He should be getting some serious consideration for ACC POY. Our record is the only thing holding him back from that honor.
2/10/2013 7:50:14 PM
I agree he should be in the race, but the media is dumb and only looks at scoring and team strength usually. They'll give it to Plumlee. Which I don't have a problem with, but the race should be much closer than the voting will go. Hell Howell may not even finish top 10, you never know with media types.

If it was MVP instead of POY it would be a toss up between Howell and Kelly

2/16/2013 4:42:19 PM
Apparently the dude didn't practice all week with some sort of injury. Still got a double double.MVP
2/16/2013 4:49:04 PM
Just looked at box score, 16 rebounds
2/16/2013 5:03:20 PM
Dude is a MAN!

Wolfpack Rebounds.1. Ronnie Shavlik 15982. Tommy Burleson 10663. Mel Thompson 10634. Bobby Speight 10575. Howell 9516. John Richter 936*This is by my count - I could be off by a few. But I think he solidly has 5th all time.
2/16/2013 6:06:04 PM
Damn how the hell will anyone catch Shavlik?
2/16/2013 6:08:01 PM

15th (or 16th?) double-double of the season. how many does he have on his career? what's the wolfpack record? acc record?
2/17/2013 11:36:55 AM
2/19/2013 7:11:41 PM
1. Ronnie Shavlik 15982. Tommy Burleson 10663. Mel Thompson 10634. Bobby Speight 10575. Howell 9586. John Richter 936
2/19/2013 9:20:18 PM
Damn, Howell, no double-double? You suck! Kidding, kidding. Not his best offensive game, but he played some pretty good d and got a couple steals
2/20/2013 9:45:48 AM
What are we going to do without you next year
2/23/2013 5:51:03 PM
Great effort on the glass today. Just couldn't find his touch around the basket.Clearly a first team All-ACC selection, though I wouldn't put it past the media to screw it up.Team MVP for the season. No one saw that coming.Makes me look smart for riding his jock his whole career though. We would have been a pretty good team if we'd benched Dennis Horner all year for Howell his freshman year. Team played great when Tracy/Howell were in together.
2/23/2013 5:52:19 PM
nothing makes you look smart

2/23/2013 6:17:26 PM
^^^ you guys should be licking my hairy bean bag right now for being correct about us all season
2/23/2013 6:26:25 PM
Howell is so good, that we're not a very good team and we've been on the bubble for weeks
2/23/2013 6:27:57 PM
No, Howell is so good that he's kept our season alive despite having no bench, an injury to Lorenzo, and a less than stellar supporting cast around him.
2/23/2013 6:32:09 PM
so, you were right all season by saying howell is good? pretty sure every single one of us realizes how good howell is, so i dont see what you're saying
2/23/2013 6:37:46 PM
no about us not being very good this year.but i was the one who predicted he'd be a double double guy and most people disagreed last year

^^^i predicted it too!!
2/28/2013 9:57:26 AM
^^ Yeah it'll take a couple monster games and consistent double digit games to get there, but that would be awesome if he could get up to #2.
2/28/2013 9:59:48 AM
Dick came to play tonight. Not surprising or anything.
3/3/2013 6:18:02 PM
Howell would average 30 points a game it they called fouls when he gets mugged.
3/3/2013 6:39:43 PM
I'm currently formulating an article of food that can be the "richard howell"

3/3/2013 10:04:11 PM
Yep I saw that. Something like 370+ career ORebs.

3/3/2013 10:33:31 PM
i was about 10 rows back at the game tonight, behind the tech basket during the 2nd half. during that worthless free throw tech took with 20 seconds left, i loudly expressed my love for dick howell. i think he heard me. i hope he heard me.
3/3/2013 10:52:24 PM
So, Josh Hamilton should drink a 5th of this dude's sweat, instead of the 5ths of liquor he drinks nightly. Got it.
3/3/2013 10:52:45 PM
God you just get dumber. Didn't think hambone was still in college and played basketball either
3/3/2013 10:56:51 PM
Dude has been a beast this year, we're gonna be a much different team without him.

next year will end a great stretch of returning solid, non-freshman, undersized centers that play harder than anyone else on the team. here's to you, ben mccauley, tracy smith and richard howell. i love you all.
