im glad harry got a lot of play, and im glad they toned megan back a bit while still giving her a huge huge impact in the progress of the showDo we know why Lane owes money to England?
5/21/2012 10:25:35 AM
his lawyer said taxes.
5/21/2012 11:49:02 AM
Didn't know Jared Harris went to Duke. I like him a lot better than Ken Jeong.
5/21/2012 12:11:52 PM
I would gladly pay $6k for that Jaguar.
5/21/2012 1:59:49 PM
yes indeed.
5/21/2012 2:02:19 PM
my favorite part of the episode is the wipe up job by momma krishna after the deedthat got a little too real.
5/23/2012 11:10:08 AM
Does anyone else feel like mad men is trying to include a surreal gags in every episode now??"Roger gets a bj! lol!""Pete gets punched! lol!" "Paul is a Krishna! lol!" I am not complaining because those are some funny moments, but it takes me out of the episode everytime it happens. I mean, what made the lawn mower incident so funny is that at the time shit like that NEVER happened on the show. Now things like that don't seem so uncommon. I think if they pulled that stunt now, it wouldn't get near the reaction it did at the time. [Edited on May 23, 2012 at 3:28 PM. Reason : ``]
5/23/2012 3:27:07 PM
You thought the Krishnas were a gag?I really came here to say that the Grantland Mad Men Power Rankings column is the most consistently funny, well-written, high brow shit on the internet.[Edited on May 23, 2012 at 4:04 PM. Reason : Really none of those are gags]
5/23/2012 4:03:12 PM
I don't think ^^ knows what a gag is
5/23/2012 4:40:17 PM
I didn't see anyone gag when Roger got a bj.
5/23/2012 4:51:53 PM
I'm with Socks``. Freddy pissing himself was a great "gag"!Other hilarious gags include Roger's heart attack, Sally getting caught masturbating, Don getting robbed, Peggy's pregnancy, Sal getting sexually harassed, and Joan being raped by her future husband.[Edited on May 24, 2012 at 2:56 AM. Reason : Too many gags to remember!]
5/24/2012 2:50:44 AM
yea those were all totally pointless and stupid gags that meant nothing!just filler because Weiner ran out of ideas at the moment.i mean why show sal making out heavily with a bellhop?? its all just low brow shock television[Edited on May 24, 2012 at 8:47 AM. Reason : r]
5/24/2012 8:46:33 AM
I heard that next week Don gets hit in the nuts with a football. Should be good.
5/24/2012 9:16:33 AM
lolI'm Krallum and I approved this message.
5/24/2012 9:28:17 AM
*shrug* i see the Krishna thing and the punch and the bj as being played for laughs--over-the-top reactions and situations that were meant to be funny. Are you saying you didn't laugh at these things? What about the lawnmower scene? I know i did. What I'm trying to say is I've been reviewing old episodes and to me the show didn't use to be this funny. Not saying the writers have ran out of ideas. Just saying the writing has changed and become less serious. I guess you could say it reflects the changing times. But it still seems obvious to me that the writing style has changed. Apparently everyone disagree. Oh well. :p it was just a thought.
5/27/2012 8:36:42 AM
it might just be the way things evolved in the mid to late 60si feel like people probably began loosening up and societal norms began shifting, that seems to start with seemingly few people getting into extreme things before things mellow out to an overall gradual trend
5/27/2012 12:22:48 PM
everything don loved about his job is over
5/27/2012 11:03:25 PM
go peggy. for serious.
5/28/2012 12:14:07 AM
I'm really sad about this, there's gonna be a huge void without pegSCDP(H) is goin down down
5/28/2012 1:14:15 AM
I hate Pete Campbell enough that I would probably punch Vincent Kartheiser in the face if I ever saw him on the street,
5/28/2012 3:33:27 AM
You ain't never lieIt's also upsetting how peggy dissed kosgrove, didn't even tell him she was going to leave, nor did she put in a good word for him
5/28/2012 8:29:08 AM
2 weeks. One-upping the Beatles with the Kinks
5/28/2012 12:02:06 PM
^^ It'll be interesting to see if they play that out. I chuckled when Freddy offered to help Peggy job search, if only she'd buy him a piece of pie...]
5/28/2012 1:29:26 PM
I doubt that Peggy is done on the show (and I hope she isn't). I think it's a developing situation and I doubt she'll come back to SCDP, but they can still easily use her character to show how things are at a different agency. I hope there are more Peggy/Don scenes before the series is done, because those are usually the best scenes in Mad Men.
