I liked Clara as surrogate Doctor.

Yeah the villain was interesting and the level of humor was increased, overall one of the better episodes this season.Loved when the Doctor did his little dance.

I loved the forest episode. Great story and they finally learned how to use kids properly in an episode. The girl they used a few weeks ago was so damn annoying and I'm glad they didn't include her here. These kids added to the experience as opposed to distracting from it.However I did feel the environmental message was a little to blunt, much like the pro-choice message in Kill the Moon (I agree with the message but I'd prefer it better as sub-text). Maybe that's on purpose since Heaven is a plot point to the season. Every episode has had some sort of crisis of morality on varying levels.

I had a strong dislike for the forest episode. I cannot put my finger on it exactly, but the whole plot felt like a mess. I probably lost most focus after Mr. Pink knowingly walked a group of kids up to a tiger and scared it away with a flashlight in broad daylight.I enjoyed the bank heist and train episodes a lot, though.

I think maybe I like it because of how much I disliked Kill the Moon.Listen, Mummy on the Orient Express, and the bank episode are probably the only ones from this season I'll ever watch again.

Part 1 of the finale was great, super excited for the last one.SPOLIERSMissy=Mistress=Master thing was not much of a surprise though, wish there had been a more dramatic reveal. But Master + Cybermen should be wonderful next week.
11/3/2014 6:43:58 PM
I thought it was great. It was one of the possible reveals I'd thought of, but not the one I thought they'd go with.
11/3/2014 6:46:31 PM
SPOILERSWhile I think The Master character is awesome, and I'm sure the finale will be cool, I really liked John Simm as The Master.

One of the better episodes this season, looking forward to the season finale.

The finale was wonderful. I didn't really like Danny before, but Cyber Danny was great. This was the perfect Master for this doctor. While I loved John Simm, he was meant for #10 and would not have been as effective opposite Capaldi.Excited for Nick Frost to be in the Christmas episode. I'm assuming Danny has to come back somehow so the future seen in "Listen" can continue.

I'm surprised to see so many positive reviews here. I thought the entire finale was a complete mess other than the master reveal and the actress who played it. The cyber-pollen was a stretch even considering the campy nature of the episode. Pink taking Clara to a cemetary after rescuing her had no point. They built Clara's initial lie about being the Doctor seem more important than it was and did nothing with it later. The bracelet bringing one person back from the dead was such a forced Mcguffin with no earlier setup.Maybe i'm being too critical, but Moffett seemed to lose all of his magic when he took over full control of the series. He had a few shining moments like the creation of The Silence, but it feels like he just tries way too hard.

You are focusing too much on plot devices (which have ALWAYS been campy), and missing the overall story. The whole season has hinged on two main themes. The first is soldiers (Doctor not liking soldiers and Danny being one, Clara slowly becoming the Doctor's soldier, Doctor dealing with his refreshed memory of the time war and being a soldier then). The other is the ongoing question of is the Doctor a good person. Those two overlap and climax with Missy/Master offering the Doctor an army.Think about even the best episodes the show ever had and tell me there aren't campy and stretched out plot devices. "Blink" is still one of my favorite episodes, but come on, easter eggs hidden on 17 DVDs meant only for one person? Cyber pollination comparatively doesn't seem like a bad way to create an army when they needed one in the story. And the only reason why the Clara lie seemed built up was because of the trailers. My guess is Moffat had little control over what the BBC wanted to market. It really wasn't a big deal in the episode and I don't think the audience was meant to believe it.[Edited on November 11, 2014 at 1:27 AM. Reason : -]

I actually hadn't seen a single one of the trailers. I was referring to the first scene where she claims to be the Doctor, then the opening credits putting her name before Capaldi's, and then her eyes in the background instead of his. So it was part of the episode and had nothing to do with BBC marketing, and they made it out to be more than it was. If they don't revisit that, I'm going to be disappointed. And I don't mind campy "just go with it" scenes. The "timey wimey detector" that "goes 'DING' when there's stuff" was brilliant. Magical water touching a corpse and instantly generating metal and wires around it was a bit much. Specifically the morgue scene where a small bit of water touched the body under the sheet on the gurney, and it was instantly a cyber-man.And if we are talking about issues with the story, Missy's plan was to give the Doctor an army to force him to be bad. Except she was hoping he would be killed in the fall. Ignoring that, the two options she gave were for him to command the army and rule the universe or for her to command them and destroy Earth. But there was also the option to command them to explode into the atmosphere as we later saw. Seems like a huge oversight on her part. And why did the Doctor need to give the bracelet to Danny Pink to command that action? Because he refused to destroy the zombie cyber-men on his own? Never stopped him before.I'm fine with campy if it leads to a good story. Unfortunately, this was a disjointed mess that overshadowed all the soldier themes.

Was it ever explained who was behind the Orient Express fiasco? I don't think Missy took credit for it.

^That's probably for the second part of the series. I didn't feel nearly as emotionally invested in these companions as I have for others. Although, I got chills at Danny's speech

Was anyone else upset with how "Last Christmas" ended? I felt like it was a big middle finger to anyone who became invested in the story.
12/31/2014 4:15:31 PM
No way. Last Christmas was great. Best Christmas special since the Christmas Carol.
1/25/2015 5:04:13 AM
As an entire episode, sure. But the last 5 minutes....ugh.
1/25/2015 1:50:42 PM
I think that had something to do with Jenna Coleman originally planning to leave after this series and then changing her mind to come back about a month before the Christmas Special aired. The writers had to think of a way to keep her around and that's what they came up with.
1/25/2015 4:31:52 PM
Yah, I guess you're right that did feel like a cheat. I had not heard Jenna was going to leave the show. I'm glad she decided to stay, even though not many people like her. I didn't care for her much until this season. I think they've flushed out her character a bit. Could probably still do more with her though.I just hope they don't bring Danny Pink back from the grave to give her a happy ending. THAT would be a cheat.

I'm assuming they will to keep the timeline from "Listen" intact.I was more referring to this:
