^^ Deb found out and told Dexter she knew back in like season 4. The station, at least Matthews knows as well. As far as the phone, it was the one Dexter gave to him and he is trying to lure Travis to him by any means necessary. I take it he will dump the phone with the rest of him and Travis isnt looking to leave something behind out of spite since he truly believes the world is ending.[Edited on December 13, 2011 at 9:04 PM. yeah, i knew it was the phone he gave him and I know why Dexter did it. It's just a HUGE risk to take. It would just be damn near impossible for him to explain sending that to Travis. The voice of the anonymous caller sounding like Dexter is one thing, they probably couldn't prove it. But a video of him on a phone in the guy's possession?Dexter had to hide in a coffin in Trinity's garage because the cops closed in while he was there. He knows the cops have been getting closer to Travis, he has had inner-dialogue about the risks involved with just going after the guy at this point. Now he's creating evidence that would put his back against a wall. They've made the character out to be smarter than that.[Edited on December 14, 2011 at 12:18 AM. Reason : .]

Yeah but through the show we've seen both sides; Harry's creation and Dexter's true form. He seems to work on a different level when he's going against his current nemesis. He's almost been caught with every single one. Its more of a "I'm really pissed and he might hurt people I care about." When he gets all bad ass he seems to drop the majority of the code. Its has its place in every day casual murder but not here. That's how I've always took it at least.[Edited on December 14, 2011 at 11:36 AM. Reason : .]

true, and he has been more reckless this season in general.. more out of control (risky). For ex., when he killed the guy who shot Mos Def (killed him on an open beach that's visible from the street.
12/14/2011 6:22:17 PM
Yeah much like the guy in the bathroom that he kills in season 2 I think? It's like he allows himself a treat every once and a while.

ahemseason finalebumpity bump
12/18/2011 9:19:45 PM

12/18/2011 9:53:11 PM
Deb's recent revalations with her therapist will cloud her judgement./obvious
12/18/2011 10:28:15 PM
aw shit
12/18/2011 10:39:43 PM
Totally expected that, and so glad it finally happened!
12/18/2011 11:04:17 PM
************spoilers***************i'm glad deb found out, and i don't know how else they could've done it, but killing a dude at a crime scene you are supposed to be closing up is sort of a weak way to go.**********end, although i don't think it was needed as it was after the finale***************
12/19/2011 12:26:31 AM
shit just got real. Now we gotta wait 9 FUCKING MONTHS!

deb found out he's a killer in the first book, surprised it took this long on the show[Edited on December 19, 2011 at 12:31 AM. Reason : A]

They don't need another season. Just a miniseries to wrap this up.Pretty mediocre season overall. This killer was not particularly menacing, and all the bible thumping can't help but make him look pathetic. The could have skipped the whole season and jumped to the Deb finding out part. Trying to see if Dexter could be religious was completely uninteresting. Deb in love with Dexter was , too
12/19/2011 12:42:17 AM
watched this show from its premiere but damn what a shitty, unclimatic ending to this season. I thought Tom Hanks Jr. or whoever did well the whole season but the easy death was insulting to the character they build the whole season. the way Deb found out could have been done better last season or they could have spent more time this season focusing on it. the whole love thing was awkward, especially given their real-life divorce going on during the filming [Edited on December 19, 2011 at 1:50 AM. I think when Rita died to end season 5, the writers had so much to answer for that it pretty much took up the whole listless season. Then they got to season 6, and were able to bring in some new people, a new big bad, and set up some multi-season story arcs. I think we're set up for one hell of a season 7, with lots of different stories to guess the outcomes of over the next 9 months. What happens to Battista's sister, Quinn, Louis, Matthews, Astor/Cody, the black guy Anderson we know nothing about? What about the hand?Deb can't possibly still be in love after this right? Between the cut on the cheek, and the plastic wrapping, clearly she will figure out he was the Bay Harbor Butcher right? Maybe even figure out that he was Lumen's accomplice and/or his brother's killer?[Edited on December 19, 2011 at 2:17 AM. Reason : ]

Well obviously their setting up louis to be a major character in season 7
12/19/2011 9:31:53 AM
I agree about Lewis. The motherfucker looks like Ted Bundy. I don't know if he has it in him to actually kill people, though.I am really not surprised that Deb found out. I think it was a pretty lame season, over-all. John Lithgow ruined this series with his awesome performance in season 4. No killer will ever be as hardcore, as menacing or as downright creepy as he was, although I can see Lewis being exceptionally creepy because he is kind of mysterious.Colin Hanks looks like too much of a nice guy. I never bought that he was a twisted serial killer. Edward James Almos was a waste of a great actor, having his character essentially be downplayed and muted emotionally. Overall, I would rank my favorite seasons in this order: 4, 1, 2, 5, 3, 6. Season 5 was only cool because Quinn and Liddy were onto Dexter for a long time, and I thought that Quinn was going to catch him, which would have been way cooler than Deb catching him.
12/19/2011 10:32:14 AM
these new writers/producers/whatever have fucked this show up. watching some of these episodes felt like a fuckin job. the whole season has been one big
12/19/2011 12:47:32 PM
yeah, I still liked it, but you gotta admit, story wise, 100x better than walking dead. lolI was hoping for a big theatrical end to the ddk. Like dexter, in the heat of battle, throws him off the skyscraper to end it. While deb runs up the stairs and catches him in the act.
12/19/2011 12:58:05 PM
that must have been very difficult to conjure
12/19/2011 1:03:59 PM
lol that would have been soooooo much better. Falling off skyscrapers >>>> Getting stabbed
12/19/2011 1:06:27 PM
People only remember Lithgow acting and Rita dying and forget that four had a lot of bad episodes.