5/28/2012 1:37:23 PM
i hope it becomes a great rivalry where SCDPH gets shown up by Peggy but not in a good way. eventually we see Peggy like this http://i2.listal.com/image/1200173/500full.jpg

or kill himself
5/29/2012 12:30:34 AM
I dunno.Landing Jaguar and getting Joan to ask for a 5% voting partnership vice cash could allow Lane to cover it all up.Peter demonstrated he is completely untrustworthy with no loyalty whatsoever. He weaseled his way into partner and lied to everyone to pimp Joan. Don and Joan will be actively looking to show Peter the door and neither Lane, Roger, nor Cooper are going to defend him. Cosgrove is an easy replacement.Joan is going to be the subject of all kinds of stories, rumors, and innuendo concerning her newfound partnership, and her life is already somewhat a mess (though the new partnership should help out a lot--I wonder if Greg will come back to take advantage?).It's still a toss-up for me.I'm a little disappointed they haven't pursued Lane's Lolita fascination.
5/29/2012 2:52:30 AM
The lolita thing may come back. you know how they always say "last time on mad men" and then show you some scene that you thought could mean something 5 episodes back or even a season prior. I wouldn't write that off just yet.I doubt anyone will question Joan's partnership. Other than being a woman- understandably a big hurdle- she has been with the company for 13 years and has helped those guys manage the business in a way they couldn't. She is a perfect fit for partner and I am shocked she didn't ask for it already, without whoring herself. The scene where they revealed Don's visit was post coital was awesome. Watching Don breakdown during Peggy's exit was painful but great. He wanted to maintain control over something but he couldn't. Don went to all of his bag of tricks, turning the conversation and taking ownership but it wasn't enough. I stated earlier that this season is the fall of Don, and I stand by that even more so now.
5/29/2012 9:31:38 AM
Joan is a corporate prostitute!Meagan had to slow twirl in front of casting creeps! What gags!Slide whistle!
5/29/2012 10:01:52 AM
I'm also upset that we probably wont see anymore Joyce I liked her
5/29/2012 1:19:06 PM
5/29/2012 2:42:46 PM
^I was surprised she didn't storm out when he said that. Don is and always was a verbally abusive dickhead to Peggy, even as he was helping her career along.
5/29/2012 2:52:40 PM
the only thing i could think was GOOD FOR PEGGY. Everyone has had a job before where no matter what they did, they were bullied and under-appreciated. Glad she got out of there.
5/29/2012 7:03:00 PM
^^ my guess is her character is supposed to understand Don, as if she's letting him mouth off because that's what he always does -- she knows just how much she really does mean to him at the end of the day
5/29/2012 7:05:12 PM
5/30/2012 3:24:20 AM
5/30/2012 8:13:17 AM
^^The majority of people are aware she and roger have had a thing, at least in the past. I highly doubt the staff of SCDP will assume the partnership is related to sexual favors with a partner since it has never worked to her advantage before. Also, look where Don was in life and how people used to respond to him. Look where he is now. He may not have hit the ground yet, but he is definitely falling. Shit just look at the ad for this season.
5/30/2012 9:29:09 AM
it is also my opinion that Don is "falling"hes out of touch, not because of his work ethic but because at the end of the day he is not cutthroat enough. He has too much loyalty, and thats the old way of business.Hes always tried to do right by people and clients, as far as business ethics. Now we are seeing the prevalance of subterfuge and dishonesty that he refuses to take part in; him leaving the room in protest of pimpin joan and the other partners voting anyway is a prime example of that. They didnt need his vote to go through with it.[Edited on May 30, 2012 at 9:39 AM. Reason : j]
5/30/2012 9:36:50 AM
5/30/2012 10:20:13 AM
i think a lot of the characters at some point in the show could be considered the 'falling man'.. roger, don, lane, petemayhaps it's not supposed to be one guy.
5/30/2012 10:33:04 AM
or perhaps the writers had a vision about a story they wanted to tell from the beginning. a guy on top who slowly began to fall.
5/30/2012 1:58:01 PM
I think you're half right. One of the themes that's been there from the very, very beginning is the shifting of social norms in the 60s. That's no smoke monster mystery. It's been turned up a notch this year through Don, maybe, but saying this season is about the "fall of Don" is a bit short-sighted.
5/30/2012 2:14:35 PM
It seems to me that people talking about this season being the fall of Don have little or no memory of what transpired in season 4.
5/30/2012 3:06:23 PM
oh i recall it well. the difference is he still had power and appeal then but all of that is waning now.
5/30/2012 4:03:15 PM
Or you are just inventing a halcyon era for Don in your mind that never existed on the show.
5/30/2012 4:11:43 PM
kinda strange that Don told Joan not to bang the dude, but fired Sal for not fucking Lucky Strikes...
5/30/2012 10:34:30 PM
Its stagnant in here
5/30/2012 10:39:38 PM
^^ Don's character is much different than the time when Sal was still around.. that and Don has a soft spot for Joan anyway; I don't think there were any strong ties between Don and Sal other than Don keeping his secret
5/30/2012 11:18:34 PM
i dont think its a soft spot i think he really respects Joan and maybe thought better of herDon respected sal professionally, but yea tie wasnt as strong as with joan because his respect for her is along more of a personal level[Edited on May 31, 2012 at 11:42 AM. Reason : d]
