I really want to pull the trigger on a Shelby Mustang...but I don't drive stick...to be fair I've never driven stick for more than 4 hours total in my life...I suck at life.
2/10/2012 11:26:18 AM
no time like the present to learn. Seriously no one can drive a stick. I'm pretty confident my car won't get stolen when i warm it up in the morning 1 because it's locked.2 it's a stick

After a bit of practice you should be able to feel where the clutch engages. This is different on every car. Typical clutch pedal travel goes like this:Clutch pedal to the floor- usually there is a limit switch here, you have to push it all the way in to start the car for most newer cars.Big dead band of travel- where there is no clutch friction but the pedal is off of the floor. This distance varies for each auto, but there will generally always be a dead space before the clutch starts to engage.Hints of friction and engagement- this is where the clutch is starting to transmit some torque, but not much. This is a very small segment of the pedal motion like this and you don't really want to spend too much time here. Keep letting the pedal out until you reach...The friction sweet spot- This is where you will be starting the motion of the car from a stop. A practiced driver will let the clutch out quickly and then pause here until the car reaches a forward speed that matches the engine/gear speed. There is a bit of finesse that i'm not capturing in words but this is the general idea.Clutch all the way out with slight foot pressure- This will allow some slippage but like the low friction position you don't want to spend a lot of time here. Its mainly going to help smooth out transitions to higher gears

i was the closest i know to born... i worked at the golf course for since i was 13.5 and learned how to drive a stick shift workman (think gator long bed)
2/10/2012 4:18:06 PM
Now that the BRZ appears to be worthless... i really don't know what i'm going to get for my next car. I mean the only thing that really does what i want at a reasonable price is a gt mustang... but i really don't want to own a gt mustang, unless it's a 67-69 fast back. I'm kinda thinking about just keeping the legacy running as long as possible and building a fuel injected daily driveable 67 fastback (fuck Eleanor for ruining the prices of them) with a t-56 in it for that crazy over-drive to still maybe pull some mpg out of it.

^maybe it'll be more attractive when they start offering rebates
4/3/2012 9:54:37 AM
ohh trust me... i'd love a viper too... but i'm past the phase of needing to show dick cleavage....i have a woman... all i want is performance, i don't need the "fuck me" body work.
4/3/2012 9:59:08 AM
I do
4/3/2012 10:04:14 AM
LOL... i wouldn't mind it... i just don't wanna pay for it :-)

overpriced for an automatic 540.

But it has m wheels yo.
4/10/2012 6:18:54 AM
what is a good pricepoint for an E39 540i? I've always loved that generation of 5 series the best. our A4 jetta is getting too cramped for driving the kiddo around.
4/10/2012 9:22:11 AM
^ 7500-8500 maybe... i don't like autos so it would have to be 6500 for me to consider. They're much more prevalent then the 6-speeds tooFail.[Edited on April 10, 2012 at 10:54 AM. Reason : .]

This video made me think about an E46 M3 again.I love the perfect balance of performance, luxury, and styling.Still prefer the E46s over the E9x.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCaQOqj9TiU&feature=player_embedded
4/10/2012 11:09:31 AM
Have you driven an e9x M3?
4/10/2012 11:21:22 AM
yes more powerful v8 and refined but i don't care for the exterior looks at all and i don't need sophisticated interior controls...the E46 looks and feels more raw.......plus i don't have that kind of dough........can get an E46 for half the price of E92x
4/10/2012 12:04:41 PM
I know this probably doesn't offend you, but. i think the e46 looks kinda girly...
4/10/2012 12:06:01 PM
lol i actually think the curviness of the E92x look more girly than the boxiness of the E46s....i've seen more middle age women driving the new M3s than I ever did the previous generations now if i saw a girl drive an E36 M3.... [Edited on April 10, 2012 at 12:08 PM. Reason : k]
4/10/2012 12:07:57 PM
I've seen a girl rocking an e30 m3. lol nahh i just think the hood bump and the v8 sound track gives some more balls to the e92. They all drive well. I'm like you though... i don't need fanciness i just want a good simple fun car with a frack ton of power.
4/10/2012 12:13:49 PM
Guess I'm jaded, but I've definitely seen my share of women driving "hardcore" cars. Amongst the more memorable were CTS-V, Z06, e30 M3.Back to the subject at hand; The e46 M3 is certainly a more focused car than an e90, but I think the e90 is more fun AND more refined so the rest of it is just arguing points, overall, it's a better car.
4/10/2012 2:29:03 PM
and since a 2011mustang gt is almost as fast around willow springs and costs half as much it's clearly the best. (lol)

I'm thinking 414 hp Aston with more interior plastic for $30,000.
4/17/2012 6:28:24 AM
hideous.
4/17/2012 10:30:50 AM
i only drive about 100 miles a month so i can't really justify the expense when i have one of the most reliable cars ever ('02 4Runner), but one day i will own a new model Acura MDX. I fucking love those things.
4/17/2012 11:36:38 AM
ctsv wagon for my wife. not going so well talking her in to it though
4/17/2012 11:56:22 AM
your wife is bitching about a 75k 550hp wagon? tell her stfu gtfo.
4/17/2012 11:57:33 AM
In her eyes "it's a station wagon" I told her it wasn't any station wagon and that our kids would love it especially when daddy drives
4/17/2012 12:49:31 PM
lol yeah... i mean i'd want one as my next car if they depreciated at all... i mean i saw an 08 sedan still asking 48k with 58k miles on it... at this point i decided i will never find a 6 speed wagon i can afford before my subaru dies on me.
4/17/2012 1:05:37 PM
We are in the process of buying this 2008 Acadia due to our new family addition http://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/2950468270.htmlBeats getting a mini-van
4/17/2012 1:15:12 PM
Hell yeah, CTS-V wagon baby!
4/17/2012 2:07:56 PM
^^ what exactly is more appealing than a wagon or van?
4/17/2012 5:49:27 PM
Yea no it doesn't beat it
4/17/2012 6:23:09 PM
I'd rather have the Acadia over a minivan. Over a wagon? LOL, never.
4/17/2012 6:57:36 PM
Yeah, Ill sell you a 2006 Audi A6 Avant (wagon) with 66k miles, clean title, new tires/brakes for less than that. For real. Buy my car. For 25 Ill drive it down to wherever you are. It's going to handle way better, probably get better gas mileage, look better, have a nicer interior, be faster, etc.http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?zip=41011&endYear=2013&modelCode1=A6&startYear=1981&makeCode1=AUDI&bodyStyles=WAGON&searchRadius=25&listingId=319700577&Log=0