i'll bet season 7 starts off with Dexter and Deb banging in the church, 5 minutes after ^^that scene takes place
12/19/2011 3:34:52 PM
hahah I will not watch the rest of the season if that's how it starts
12/19/2011 3:36:45 PM
So next to last episode, dexter prepared to lure travis to his boat and ambush him by putting up plastic in the boat docked next door- someone is gonna find that plastic and be like WTFalsoa single officer securing a rooftop? the real miami PD must be so embarrased watching this show.alsoTHE INTERN/HAND, WTF??????????????????????????[Edited on December 19, 2011 at 7:48 PM. I had to go back and watch that oh shit look Dexter got a few times. So perfect.I think lab guy knows that Dexter brother was the ice truck killer. Not sure what type of serial killer he'll turn out to be tho but i'm sure he'll be one. I hope Dexter tells Deb the whole story too so she'll realize must her fucked up sex life is his fault.
12/19/2011 8:03:33 PM
So at least two more seasons. It seems pretty obvious Louis knows all about Dexter and wants to be like him. Dexter's Robin? I was a little jarred by Deb being promoted to Lieutenant. It didn't really make sense to me but if they were setting it up so that she could help protect Dexter and let him continue to do his work that could be interesting.I was fully thinking he was going to pull a Brian and make it look like he killed himself in the church and he could be all "Oh my god you guys I found him!" when he went to process the scene again. Also kind of stupid that he didnt think Travis would be a threat to Harrison and lady battista since he, you know, HAD HIS KEYS. Over all the season was just all over the effing place. Mos Def, Admiral Adama, all seemed a little scatterbrained.
12/20/2011 9:39:23 AM
^KEYS, WALLET and PANTS!
12/20/2011 9:59:37 AM
Why did the PD even need to be on the roof at all? Just put them at the entrances
12/20/2011 10:01:39 AM
^ he could have already been there. So they would have had to at least check the roof. Although, they could have flew over the roofs with a helicopter once the police were in view of the entrances. And you wouldn't want uniformed police at the entrances, not if you're actually trying to catch the guy and not just deter him from getting on the roof. They could have had people in street clothes at every entrance I guess. Then again, that would have required a lot more bodies (1 roof/building... how many entrances?).there's been all sorts of stupid stuff on Dexter. I'm not sure this is that deserving of scrutiny. And if there were 2 people on every roof, they simply would have written it so the cops were on opposite sides of the roof or something, and Travis killed one at time. Or he kills one, the other guy sees the body.. starts running over... BAM, Travis jumps out and kills that cop. It's not like having 2 cops on the roof would have made it impossible to move along the same story-line. They also specifically addressed the man-power issue when LaGuerta was in Deb's office.[Edited on December 20, 2011 at 10:27 AM. Reason : /]
12/20/2011 10:26:42 AM
I know Deb had to find out evetually, but I feel like the writers constructed this whole season around that goal. I wouldn't be surprised if the first thing they agreed upon for this season was to have Deb find out, and Dexter's final words to be "Oh God"...then they were all like "derpherpderp Dexter doesn't know shit about religion, let's do that!"And he decides to kill Travis in the spot where he was assigned to be later that night? Seriously, Dexter? More than a little sloppy for our once-meticulous serial killer.
12/20/2011 10:46:59 AM
I thought the ending was good in that it makes me want to watch season 7 to find out what happens with Deb and Louis but looking at the ending in regards to this season alone it was really weak. We all knew that Dexter would be fine when he stuck himself with the needle and it never really felt like he was in danger. It was worth watching and all but relative to other seasons of Dexter (minus the awful season with Lumen) it was pretty weak. Was much more interested in Homeland.
12/20/2011 11:06:42 AM
I kind of wish Travis had a more epic doomsday plot than sacrificing a kid on an obscure rooftop during the eclipse, but Deb finding out about Dexter redeemed the ending.
12/20/2011 11:11:46 AM
any chance that the last scene where Deb walks in on Dexter was another one of her dreams, like the previous one she had about him? I mean they locked in their viewing #'s for next season ending with that cliffhanger, but it could also provide another plotline for Season 7. I mean if it was a dream (I personally don't think it was) it could lead Deb to become suspicious of Dexter, which provides an adidtional plotline to go along with the Villain of Season 7.
12/20/2011 1:11:24 PM
I doubt itthere was too much private dialogue between Dexter and Travis for that to seem likely
12/20/2011 1:13:45 PM
^agreed, was just throwing it out there.
12/20/2011 1:20:46 PM
Most seasons there's a break in the action between the last episode of the old season and the beginning of the new one, except for between seasons 4 and 5 when Rita died. If I had to guess I would say they pick up in the church right where they left off, what do you think? And what do you think Deb's reaction will be? I love the one episode years ago (season 2 maybe?) when Dexter is pondering telling Deb that he's the killer over beer and steaks and the different scenarios play out, one with Deb breaking down crying and the other with her arresting him telling him down on the ground motherfucker! Now that Harrison is getting older, I'd love to see the writers do with him what they do with Cody in the books, give him a little dark passenger of his own and turn him into a junior serial killer.
12/20/2011 4:56:23 PM
^ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxO3TvoBkf0& --- maybe someone can embed. They've got to start off right where it left off, I don't know how they can get around spoiling her ultimate reaction otherwise. If they start off 4 months later and Dexter is going about his life, we know she didn't arrest him. At best, we'd see the details of something we already know. I want to see it unfold.Plus, I know this is sort non-canon... so avoid if you don't want any potential spoilers what so ever..... but we know it was picked up for 2 more seasons. We're not gonna have 2 seasons of Dexter in prison or dead. She's gonna let it ride for at least the mean time and struggle really hard with it all or help protect him from someone else who gets wind of dexter.
12/20/2011 5:58:14 PM
he'll probably explain that he only hunts those that deserve it, then she'll ask if he's ever killed anyone that was innocent...it'll be interesting to see if he lies about his mistakes (miguel's brother(?) and the guy that was involved w/ Jordan Chase, to name a couple)
12/20/2011 6:18:36 PM
This season and last really make me miss Sgt. Doakes. RIP

All throughout the seasons he's talked about faking emotions. He observes how people act and respond in certain situations, so he does what is expected. His relationship with Rita started because essentially to make him seem more "normal", it was very functionary.. and not in the sense that it's easier to pay bills and get through life, etc. Is his relationship with Deb any deeper than what he knows he has to put on for show? I'm curious to see if, and to what extent, he considers killing her.

12/21/2011 8:05:43 AM
I think the "having no emotion" thing died a long time ago. Pretty much once he got down with Rita and then started developing real emotions with people. I mean he even killed his brother for Deb. Just thought of this on the john, not sure if its been said but didn't Louis at first say Dex was going to be the star of the game and then revealed that the game was about being a serial killer to Dexter? Anyone else remember him saying Dexter was the basis for the hero or am I making that up?
